Should I get chain and tensioner done?

Featured Replies

Finally got myself an Octavia vrs dsg!
very pleased with the car. However as it’s a facelift mk2 with just over 100k miles and hearing all the horror stories of wrecked engines, should I without fail get the chain and tensioner replaced?
Im getting a full service done and I mentioned to the Skoda garage my concerns but they said they’ve yet to hear of any blown engines. So they didn’t seem concerned (probably quite a taxing job to do?). I can’t hear any bad noises and the car is a late 2011 car. Should I push them to have it done for peace of mind?

Do it - it'll cost money. If it goes wrong it'll cost a WHOLE lot more.

I'm not going to say anything else except go look at this thread and decide if you want to become another statistic. Guess who didn't and had to pay a whole lot more and still has issues to this day?

Oh yeah. There's definitely no blown up engines wink wink. Did they keep a straight face? When you looked into their eyes did you see burning flames and hot coals?  Oh and skoda and audi and vw have never heard of the issue. That's a really poor and unbalanced response.   They're living in fantasy land!
