  1. Hey everyone. Very pleased with my mk2 Octavia vrs tsi. Looking to do a stage 1. I’ve been recommended Revo and R-Tech. Anyone have experience with either or both?
  2. Finally got myself an Octavia vrs dsg! very pleased with the car. However as it’s a facelift mk2 with just over 100k miles and hearing all the horror stories of wrecked engines, should I without fail get the chain and tensioner replaced? Im getting a full service done and I mentioned to the Skoda garage my concerns but they said they’ve yet to hear of any blown engines. So they didn’t seem concerned (probably quite a taxing job to do?). I can’t hear any bad noises and the car is a late 2011 car. Should I push them to have it done for peace of mind?
  3. Thanks for everyone’s help on this. Because of budget constraints I’ve ended up getting a mk2 facelift Octavia vrs dsg. Drives great. Very happy with it.
  4. Ok so can someone confirm whether this engine is chain or belt? 2013, Octavia vrs mk3 petrol. the garage definitely said they were changing the chain not a belt.
  5. Can’t find a pdf of the 2013 brochure. Can anyone post a link if they know where to find it? Also the car has grey colour highlights on the seats compared to the red highlights I’ve seen in other cars. Is that just aesthetics or does it indicate a spec level?
  6. Anyway not massively hung up about the wheels. I can change them to the other style if I want a more aggressive look I guess. Still concerned about it being a 126k mile car! Just hope it’s all ok and been looked after. Apparently that’s mostly motorway miles. Is the dsg box good long after a mileage like that as long as it’s looked after? Cheers. I’ll have a look.
  7. Ah ok. Is a car with the pictoris wheels an indication of lowest spec model?
  8. Could be the car is the basic vrs package. What was the spec options in 2013 cars?
  9. Ok cool. Thanks for the info. Not sure on the wheel size. Haven’t seen the car yet. But they ‘look’ smaller than the other wheels I’ve seen in photos. Did they come with 3 different wheel options from factory? I guess I could buy car and then source myself some different wheels.
  10. Interested in a mk3 petrol vrs estate dsg. It's done 126k miles. A 126k car is all my budget can get me. Seller says everything is all good- all dsg services, full service history and the 126k mileage is mostly motorway miles. (He says lol). However he says there is an intermittent misfire and his mechanic is changing timing chain as he reckons it may be stretched... I said could it be coil packs, he said it wasn't that. So 3 questions - 1. What else could a misfire be if its not the chain or coil pack. Something simple as a plug? (You'd think the mechanic would figure that out though) 2. How many types of wheels came with car originally? This car has some pretty basic spoked wheels on (2 long spokes with a thin spoke in-between) and look smaller than the others Ive seen - (the striking looking hexagonal ones and the other sort of similar 'elongated' hexagon ones). 3. Is a 2013 petrol dsg 126k vrs a car that I can rely on and worth buying? (if its been looked after). Don't want to buy the car and have some nasty surprises in 3 months time!
  11. Hey everyone. Due to needing to lower my budget because of circumstances (was looking to getting a mk3 vrs estate), I’m now looking towards petrol mk2 vrs estates. Budget is 7k max. Couple of questions. What’s people’s experiences with the mark 2? Im hearing chain tensioner issues on these but confused to which car that’s on - pre face lift or face lift? How much to fix, and wpuld I still feel nervous even once fixed? As in can it just go at anytime? What is road noise like? Also are they comfortable on long journeys? Would prefer DSG, any good? Does the pre face lift have DSG option? Any other things to look out for? Lastly, obviously as a Skoda forum I’m likely to get mostly Octavia recommendations but the other car I’m potentially looking at is the Mondeo mk4 titanium x sport powershift petrol. Any views on these? Thanks in advance.
  12. Due to circumstances we’re having to lower the budget now quite a bit. So both these cars will be out of our range. Sigh, thanks for help anyway everyone.
  13. I like the Passat but tax is almost £585 a year and combined fuel is around 26 mpg according to what I’ve read. Even considered insignia vrx but again quite expensive to run. S4’s appear less expensive to run. (Wouldn’t mind one of those though I got to say!) The other cars seem far less expensive to run- I could be wrong on all this but just what I’ve read. Regarding Golf R estates - can’t find any under £16k unfortunately. Unless I’m looking in the wrong place? My £13k budget is absolute tops sadly. I also don’t want to look like an audiot😂 so best option seems to be the vrs.
