Not sure that's correct. The maps will be updated for something like 10years, it's only the additional stuff like current traffic congestion and roadworks that requires a Skoda Connect licence.

Both of these have 'Online Map Update' listed as being under the 'Infotainment Online' licence. Also, I didn't renew, and my maps are now woefully out of date (don't care as I use CarPlay).

  2. Hi… this is the Mk2 section, and as they’re not even available to order yet, I’m guessing you’re in the wrong place…

But to answer your question, you need an active Skoda Connect licence to update the maps. The car will have come with a year free, and will be relatively up to date from the factory anyway. If memory serves me correctly, the map data is from here.com, so you could check their maps to see if your house is on there yet…

  3. What makes you think you can’t?

If it’s displaying the spider web of recent destinations, just hit the little arrow (in one of the corners, can’t remember which one as I don’t tend to use the built-in nav) to close that and show the map.

  4. <off-topic, slightly> A by-product of turning this on seems to be that Safari on macOS now displays the Briskoda logo when you have it as a favourite - Safari on iOS / iPadOS has always done it (albeit with a white background, not a black one), which suggests something I've long suspected - Safari on macOS looks for a different favicon than on iOS / iPadOS or at least does something odd / different when looking.

    macOS: image.png.34dade030ee485aa548a01fcc5e69a49.png     iOS / iPadOS: image.png.1b97a43f2ba5e2c3c17b8a6d7ad0a887.png

Anyway, if for no other reason that it fixed the favicon on macOS, thanks @Dean!

I would like to know, just to add to this, maybe a little off topic but, how do you get those in the VC? I own Scala 2023 and it only shows the album art (Music info in general) but nothing related to maps. I have Bolero infotainment system.

Do you have built-in navigation? If not, then the software in the car won't have any navigation functionality and there will be no option to show nav directions (or map) on the VC. Therefore, no way of displaying CarPlay nav instructions either.

I just ordered a new Skoda Kodiaq SEL which is on it's way from Dover to the dealership in Cardiff. 🥳

Congratulations - ordering and receiving your new Kodiaq before the order books have even opened... 😱.

Alternatively, you didn't really mean to post in the Mk2 section and should instead have posted in the Mk1 forum. Anyway, matters not... someone will probably be along shortly to move the topic into the correct place. In the meantime, you may want to take a look at:

However, like Yogi a software update seems to have fixed it......for the moment........

I'm happy to report that I'd completely forgotten about this as it still hasn't reoccured since the software was updated during the service in October. So I'm calling this 'cured', for me at least.

Which means it'll happen again next time I go anywhere 🤦‍♂️.

I am looking at Kodiaqs. The L&K in particular. Unfortunately it only comes with 7 seats and I will probably sell it with the 2 extra seats unused again. Other markets seem to have a choice even at the L&K level.

You probably know this already, but it’s stock only on the Kodiaq now (assuming you’re looking at new), with the Mk2 order books opening imminently.

As for the boot, I’ve never not been able to fit everything I need into it - be that for family holidays to the south of France, trips to the tip or home from IKEA… it swallows everything up.

As for the 7 seats, there always comes a time when it’s useful - sitting 2/1/1 so long boxes from IKEA can go down one side is one example. Grandparents visiting and only needing one car to take everyone out is another. I think Skoda UK are of the opinion that if you don’t want 7 seats, then the Karoq is the option for you.

  9. You can access the manual through the infotainment system. Depending on what you want from the manual, this may or may not work for you.

Out of interest though, what do you mean by “hard work to read”? Are you complaining about the manual itself or the format (PDF)? IMHO, it’s about as good as any car manual I’ve ever had (yes, they’re all pretty dire), so just curious what you mean by this?

  10. You might be out of luck...

All 4x4 variants in the UK come with the off-road mode, which narrows down the potential of finding someone on here that has done this.

But yes, there is no way of selecting it through the normal drive selection menu/button - it needs the off-road button to activate. Whether or not you can get around this is another matter.

And no, it doesn't require dynamic chassis control - that's just adaptive suspension (soft/normal/hard), nothing more.

What is the technical diff. between current vrs vs sportline, engine is one thing, dsg different?Any diff. on differential and suspension?

Current vRS has 245PS TSI engine, compared to 200PS (max) on the Sportline. The DSG box is the same 7-speed box on all petrol engines, I think (although I could be wrong on that one). And the vRS comes with adaptive suspension (comfort (soft), normal, sport (hard)) as standard, but this available as an option on the Sportline as well.

Aside from the engine, the key differences are pretty much cosmetic - you could add all the kit the vRS has as standard to a Sportline.

Scout version is slashed, vrs probably, but is vrs even worth waiting?

Scout version hasn't been available in the UK for a very long time... didn't realise it was still going in other markets.

There may be a vRS in the future - the Mk1 vRS didn't turn up until a couple of years after launch. It's only worth waiting for if you really want the engine, but there are no guarantees there will be one, and if there is, it could be a hybrid rather than pure petrol.

What dial are you talking about?

The volume dial in the bottom left of your photo. The one with the power button that is not in its correct orientation... which apparently triggers some people if left like that.

Android Auto is not the same. On mine it goes straight to a map at the current location with 2 suggestions, based on where the phone has been (not necessarily the car).

So yes, it is the same as Apple Maps - but that only shows one suggestion. Neither hides the map in the way the in-built system does.

  14. Because the car thinks you're incapable of driving somewhere without setting the sat nav, and so it's suggesting places you go frequently. If you never use the sat nav, then it'll never suggest anything, but it'll still show that screen. Don't take it personally, it's the same for everyone if you have the map displayed when you stop.

To be fair - CarPlay (Apple Maps) does the same... it suggests somewhere it thinks you might be going every time you set off. No idea if Google Maps / Android Auto is the same, but it wouldn't surprise me.
