  1. Yes indeed, i have ordered one only this weekend. Dealer tells me current status is the engine block is still in raw material form and is 200ft down in a mine in asia. Hes confident of a bw of wk 27, in the year 2027.
  2. I did the original thread, I did go back with the carwow quotes, basically they said carwow was not to be trusted. I didn't believe that as others on here have used it and works fine. They basically said they'd give me my deposit back if I wanted to cancel. But bear in mind to place an order with another dealer I'd be back at the end of the queue. I did however get them to agree an loan car if mine hadn't arrive by a certain date, ordered start of feb, gave them a deadline of September. The dealer is about 1/2 a mile from my work and I drive past every day. So I'd rather deal with them for conveniance, I still coul even after buying from another dealer, but they may not be so inclined to go out there way to help.
  3. Good luck, I ordered beginning of feb, only info I have is both skoda uk and dealer tell me end of September estimated build then shipping in top.
  4. Ordered week 6, spoke with suk today and my estimated delivery is week 38. If that proves to be the car then it's plan b for me!
  5. Spec'd my order with bolero and canton. I don't use a sat nav very often and when I do I find my phone is sufficient. Is there any other benifits with the other head units or just they support navigation?
  6. Vrs combi, tdi with dsg, black pack, pano roof and anthracite geminis order on 3rd of feb. Still nothing on a bw yet, so it l hope I can still alter the order. I originally opted for race blue, but the more white I see the more I want one. So what's best??? And what's best to live with? Eg I love black cars but I had a black golf gt and it showed every water mark, spec of dust and scratch. It was a pain to live with. Thoughts???
  7. I ordered 3 of feb, told my car could be built wk14. Took that one with a pinch of salt. I want it beginning of September. Dealer said not a problem. I asked if not then could I have a loan car from then on to which he promised he would.
  8. Had a chat with my dealer yesterday, about frustration of lack of delivery info. Mentioned strong chance of canceling and produce a carwow quote for an a4 black edition. They mentioned they had a vrs combi demo on order. He then mentioned in a round about manner having it de tagged and swapped to my spec. Did mention there is a penalty though from vw for doing so. He also showed me the screen showing lead times on vrs are now 19wks from order and no options are listed as having an effect on that.
  9. You can buy polishing kits to buff out glass scratches. Only if it's in the non tinted side if the glass.
  10. Ordered 3/02/2014 and nothing from dealer about a build week yet. Anyone order on a similar date?
  11. It was more of an "let's get your order on the system" deal. Negotiations and details to be agreed when I had more time. I had been in the week before for a test drives and was told 20wks lead time. The day I signed it was 6 months, was worried if I didn't get my order in, be lucky to get it in 2014 I ordered a car about 10 years ago, again long wait but it was what I wanted. I said to the dealer what happens if it turns up and I don't like it, as it was limited build numbers and none when built would be demos, (original focus rs). He said "do you think I'll have any issues selling it on with zero wait" same with Octavia I would say, if you could buy one tomorrow brand new with zero wait, would you???? Know I would!
  12. Just to point out for those who missed a key fact: I haven't paid 29k for a car, I've paid £250 deposit that's all. I am well aware of my commitment. When placing the deposit, I made sure of the terms which covered the order being placed, so I don't expect to get my £250 back if I cancel. That was a risk I took at the time! At the time I had done a lot of work on looking around at different cars. I couldnt afford a new car from the likes of Audi or Mercedes. Was looking at 3 year old cars in the 20k mark. The skoda apr offer made a new car fall in budget. So I ordered the vrs. I still think the vrs is the best car I have tested and that's why I'm prepared to wait. However I since hearing of carwow and using it. It's a brought a lot of cars into budget, and most can be delivered a lot quicker. The VRS is loosing its appeal purely on unknown delivery time. I think I'll stick with the dealer and swallow the extra price but I will insist if the car is not delivered by the 1st of September then I should be given a car to use until it arrives! I have a lot of travelling to do in October attend various family events up in Scotland. My 8 y/o transit connect isn't ideal for long journeys.
  13. Delivery is what worries me most. I need it by end of September, I thought it was plenty of time. But after reading what others are experiencing it may be a bit optimistic. Order beginning of this month. 3 weeks on an zero news from dealer.
  14. Dealer power? Octavia is a fine car, but how many are prepared to wait 5 to 6 months????? In my case it's yes, as I'm in no rush to change and 6 months suits me a better. Have you ever bought something, perhaps mail order, then sent it back or canceled the order cause it was cheaper else where???? Don't see what the difference is with a car?
  15. Deposit paid, I saw the order for the exact spec required. Cost was not what I expected, due to all the dealer add ons. When I asked them to be removed they took a long time then produced another order with better monthly payment but extras like gap insurance still in although at better price. They knew I was running late for work, and it was a few weeks before I could go back in. Hence the "let's get your order on and sort out the details later". To be fair I have finally got the extras removed, wasn't easy and they weren't happy and kept trying to push them. Now I just think I could do better.
  16. Buyer power! That's what! If I don't like the deal I walk away simples, if as you say dealer was to increase price, I walk away.
  17. Alex Lawrie have made a real good offer. Have asked my dealer to up their game if the want to keep my order. Waiting game now.
  18. Yeah, I might lose the £250 but would gain a saving of £1030 at another dealer. So would be better off. Learned my lesson, first time I've bought a car in 5yrs so a bit rusty. Salesman was crap, but I was blinded by convenience of a dealer who was 1/4 mile from my work.
  19. I placed my order a few weeks ago. At the time I was rushing as the dealership was due to close and I had 10 mins to get from there to my work for a nightshift. I did some haggling, got a reasonable price monthly so I thought. Salesman said most important thing was to get the order place and details could be sorted later. On review the order they'd added in everything, life shine, service tyres and maint, dent insurance and gap insurance. They'd even added fuel in which don't really wanting added to my pcp! Anyway discount I haggled was all on the extras they'd added. I went back in a week later to add a few more extras and had them remove all extras except service tyres and maint. Now it was clear I was paying list price for the car £29.5k inc options. Just used carwow as recommended by others, already saving over £1k. I have £250 deposit at dealers, is it worth haggling and potentially moving my order?
  20. I had a golf a few years back, the only difference in service intervals was the type of oil used. It was short term but I had it upped by dealer to long term just by switching to long life oil at service.
  21. I ordered the spare, according to dealer you also get jack and wheel brace, which you don't with inflation kit. Think it's a worth while option. With roads these days most of my previous wheel issues have been pot hole related. Having a spare allows you to have an alloy repaired while keeping mobile.
  22. Decided to join the skoda club! I originally was after an Audi, but went for a drive in a vrs and was very impressed. Better all round car and with the 2.9%apr made it a whole lot cheaper than a Audi. Anyway ordered the following: Vrs diesel with DSG Race blue Colour maxi dot Red stitching Anthracite geminis Panoramic roof Leather seats Winter pack Sunset glass Space saver Black design pack Been quote mid September for delivery but it's worth it. Couple of questions though: Are the xtreme alloys worth it? I like them but don't want the ride to harsh! And I,ve got two golden retrievers, does the load cover double up as a net divider?
