  1. Would the child locks and/or a bit of education on the dangers of opening the door not be a better idea?

Education on a two year old doesn't really work :) I suppose at least people aren't trying to rip off the handles anymore, I just think it's a bad design.
  2. Just wondering is it possible to make the door handles on the MkII RS require two pulls to open the doors(like the MkI vRS). At the moment, even though I have auto lock enabled, it only requires one pull to open the door. I find this a bit dangerous as they can be opened while on the move and given how light the door handles are, it's very easy for children to open them....so is it possible to make them require two pulls? I will try using VCDS tomorrow but was just wondering if anyone else had already done it?

  3. This is the kinda things that make me feel crap about buying a new car :(

I'm not letting it get to me...it is kinda sickening but ah well, a lot worse could have happened. I'm just back from a 100mile drive...averaged 43mpg which I was fairly happy with given that there's less than 300miles on the engine. It's just a stunning stunning car(and yes I did mean to type stunning twice). The ease with which it gathers speed is astonishing...pulling out of towns and accelerating from 30mph to 60mph is completely effortless. Managing the lights, DSG paddles, cruise control and radio controls all with the left hand can sometimes require the accuracy of a concert pianist but once you get used to it, it's a joy...all my nephews are calling it the playstation car :)
  4. Awesome :D Enjoy!! Bet you'll be like a bottle of pop on the drive there lol

I've over 300miles to cover this weekend so wasn't looking forward to doing that in the 1.2 Mazda2 courtesy car I've had for the last few months. CAN'T WAIT for the drive now :)
  5. are you sure you were not looking at the bolt covers, all bolts have covers on them and my new vrs hadlocking wheel nuts and the key in the boot.

Pretty sure I wasn't looking at the bolt covers...I'm in Ireland so there are slight spec differences...will make sure to check when I collect the car.
  6. i know what you mean, i only waited 9 weeks for mine and i was really dying to get it. I know someone else who has one on order and has to wait till november, he came in mine for a drive and he wants his now!

I've been tempted on a few occasions to take another one for a test drive in a different garage but have resisted....delivery day can't come quick enough now! :)
  7. everything got sorted and within half hour i was on the way (with the full tank of super) and OMG! what a car, id forgotten since the test drive the speed of the thing! obviously not pushing it too hard as its a new engine. but its brilliant, and i cant resist winding down the window in tunnels to listen to the turbo and supercharger whining and whistling away!

cant think of much else to say at the moment, but jesus, whoever of you are still waiting, hope you get it soon because its brilliant!!

    cheers Ash

Hey Ash, glad you got it sorted...I'm hopin 2 have my car in the next 7 days...it's posts like yours that are getting me very excited...last time I drove an RS was October 2010 so I'm absolutely dying to just drive my new car!
  8. 106Rallye weighed hardly anything and went round bends well, thats why its quick. same goes for the clios. stick them ina straight line and they are not that quick at all especially in gear acceleration. and pretty much everything else has huge cubic capacity and extra cylinders compared to yours.
Agreed...I test drove a good few Clio 197's before buying my vRS and yes they have more bhp but I was completely underwhelmed...in a straight line they didn't really feel that fast at all.

Same goes for the R32 golf...test drove a MkV R32 and was soo disappointed (well except for the noise! :)).

  9. Hey louisv6

I am in the same position as yourself...ordered my vrs in January, went to collect it in April, dealer was showing me the various controls on the car when I realised the steering wheel had no audio controls or flappy paddles for DSG :(

Turns out in the Republic of Ireland they aren't standard (even though they were included on every demonstration car in the country, were listed as standard equipment on the specification sheet beside the demonstration model in the showroom, were listed on the website as a feature of the car ("This is amplified by the ability to shift gears using control elements under the multifunctional leather steering wheel.") and I was assured the demonstration model was standard) I felt like a total d1ckh€ad rejecting the car however the flappy paddles were one of the things I was most looking forward to.

Having waited so long and being so excited getting my first new car I actually felt physically sick and had a few sleepless nights after rejecting the car. I have since placed my order again and the garage are sourcing me a courtesy car until my new car arrives.
