So got the car back from Skoda...they said there was a very slight leak from the rear crank oil seal. Said it would require the gearbox to be removed to replace the seal @ 9hrs labour + parts, it would be at least €1k. They seemed to think that it isn't really serious enough to warrant going to all that expense as it's not using any oil....Not sure what to do

Thanks for all the information. I rang the (independent) garage back that serviced my car and asked them for a price to repair the seal...but the guy couldn't remember my car (and hadn't written it on the invoice) and couldn't be sure if it was the gearbox or the driveshaft so he's asked me to bring the car back for another look. Dropping it down later and he's going to put it up on the ramp and have another look.

Ran my vin through the Recall actions tool and looks like I've had all recall actions applied

Rang Skoda there and they told me that 34F7 was carried out in June 2014 (along with 74C7 which was the heater elements in the seats)
She said there was no other campaigns showing as required.

1 hour ago, Offski said:
Not worried about your engine oil.
It is your DSG after the Engine change and then Oil loss, then MCU failure.
Have a look up top on the DQ200 DSG pinned thread. Sittingbull had the issue, and others have, and it is getting a bit more common.
I only added the bit about my engine oil for reference (as I'm still a little bit bitter about it, having complained since the very first service that the car was using too much oil and constantly being told it was within parameters)
Why does the issue manifest itself after a new engine I wonder? The garage seemed to be suggesting they could just replace the seal and all would be good. Would this be the case if caught in time?

It did get the mineral oil change and software update yes.
I had the new engine fitted just over 2 years ago by a Skoda dealer. (It's not used a single drop of oil since)

Dropped my 2011 Fabia vRS in for a service and they mentioned to me that there was oil weeping from the clutch. I'm probably being really ignorant here but I thought the DSG was a dry clutch?

Thanks for the information GoneOffSKi
I would say the technician has never worked on one of these before...I'm in the Republic of Ireland and there are probably 20 Fabia RS's in the country so chances are pretty slim he has. I have taken the car back from the garage and will be sending it into a company that specialise in engine reconditioning/rebuilding
-
He did say he was trying to clear it so I presume that's what he was doing. He said he'll have another look on Monday.
-
Just off the phone to the mechanic there...said there was a broken wire to coil pack/plug #4....said petrol has washed the cylinder and there is no compression....most likely needing an engine rebuild. 32k miles on the clock...unreal. :(
-
Yeh I cleared the fault but it returned straight away. I've booked it in to be looked at tomorrow.

Hey guys....have a 2011 Fabia vRS....the other night while driving home, the car lost power and went into limp mode...it's idling very rough and is very down on power...I scanned the car and the below fault appeared. Has anyone any idea what the problem is? (There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on the net about it)
1 Fault Found:
2913 - Position Sensor for Intake Air Regulating FlapP10A5 00 [039] - Signal too High -
On a recent trip to Kerry in the South West of Ireland

In the Republic of Ireland the paddles were an option. Both my dealer and I only discovered this when the car I ordered arrived without them. I rejected the car and offered Skoda the chance to fit the correct wheel with paddles however they told me it wasn't possible so I had to reorder a new car all over again. Absolute nightmare!
I'd be very interested to hear how you get on.

35mpg long term average over 3 years. Best I can generally manage is 46/47mpg on a 100 mile run.

......Not, Cos I've tried it:-
Engine warmed up, Left foot on foot brake, Select Sport, Release hand brake, right foot on Volume peddle, press slowly to floor, revs rise to about 1200 RPM, Hold on tight but keep eyes open, release brake and.........F**K all
I have been experimenting with this lately, although just leaving it in D, left foot on the brake and right foot flat on the accelerator. As soon I'm ready to go, just release the brake and the car shoots away from the lights. Is this bad for the gearbox? Surely since the car's not moving and the revs stay very low, it's not putting a strain on the gearbox/clutches?

I know this is an old thread, but still very useful. I am about to pick up my vRS and was wondering how to play music on it. Yeah for sure it comes with an iphone4 connector, but that meant, I'd be in a pickle if I am driving and received a call, as I dont have Bluetooth/parrot on it.
And from what you say, the drive makes scrolling faster and also provides resume, rather than re-scan of the whole drive.
thanks for this tip.

I don't think having a hard drive is any faster per se, it just means you can organise your music the way you wish rather than using iTunes. I just use playlists with mine and never have a problem.
My iPod resumes from the last position in a song after I turn the car off and back on,

Yes my car makes this noise too, generally only in very warm weather though. I can stop it by pressing on the plastic near the steering wheel.

When the bong is bonging , the radio screen turns on and it says PHONE, you can adjust the volume.

Just tried this at the weekend and I was able to change the volume of the bong using the volume on the radio
-
Doesn't it depend on the volume on the radio so just turn that down?

Thanks for that! I had got to step 8...now to just give step 9 a go.Most - if not all - of what you need to know seems to be in here: http://www.briskoda....w-to-with-pics/
DSG clutch weeping oil
in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)

That's what has me confused..
The new engine doesn't use a drop of oil...I've never had to top it up between services and there's never any oil on the ground where I park...and sometimes my car stays in the same place for days on end as I cycle to work.
