That's what I've been told too, my hardware won't accept anything further than it has already has (1696 I think) and hence it's going back in for them to change the hardware so it can be updated to the latest software.

Mine went into the dealer again yesterday and I've now been told that there are no software updates for my car as the head unit (B I think) has the most up to date software for it and it won't accept any of the new software fixes. Therefore I need the unit replaced, just waiting for a date they can do that. Hopefully that won't take long and will finally sort all the issues.

I had this last year and they performed a software update which worked for about 4 months. 7 weeks ago it started happening again, once a week at first but over the past 4 weeks it's been every journey and again affecting the infotainment system, especially the ability to use Satnav, onboard or Apple. It was booked in again for today and I was told shortly after leaving it with them that there were no fault errors logged and therefore nothing they could do, oh and if it happens again to book it in!!! I calmly said it is happening every day and that you had fixed it once before so why can't you do that again. I was then told that there was no software fix for this currently and they'd be in touch again when they had one 🤬 Thank goodness I've only got 5 months left on the lease. No more Skodas for me.

Mine went in again yesterday as the SOS was playing up again and it started randomly asking for my S Pin every day. I was told there was a software recall that should fix these and they had it all day. I'm still on suffix B and 1668 after picking it up though, not really bothered as long as the problems don't arise again. Only 10 months left on the lease so fingers crossed.

Mine went in for a full day of updates a couple of weeks ago, then the SOS issue started. Hopefully by now you'd have thought Skoda would have sent out instructions to dealers on which updates to miss out to prevent it happening, but then my dealer only contacted Skoda to see if they had any idea on how to fix the SOS issue, so I'm not sure if there is any communication from HQ down. Fingers crossed yours gets sorted ok.

Mine went in to the dealer yesterday to try and fix this and they told me that after speaking to Skoda technical they were instructed to do a hard reset and then only reload some of the updates it went in for a couple of weeks ago. Seems that perhaps some of the recent software updates might be causing the issue. Would make sense as mine has been trouble free, (software wise) until it had a whole day of updates done. Fingers crossed that's that sorted.

Sorry to hear your woes, I have lost all faith in them to be honest and what they say as mine went in for a full day of software updates 2 weeks ago and straight away the infotainment system wouldn't work and now I have the SOS issue. I asked them if they have had a lot of Mk iv's in for issues and they said I was the first, yeah right!

Mine was in for a full day of software updates a couple of weeks ago, even though I've been lucky enough not to have had any issues with the car really, (apart from a badly factory fitted wire). The only thing I had noticed afterwards was every now and then when I unlocked and opened the door, any door, there was a noise from the speakers and the only way I can describe it was like a short burst of machine gun fire! Didn't really bother me so haven't done anything about it but on a long journey on the way back from the coast yesterday I started getting the double popping noise and then the SOS alert. It started to make a call but then cut itself off before a connection was made. This happened about 4 times before it had a meltdown then I lost all the infotainment and radio etc. So, despite apparently having all the latest software updates I have to book it in again this morning to see if they can sort this one out!

I've just got back from the garage again as the sat nav wasn't working so he hooked it up for 5 minutes and it's now all working again . I've got the 1.5 but don't have the camera, can't say I've noticed anything different at all to be honest.

Apparently it's to do with the head unit code, mine ends in B so 1668 is the latest update for that unit.

Those three updates are what I got too but again no idea what they are for. Good to know that's what others with the same headunit have got.

Thanks for the swift reply. That's interesting to know, mine ends in a B so that explains it. To be honest, I'm not really bothered as it all works fine, (well it did until yesterday!). Going back in this afternoon for them to see what the issue is with the sat nav, luckily it's only 10 minutes away.

To be honest, I'm a bit confused by all the variations in the updates. Mine has been on 1664 since I got it last October and I've had no issues with the car at all apart from the HVAC but that was due to a wire being in the wrong place. It spent the whole day at the dealers yesterday for a software update and now it's only on 1668. I haven't a scooby what these really mean but with others in the 1700's and even 1800's it all sounds a bit odd.

