  1. Any thoughts 2010 yeti 4x4 with the 170 2.0 engine with over 200K on the clock.

Recently had a replacement HPFP and cam sensor plus cam belt and water pump. But today just wont start on the key.  Can turn the car over and over and wont start. A quick squirt of easy start in the air intake and the car will start and tick over. Turn it off and  wont start.

  2. Hope you don't mind DrBig but I've used one of your photos of the trim for our website, if this is not okay please let me know and I'll get it taken off but I'd rather advertise it with a photo of the actual trim piece.

    No problem

  3. Here are some other pictures that I took before fitting

    Drivers Side

Fitting is simple as TJK said you just need to muster up the courage to tug hard to remove the existing one

Fitting just needs a very firm press to fit

  4. Ok. So it is now just hanging back there sans the bubble wrap and all is fine? I wonder where the official Skoda one goes? Or does that also just dangle? The MDI unit does not seem to have anything on it to fix it to the car.

No mine is strapped to the bottom of the top tray

There is a sort of fin on the unit from what I can tell the mounting point is some place behind the heater control.

  5. So drbig: am I correct in saying that this picture shows the MDI unit covered in bubble wrap just dangling somewhere behind the radio and under the top tray?

Has it rattled? Is it fine left like that? Won't it overheat?

I would not leave it like that it's ok for testing

Funny though it did not rattle or give any problems

  6. Ok understand. So this expensive bit can sit anywhere then and comes in different shapes but does the same job. I want to use my iPhone for this so would want it in the lower storage as per the standard factory fit. At some point I'll tackle this task. Yeti getting built next week so not long before I can start with these plans. But until I get around to this MDI I'll just have to make do with an old iPod to the 3,5 jack in the armrest, or my iPhone via Bluetooth.

You should be able to mount the unit easily where you like as there is plenty of room in and around the console area

  7. also the Ebay link is showing the part number as 5N0035341C of the MDI

Part number listed in ETKA is 5N0 035 342B

    to correct this

    5N0 035 342 B - MDI - to 30.05.2010

    5N0 035 342 C - MDI - From 31.05.2010

    Also listed is

5L0 971 199 - Adapter wiring set - This attaches to the MDI

So the part number on ebay should work if you have a later build

  8. Thanks! Ah. So THAT is the expensive bit. This one is for an armrest? How does that work? And where does this bit sit in a European Yeti? Behind the storage area in front of the gear lever?

That part contains the MDI unit that is mounted in an arm rest adaptor for a VW it wont fit a Yeti

But you can remove the MDI from the arm rest adaptor to use

  9. I tried to get the tray out of the RHD Yeti in the showroom and it isn't easy I think there a couple of tabs holding it that I need to figure out where they are.

I'm hoping an Irish member can find the part number quickly or if they get on okay with their dealer could they ring them give them their chassis number and ask them what is the part number as with the chassis number it should be very easy to find on ETKA.

Pull up the gear leaver cover and trim ...

You will then see the fixings holding the tray in place

  10. Does anyone know the correct part number for the MDI tray?

I have not found a UK one only the left hand drive version

and I have the left hand drive version of the tray and it wont fit right hand drive car

  11. EXACTLY my thinking! And something all cars should come with as standard in my view: a power socket or two in a tray on TOP of the dashboard with neat flap in the lid through which one can thread just enough power cable as required. BUT it is all invisible when you take the sat nav/DAB radio/speed camera detector/whatever out... This will be one of my projects on the Yeti at some point.

Would have thought the tray was held in the same as the pocket a couple of torx near the front.
