  1. It’s only really been motorway driving so no. The garage has been unable to diagnose so far but I might try somewhere else.
  2. Hi all, I have a 2012 Octavia Hatch with 125,000 miles on it. Had it since new. It's developed a droning noise from the front between 60 and 80 mph. Quite loud. My immediate thought is the wheel bearing but could it be anything else before I commit to an expensive repair? Just FYI I had the wheels swapped front to back to rule out a tyre issue and the rearmost front suspension bushes have recently been replaced. It was droning before then, Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, John
  3. Has anyone got any experience of fitting that ducting that sends fan air to the rear of a Mk2 Octavia? I have attempted this today but the ducting isn't quite aligning and I think it's due to the way I bolted the front section of the ducting down. I removed the bolt in front of the handbrake, put the duct over the stud and then replaced the bolt. But, as a result, I think the ducting is sitting too low. Appreciate it's a very niche question but, if anyone has done it, I'd appreciate your help!
  4. Hi, I'm retrofitting a jumbo armrest to my Octavia and the part has an aux socket inside (the bit the armrest will fit over) which won't connect up to anything in my car. This is annoying so I have two options: 1. Convert it to a USB port and run the lead through to the stereo (retrofitted pioneer) or... 2. Put a blank over it. Of course, I could just leave it unconnected which would be perfectly fine for any normal human being but, I will know it doesn't do anything and it will annoy me! My question is if anyone know of a USB conversion kit for this aux port? Or indeed if its possible just to blank it off?
  5. No need! Found this. https://autocatalogarchive.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Skoda-Octavia-2012-UK.pdf It’s Onyx cloth. 👍
  6. Thanks. I just wondered if it can be derived from the VIN. The Connect SE was the last of the Mark 2s. They put loads of kit on them and sold them off cheap to make way for the Mark 3. are you able to attach a photo of the trim options from your manual?
  7. Is anyone able to help me work out how you find what colour trim is in my car? it’s a 2012 Connect SE.
  8. Hi Great job. I can’t recall as it was done at the same time as getting the front springs replaced and a service. But it was probably North of 200 including the part. You’ll have saved a ton of cash doing it yourself but it was too big a job for me.
  9. Replace. It comes as one unit. Had it happen to me recently. YouTubed what it would take to fit an aftermarket kit and decided to take it to a mechanic. He advised using a genuine part as he said the kits often don’t fit very well in his experience.
  10. In case anyone wants to know how to do this. You need 2 x N10622701 and 1 x 1K0881545. I used this as a guide for removing the seat. My seat is slightly different but it’s a case of removing the seat ensuring the battery is disconnected before unplugging the airbag cable. Once the seat was off you have to take the back off the seat. This is simply done by taking two bolts (screws?) off each side. But to get access to those you need to remove the plastic trim on each side of the seat base. Just take your time and don’t use excessive force and it all comes apart. There is a cable linking the back of the seat and the base so be careful with that. It might be possible to unthread it so you can work on the seat frame unencumbered but I didn’t bother. Finally you need to unclip the back of the seat cover and put the bracket in. It is held by two screws and it’s really obvious how it goes together. You need to create two holes in the seam of the seat cover to fit the isofix loops through. I just used a Stanley knife to pick away the stitching and stitched at each end of the holes to stop them unravelling. I had initially intended to take this to a trimmer but couldn’t find one that would answer their phone!
  11. Hi all Just to let you know I did this. Fairly simple job but you need to take the back of the seat off so it’s a simple job but allow two to three hours. J
  12. Hi all A scan of the forums suggests that it is possible to retrofit isofix to the passenger seat of a mark 2 Octavia. Part number seems to be 1K0881545. Anyone got experience of doing this? I will soon need a third isofix point and this would be a lot cheaper than a new car!
  13. Hi. I plumped for a Pioneer head unit in the end. The RCD330 looks good but the DAB is important to me which is why I didn’t go for that one. What I did find is that the tone from the parking sensors doesn’t come from the head unit at all. I still get the beeps and was getting them even when there was no head unit in the car. I don’t get the visual display when reversing any more bit it’s no big deal.
  14. Thanks. The part number N9069863 is what I needed. All sorted now.
  15. In case anyone is looking at this later on, I didn't have to do this. It is handled by the harness that converts the quad lock interface to the standard interface on the after market head unit.
  16. Hi all, One of my centre console screws in my Octavia 2 FL has vanished into thin air. (Or I've lost it) I can't find replacements online anywhere. Any ideas? There are a few larger screws available but this one is around 12mm across the head and about 16mm long from the underside of the head.
  17. I ended up doing this mod myself and I’m really pleased with it. I didn’t need to hard wire the ignition as I used the Connect2 harness. Also I found a really nice USB solution that uses one of the blanks beneath the heating controls so it blends in nicely. Also I used a VW fascia as the previous head unit was out of a Golf. In my opinion it looks better as there is less black plastic to look at.
  18. I’m looking at doing this too. Did you have you run a cable through to the fuse box for the switched ignition?
  19. Hi I’ve got a 2012 Octavia SE Connect. A few years back I replaced the original Bolero unit with a VW RCD510 unit. I fitted a windscreen mounted dab aerial at the same time. Nowadays I stream almost all my music from Spotify on my phone so I’m wondering if anyone is aware of a plug and play option for the Mk2 that offers Apple CarPlay? Ideally I’d want DAB and the rear parking sensors to continue working. I’m not bothered about playing CDs. John
  20. It’s a lot better now. Lower traffic volumes and fully open motorway means you can do the whole stretch at 60.
  21. Thanks all. I must admit the touchscreen is something I already had concerns about before even posting here. They seem to have just stuck a massive tablet on the dash! Maybe I’m just getting old but some recent car innovations don’t feel like progress. Thanks for setting my mind at rest on the economy though.
  22. Been reading up on this. I can’t believe the issues some people are facing.
  23. That’s really helpful, thanks. As it happens, most of my driving would be on the M27 as well. I guess the 60 limit helps.
  24. After being shocked at the price of used Octavias, I’m looking seriously at buying new. I’ve had a decent quote for a 1.5TSI estate but my preference is diesel. I have a ten year old 1.6TDI hatch that consistently gives me 55+ on motorway/a-road driving. Anyone got real numbers for the 1.5TSI? Is it a good engine?