Interesting to see your software version is 1803. Mine went in to the dealer yesterday for a whole day of software updates but mine only went from 1664 to 1668. On top of that the Sat nav now won't load, it just seems stuck on the loading screen!

Chatting with the mechanic, he did say that the head units, (radio), were terrible with wires trailing where they shouldn't.

UPDATE Just got back from the dealership and it's fixed! They thought it might be the small motor / mechanism that operates the recirc valve that had become faulty and ordered the part in to replace it but when they took the glove box out and looked around it was a pinched wire that had not been installed correctly at the factory, hence why it was going haywire when I used other things on the car. The master mechanic was great to be fair and he put it all where it should be and now I can drive in blasts of cold air. Just in time for a temperature drop and the rain So glad it's done now. Might be worth speaking to your dealer about it as once he identified what it was it was a quick fix.

If it is then it's broke as it shouldn't make the noise that it does, not even my teenage son slams his bedroom door as loud as this thing That is just part of the issue though, the whole of the HVAC system has a mind of its own. Just as an update, the dealer rang me 30 minutes ago to guess what?.......Cancel the booking for tomorrow as the air con machine is broken again I politely suggest that after 5 weeks of breakdowns they get it repaired or hire a new one in. This local dealer have always been useless but unfortunately they are only 2 miles away and alternatives are much further away.

Hi there. I have exactly the same problem and posted on here about it a few weeks ago. I have been waiting for over 4 weeks for the garage to sort it out, 3 times now they have rung me the night before the appointment to postpone due to their Air con machine being broke and as you can imagine it's not pleasant in this weather. I can also trigger the loud clunk by going into reverse gear, activating the front windscreen washer and turning the AC back on! Hopefully it's a simple fix and it's slightly comforting to know I'm not the only one experiencing it. Interesting that I have the same spec as you as well and got mine in October. The car is finally due in tomorrow so hopefully I'll have an answer for you after that.

Sorry, can't remember what the thread was called now but you should be able to just search for 3rd gear issues and it'll come up. Sounds like you need a new gearbox! My issue was only in 3rd and only for the first 3-400 miles, it's all fine now.

Thanks but yeah I checked that, but no it's something more fundamental, the valves are opening and closing on their own accord.

It's now packing up completely, even on manual. The fans are whirring away but hardly nothing comes out, then it all shuts down and starts up again 30 seconds later! Booked in for next week so I shan't be driving it in this weather until it's fixed if I can help it.

Yes. it'll be interesting to see what the issue is. I normally have it set to auto all year round and I know the AC works as having a wet dog in the winter it does a good job clearing the windows quickly but this is the first time I've been aware of the noise, probably because of my frustration! I'll keep you posted.

That sounds identical to the issues I've got except changing to manual and vice versa didn't have any effect That was how it was with my Superb and other cars I've had but this one, the fans seem to be going full tilt but nothing is coming out so it seems some valves etc are not working as they should. Can't drive it if the weather is over 24 degrees or similar so it most definitely will be getting sorted soon I hope. I got mine first week of October and it was built in August I believe.

Now generally I think I've been lucky with my car so far seeing as it was an early production model but as this warmer weather finally appears it has shown some terrible flaws in the HVAC system. On all my previous cars when you turn the AC to max cold I've had a hurricane of icy cold air but not on this one. No matter how long I have spent adjusting all the controls in manual and auto all I get is a feeble waft of air so I've ended up having the windows open which is less than ideal especially on the motorway. Every now and then when I've switched the car on the HVAC roars and there is a gush of air flow but seconds later that stops and no matter what I do I can't replicate it. When I was driving the other day there was a loud clunking noise from front the passenger side footwell as if some HVAC flaps or valves were slamming closed and most, if not all of the flow slowed to a trickle. Even pulling over and switching off and on again couldn't fix it. I'm not a big fan of the 'non button' HVAC system but I do know my way around it. I'm arranging for it to go in to the dealer for it's software update soon, so hopefully they'll be able to see what the issue is before I slowly roast alive in the car. Has anyone else experienced issues with the HVAC? A quick search of the forum didn't show anything.
