  1. Never going back. I have been to Bolton Skoda since parkside days.... And more often than not, have left with an issue that wasn't there before...scratched paintwork. Etc. Last year's took car for MOT ...it passed. Went to retrieve it...engine warning light was on. Mechanics checked and pushed it in for assessment. Chain needed replacing. £800+ During service 6 months later , rear coil corrosion and an oil leak were noted. Two weeks later a different coil broke. Replaced the coil. Weird noise coming from suspension that wasn't there before, steering wheel off by a few degrees. They think coil wasn't seated correctly. Car returned , same issue... Two weeks later. Clunking noise when reversing out of a car park bay. Parked up. Called brake down. Told the recovery chap where the problem lay and what was recently done... He drove it 10m and rechecked underneath... He thinks garage did a bodge coil change and the drive shaft is knackered because of it. Back in for a new driveshaft... they even ordered the wrong driveshaft so further delays. Now the garage suggests 5 oil leaks which will cost £1700 to fix... Plus corrosion to two flexi joints on the exhaust... But one is connected to the cat... Another £800+... Wtf? I dwelled on this for a couple of months, got them to requote and print the problems. Enough is enough, I went to an independent garage with the list of faults. 1. Flexi joints only corroded on outer shell, a piece can be welded in but they think it's fine for a good while. Passes a smoke test 2. After a clean up of the "leaks" they discovered a seal was faulty, and may require a new pipe to the turbo... During repair they didn't need the pipe, only a seal. Total cost... Approx £100. Do the maths. All Bolton RRG Skoda want, is either your money or flog you a new car. They have ripped me off. Go to an independent garage. I highly recommend Church Wharf.
  2. MOT last weekend noted a "bit" of oil, but not something to panic about or cause a fail. But it was like that for last year's service... Noticing a little bit.. This year's service put red markers on my check list, here here here here here......think I'll visit an independent and get their opinion. I'm not noticing loss of oil. And I have no means to look underneath.
  3. Hi, I'm in a quandary and seek advice. I have a 2010 Octavia Scout, 1.8tfsi. already had a replacement chain and drive shaft. I'm not a hard driver, driving it the same as my previous reliable tank of a Fabia. I drive 240miles a week mostly motorway. Recent Skoda service noted 5 oil leaks...and Flexi joint issue. Engine sump seal oil leak, rear crank oil seal, gear box oil leak, transfer case oil leak, and rear differential oil leak. A lot of work. Well over a 4 figure sum. On top of that, two flexi joints in the exhaust. One of which I'm told is connected to the catalytic converter (one piece) - is this true or can a Flexi joint be replaced on its own? Otherwise that is another pricey item.... I cannot afford a new car! Should I get the Skoda garage to do the work? Look elsewhere for cheaper garage? Etc etc never been in this quandary before. Advice please.
  4. Sadly money is tight. £800+ 6 months ago replacing an about to go chain, recent service flags rear spring and an oil leak. 2 weeks later during oil leak checkup, and a noise i reported around front suspension, booked in to get coil fixed. During repair, another checkup (2 weeks after service, same Skoda garage) during that now reveals 5 oil leaks and some exhaust pipe things need replacing. 1300 please.... Forget that for a while.
  5. Will do. Another thing to note. The wheel they had to take off, there's extra tyre noise (and movement?) from it since the spring so it probably is tracking wrong.
  6. Hi, prior to having an OSF coil spring replaced my steering wheel was level. Now it's angled at about 3 minutes past. Driving along a road with a long left bend, the steering wheel is straight. Whats happened?
  7. Does anyone have a copy of the original post with pictures? I 'm hoping to replace the cover of my Octavia brake lever cover this weekend.
  8. Hi, can anyone recommend an android unit with dab so that I can simply swap out my my bolero for it without changing facia. I have maxi dot and bolero shows phone contacts/air con etc. Ideally one that comes from a UK seller and not an eBay seller from Hong Kong. My car is a 2010 scout with facelift.
  9. Can this cause the judder? Legal tread on front tyres, so should be OK grip, albeit they'll be replaced in jan/Feb.
  10. When I was on the dole and rarely using my car during summer the battery would be near flat after 2 weeks without a good drive. Either get a solar trickle charger, ask someone to drive it for 10 minutes each week, or prepare for jump starting.
  11. The TCS/ESP light has been coming on for the past few weeks in particular during a damp early morning start for work.. return trip if dry light doesn't appear. This morning when approaching 50mph there was some juddering, the TCS light appeared and flickered then stayed on along with ECS. The maxidot gear selection number also flickered. Weather this morning was very wet. What is going on? I have a 2010 scout 1.8 tsi For the past few days I've also had the light bulb warning for No bend lighting (AFS) appearing.
  12. I've just started to get the No bend lighting (AFS) message in my octavia scout 2010. The lights are all working, the front lights this morning did their little left to right up and down jiggle... I seem to have a few sensor warnings of late that appear on wet days, in particular TCS/ESP. I'm going to post about this in another thread. Think it's damp causing woes? Or something else...
  13. Has anyone had a sunroof fitted to an Octavia Scout? (2010 facelift model).
  14. I cannot always get to a Skoda dealer spare parts department, hence online would have been a better option.
  15. Where (in the UK) can i source one of these estate boot lock covers? http://www.skodaczesci.pl/oferta/czesc.php?id=4288
