  1. It happened again on Saturday morning, it was a cold and sunny one but couldn't tell you the humidity. Kept flickering for about 15 minutes before returning to normal.
  2. This happened to me once a few weeks back, I don't remember what the wether conditions were like. It is quite distracting but it hasn't happened again thankfully. At the time I thought it might have been a loose connection behind the dash as it happened once when I went over a rough patch in the road surface but then it happened on smoother sections as well.
  3. Like Sneal I'm very happy with my Mk4 and came from the same type of Superb by the sounds of it. Yes the Superb was a bit more roomy but the Octy ticks all the boxes I need even with 3 teenage boys (2 over 6 feet) and a dog! I have driven a 3 series touring recently and whilst it was nicer to drive, (but it did have the option to change suspension settings which my Octy doesn't), nicer materials inside but it was way more expensive. I've had no issues with mine and it's a nice place to be in on journeys and well equipped. I suspect though with you comparing the £38k BMW demonstrator with the Skoda that you specced is not the best method as you're likely to get the Skoda at less than £38k through something like CarWow or Drive the Deal perhaps? I could be wrong, my wife usually tells me I am, but the Octavia gets a thumbs up from me.
  4. I had initially experienced this as had a few others, it was discussed on some earlier threads. Have to say that mine, (1.5tsi) was only problematic every now and then until about 400 miles and it's been trouble free ever since.
  5. Same here, love the LED's, better improvement from my Superb. Also I've mentioned before that the auto hold is one of my favourite things I find it invaluable and it works seamlessly for me.
  6. I think it rather depends on whether you are putting them loose in the boot with a dog guard fitted over the back seats or are they going to be in travel crates / cages. If it's the former then I would have thought yes, not a problem, if it's the latter then you'd need to check the dimensions or do what I did and take the crate along and see if it fits the one in the showroom. I have the estate I'm afraid so can only comment on that.
  7. Thank you so much, that's really helpful. I shall have another go tomorrow and let you know how I get on. Appreciate your help.
  8. It's a usb c port to power a dash cam, (or anything else you want ) that you'd stick near the mirror. Saves trailing wires.
  9. This week I've noticed that the MPG readouts are acting rather strange. I normally have the current MPG on one of the dials in the virtual cockpit and either the long term or since refuelling MPG in the other. This week however both the 'long term' and 'since refuelling' are behaving like the 'current' and changing quickly as I drive. I've lost the long term data and the since refuelling which is frustrating. I haven't got around to resetting it all and see if that fixes it yet, I'll try that tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
  10. I hear what people are saying about the infotainment and agree that to find some things you have to go deeper into the menu, however the things that I use the most I have setup as a shortcut on the pull down tab so I now don't have to go into sub menus. This works for me and I can change things with the minimum of fuss. I was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of information you can have on display and I was regularly changing it on different journeys but now I seldom change anything and leave it on a setup I'm happy with. I really only tend to use the info in the virtual cockpit now as that's very easy to change on the move from the steering wheel controls. That said, I can appreciate others views, but I really like it. I've got a few glitches but I'm not losing sleep over it, I'm sure a software patch will fix that soon.
  11. No it's not subtle at all, my kids if they are in the car take the proverbial and passers by look at me like I can't drive Yeah, it feels like a normal change but when releasing the clutch it's like I haven't engaged it fully and it pops out of gear making that screech.
  12. No welcome pack here but mine was a lease, (although did come straight from the supplying dealer). I ended up buying a pair from Amazon which are nice and small, think they cost about £6
  13. This is interesting to hear as I haven't had problems engaging third and it feeling notchy but have experienced the same issue as you SoupDragon when lifting the clutch you can sometimes hear the gears grinding as if I haven't depressed the clutch enough. It's only in third though.
  14. Actually, after looking at the front door panels, I'm not convinced the led strips are in there, thus it only being standard on the SE L unless a specified option. I might be wrong, I usually am!
  15. Did you get this resolved? This is an option that I was thinking about as I leased an 'in stock' car with no options available and I really fancied the ambient lighting.
  16. Rather spookily, I had a similar issue yesterday when I had had an error message flash up saying Front Assist not available at this time. This has not happened before and the two times it happened was when I had entered thick mist / light fog so I attributed the error to the atmospheric conditions affecting the front sensor. The warning triangle disappeared when the mist cleared. Annoyingly though, I think I'd want this function to be working in these conditions just in case, but as my speeds are greatly in these conditions I'm not losing sleep over it.
  17. You can have the ignition on without starting the car by keeping your feet off the pedals and pressing the start button, then you can play with all the other settings.
  18. ...Err...yeah, obviously.... I only set it so I can get route eta's when I'm away rather than having to input it all the time. The icon is only on my road not actually near my house so I don't think it's too much a security risk for me.
  19. Glad you're enjoying the car. I have to say that the electronic handbrake, or more specifically, the Auto Hold function is something that I'm beginning to appreciate more and more since getting mine, it's one of my favourite features.
  20. Yeah, mine does that as well, the house icon shows the correct position on the map but it tells me that I have arrived when I'm two roads away!
  21. I know this is an old topic but I've been trying to get mine to connect to my new Mk iv, it connects straight away and goes through the different stages but just stalls on the 'initialising' stage no matter how long I leave it trying to finish setup. I do get a message about sharing mobile data but it disappears very quickly and I've gone through all the onboard settings to see if I need to enable something but can't see anything that jumps out at me. Can anybody shed any light on anything that I need to do at all? Thanks.
  22. Hi there, I have the Mk iv SE Technology 1.5 and it has the cylinder deactivation. I have experienced the slight 'kangarooing' when it's cold but to be honest it's not that bad and a minute or less later after it's warmed up slightly it's gone. I have the estate so can't comment on the rear wiper I'm afraid. Enjoy your new car when it arrives.
  23. Yes, I've tried with just the ignition on and also the engine on.
  24. thanks for the reply. Yes I have tried with the ignition on, engine on but it just hangs on that screen each time. It's a VW dataplug ,(will have to check the model number), that I got via a link on this site, so they have worked in other peoples Skoda before so in theory it should work.
  25. Having just got my dataplug I installed into the OBD port after downloading the connect lite app. The phone recognised the plug , connected with it then on the initialising data-plug screen it just hangs. I've left it going for 20 minutes, restarted the app and reconnected the plug but it just hangs on that screen. Has anyone else had this issue or does it just take a long time? The text at the bottom of the screen says it may take up to 60 secs but not in my case it seems.
