  1. I've fitted a towbar to my Superb. But not the electrics... Frustratingly, my car wasn't towbar prepped and the Westfalia kit that came with it is missing the loom that runs from the Westfalia towbar module to the BCM module at the front of the car. Westfalia don't sell just this loom, but it looks like I could get the correct part from skoda-parts (3V0 055 204 C) for about £60. I would then have to pull off all the interior trim down one side of the car, run this loom from front to back, and then get the computer recoded once it's all connected up. Alternatively, I could just get a bypass relay to run the 7 pin socket for about £25, which would cut into the loom by the tail lights. No recoding necessary, and I don't have to pull half the interior out. Westfalia have claimed that a bypass relay isn't appropriate for my vehicle (but have kindly offered to sell me a whole new towbar electrics kit for £170), but an auto electrician has told me that a bypass relay is okay (he won't fit my secondhand Westfalia towbar module but will fit a bypass relay that he'll sell me...) Obviously neither opinion is entirely unbiased, so I'm coming to the collective wisdom here for advice... Assuming there's no technical reason why a bypass kit wouldn't work, I'm wondering whether the fancy kit is worth it, as (1) I don't have parking sensors, so don't need them turned off when I put the car in reverse, and (2) I'm only going to be attaching a bike rack (not a caravan) so don't need the stability program to act as if it's towing a trailer when the 7 pin lightboard is connected. So, is there any good reason for me to go for the whole module instead of just a bypass relay? Thanks in advance!
  2. I can confirm that the quad lock connector I ordered from AliExpress fits the back of the MIB2 head unit.
  3. I've ordered one of these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32833753513.html It's been on the slow boat from China, but I'll let you know if it fits the back of my new unit when it gets here!
  4. My current unit has DAB, but no GPS. Digging around myself, I found this: https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/diy-mib2-infotainment-conversion-into-2018-s-models.359659/ Looks like someone has done this for a 2018 Golf, so I'm optimistic it should be doable for the Superb.
  5. Thanks for your input @MarkyG82 You are correct - I don't currently have a unit in the glovebox. The cables that would run to the back of the glovebox unit currently run to the back of the big one-piece unit (attached image) which correlate with lots of the connections on the back of the Amundsen glovebox unit I've bought (other attached image) and display unit (last attached image). The big rectangular one is pretty obvious. The yellow one should be the same, as should the double white one. My guess is that the pink connector on the glovebox unit will connect to the back of the display (I need this cable). Not sure about the round blue and black connectors? Presumably one of them is the equivalent of the round metal connector on the back of the L53SK2 unit I currently have (bottom left of the first picture) I can see that there are some extra black rectangular connections on the back of the Amundsen unit - not sure what they're for? GPS?
  6. Thanks @langers2k. I'll try to get my head around that (thank goodness for Google translate).
  7. I've got a 2017 1.6 TDi S, which has a combined display and head unit (L53SK2 - I think it's called Swing in Skoda Speak). I've bought an upgraded head unit and display (Amundsen) which came without any cables. Whilst the main harness that connects to the back of the Swing should just connect into the back of the new head unit, I don't have the cable that runs from the head unit to the display (because the L53SK2 is just a one-piece unit). It's the one in the attached pic, and I'm struggling to find a part number for this cable (the parts catalog that this picture came from does not have the part number listed - it's just labelled "array") and Skoda are being very slow in getting back to me... Any help appreciated!
  8. Thanks to both @ope126 and @langers2kfor the quick replies! I guess I'm not going to be 100% sure either way until I bite the bullet and start pulling things apart. I've got the base model 1.6 Tdi S, but it has a few apparently random extras like multifunction steering wheel and heated wing mirrors. I don't think I'll go so far as to get a new AC panel - probably just wire up a new switch from one of the many blanks that currently adorn my dashboard...
  9. @ope126When your screen was being fitted, did you notice if the wiring to connect to the heating elements was already in situ on the car?
  10. As title really. I'm looking to potentially upgrade a Swing (a combined stereo and head unit) to an Amundsen (needing separate stereo and head unit in the glove box), but I cannot find anywhere to buy the cable that goes between the units. Even the Skoda dealer can't find a part number...
  11. I know it's a bit of a thread resurrection, but thanks for coming back to post this info. The local Skoda franchised stealer were spectacularly unhelpful in telling me that 3V0845011AE NVB was not a heated windscreen and refused to give me the part number for a heated windscreen. Fortunately, your post gave me the courage to pull the trigger on one with that exact part number which (lo and behold) does have connectors at the bottom of the screen for the heating element...
  12. Also interested in retrofitting a heated screen to a 2017 TDI S. On the plus side, mine doesn't have the fancy cameras that would need recalibrating with a new screen, but on the minus side, it doesn't have the heated seats, so there might be some heater relay/extra control module required. Can anyone shed any more light on what is required?
  13. Sorry to hear about your dad. Is the car a hatch or an estate? Thanks
