  1. Hello yes but were they really that expensive?
  2. Hello, another question I forgot to ask earlier. A dealer I spoke to about a 73 plate SE‐L iV reckoned it would be subject to the new additional.£400 (so a total of £590) VED as it was over £40k Is this right? Is this even possible? I think the car only had a couple of basic options added so I just cant see how it could get to that figure (which would be a deal breaker for me) Thanks
  3. Hello Everyone, I'm considering changing my ageing (2[14) Superb estate for a newish Octavia (also estate). I've settled on an Octavia as I'm not prepared to pay £590 VED for a Superb for 5 years ! and we don't quite need the amount of space we used to. Question is do I go for an 1.4 IV 2/3 years old or one of the newer 1.5s. I can see merits in both but I'd really appreciate any thoughts (probably an SE-L) We do a real mixture of shortish journeys and then quite a lot of 500 mile round trips up to Scotland visiting family - about 16,000 a year. Many thanks.
  4. Thanks Rob/Steve, that's encouraging and yes, it is a dealer so hopefully it should be done. So it should have 1941 which is the latest ? The other thing I'm trying to establish is whether they all came with adaptive cruise control as it's not always easy to spot in the photos and specs can be vague...any pointers ?? ( I'm guessing as well that you're happy with your cars) Thanks
  5. Hello Everyone, I'm going to look at an SE-L IV (71 plate) over the weekend and I just wanted to check something. My understanding is that the cars don't come with Android auto but is there a way of retro fitting this - I'd be chuffed if it's possible. Many thanks

  7. Hello John, thanks for such a thorough response, I've been away for a few days so just catching up. No, I'm definitely not expecting a new one - more like 2/3 gear old version. I like the idea of an iV as we do such a mix - lots of shortish journeys and then also 250 mile trips up to Glasgow so I thought the iV would suit and also the we have lots of panels/batteries which would make the charging very cheap (although accept your calculations as well....)
  8. Hello Everyone, I'm thinking of changing our 2014 Superb Elegance estate which I've had since new (185,000 miles). It's fine but getting a little tired and I'm thinking of an IV. It's been the best car I've ever bought, so keen to stay with the brand and I like an estate car. We have another car which is fully electric so have the charger set up etc. I'm torn between another Superb and an Octavia (don't need quite the same amount of space but the Superb seems to be better value). Budget is a max of £24k, I'd be really interested in views and suggestions about what to (and what not to ) look for Many thanks
  9. Thanks very much - I've just sent it over.
  10. Pete, thanks for that - I'd not heard of them before. It seems a bit of a minefield with so many different options for looms..... Thanks though - will investigate
  11. Hello Everyone, I've got the dreaded airbag light on and local garage has diagnosed it to the loom in the passenger door. So far so good. However, it seems there's a problem getting hold of the part ( 3T2 971 121 AK) as they are an embargoed item - Russia/Ukraine ( news to me that it affected something like this) Any suggestions on where I can get one from as it's both a safety issue and also MOT failure ( and it's early in the New Year) Many thanks
  12. Hello Everyone, my 2014 Elegance has developed an Airbag fault light seemingly at random. A friend with a very fancy code reader pin pointed it to the wiring in the passenger door (it's a common issue apparently - aren't they always....?!) but he ran out of time before we could take the door card off etc. If it is a common one ? then any pointers/thoughts/suggestion before I start digging ? Many thanks
  13. It worked ! Car came back last night so took the motor out, a bit of WD40 and all seems to be fine again. Thanks everyone, though when I looked at the price of a new Valeo motor - £328 from ECP I'm rather relieved! (seems astonishingly expensive for what it is)
  14. Thanks for that and yes will try not to be a tit! I reckoned on not taking the glovebox out -can get the motor out OK I think. Were your symptoms similar to mine? Thanks
  15. All of a sudden, I have no blower, air con or anything. All the green lights are fine and no error codes. Am assuming it's the blower but didn't remove as my wife was leaving for work for a few days. Should I just order a new one (Euro Car Parts? ) for when she is back or are there other things I could/should try? TIA
  16. Good thinking - yes will have another go... Wish me luck finding something!
  17. Mine has gone a bit scabby but trying to find a new one which will is proving tricky. I presume they are standard across the range and also the group (mine's an estate FWIW) Can anyone point me towards something? Thanks
