  1. Hi Guys,

I’d like to thank you all for the information re fuel consumption figures.

I have had 4x4s before and realise you do take a bit of a hit on consumption but living where I do it’s worth it.

I found the Sportline incredibly comfortable. However I couldn’t get away with the 19” rims with low profile tyres as we regularly visit friends who live in a farmhouse next to a disused quarry and the road is unbelievably bad.

I toyed with the idea of changing the rims to a smaller size with a higher profile tyre but the leasing company refused my request!

The result is I have ordered a new Honda HRV e-HEV which should arrive next July or August.

  2. Check the roof very carefully for scratches..... these often happen when a tall transporter drives along a road with overhanging trees.

When I was sales manager at a Volvo dealership, the transporter drivers used to hate it if I checked a car off. I’m 6’7” and perfect height for checking car roofs for scratches and I found several cars with scratched roofs.
It’s worth checking bodywork very carefully because once you drive off the forecourt, it’s up to you!

I bought the Karoq on the back of my fantastic 9 year old Octavia Scout. One of the best cars I have ever owned. The Karoq has all the bells and whistles you could want but, with squeaky back brake pads when reversing, juddering drivers wiper blade, even when replaced with Bosch blades and a wiper motor that seems to have difficulty in moving the blades when the screen is slightly wet. The Ford Anglia 105E that I once owned had a more powerful wiper motor than the Karoq. Having owned the Karoq since june 2018, I have lost faith in Skoda and am now looking at the Peugeot 3008 as my next vehicle.

Hi.... I had a Karoq which had two unfixable faults... the "kangaroo problem" (which I believe now has a resolution) and the dangerous one..... intermittent zero throttle response when outside temp below about 5 degrees and engine temp below about 70 degrees... terrifying.

I had a fantastic Yeti and then the problematic Karoq so I lost confidence in the brand. My wife had her second Peugeot 2008 (first one a diesel manual and now a 1.2 petrol auto) which have been faultless, I bought a Peugeot 3008 1.6 petrol auto (8 speed) and it's superb.

I am very "picky" about my cars. I'm ex motor trade and worked at Toyota, Fiat, Honda and finally ending up, for my sins, as sales manager at a Volvo dealership. I bought the 3008 having driven the 2008 and so impressed after the test drive and went for it.

I can heartily recommend the Pug.. it beats my last three cars (Yeti, BMW X1, Karoq) hands down.

    Good luck!

    @GeoffH

Did i read in another thread that you no longer have this car?

Could you maybe update here for the sake of others having issues, if that was the reason you no longer have the Karoq?

    thanks

    George

I still have the car until next week when it goes.

Its such a shame but I’ve had enough.

Hi all my dsg equipped car has similar problems to everyone else 20-30 mph light throttle gives it a nice stutter but mine also had a very dangerous thing as it suffered from no throttle response which was very unnerving and scared the hell out of the wife. The problem occurred when rolling up to a junction lift off the brakes rolling momentum carries you out into the road and you naturally press the accelerator and yep nothing happened engine sat on tick over not to bad in town but when joining a 60 mph road made it interesting. Took skoda over 2 months to write new software for it, l refused to drive it so they put me in a hire car hope this helps. Ironically it's going back in Friday as the stutter is no better but not had the unresponsive issues reappear yet

When I read this post, I thought I’d written it! It mirrors my history with the 1.5 DSG Karoq.

The car had three weeks off the road in the first three months. Totally unacceptable, even though I had a hire car. Now the stutter is as bad as ever and like the OP I haven’t had the dangerous zero throttle response issue.... BUT.... it’s much warmer now and my zero throttle response only happened when the outside temperature was about 5 degrees or below, so it could be next winter before it raised its head again.

It’s very sad as apart from the above it’s an excellent vehicle.

  6. Set of 4 genuine Skoda Karoq rubber mats. Only been in car for approx 2000 miles. Selling as car is being returned!

With the overwhelmingly positive response, and the small cost of 150 GBP, I went for it. As an added bonus the dealer mentioned my build week went down from 24 to 22 as well! Can't wait :)

You made the right choice. Unfortunately I have to change my Karoq and there’s no option on my new Pug 3008 for a heated steering wheel or heated windscreen. I’ll miss them both but especially the heated steering wheel!

  9. I have had the fix to alleviate the throttle response problem when cold and it seems to be fine.... as well as having the intermittent lack of throttle response sorted (I hope!) I seem to have smoother starts when pulling away at junctions... even with my size 12s I am not getting as much wheelspin!

The bunnyhop fix is supposed to come later in Q2 but the “dangerous?” problem seems to have been sorted.

I the fix doesn’t work I may well go for the 1.0 DSG which hopefully doesn’t have the same problems.

Its a known issue and is a design limitation.

In effect a false alarm. It usually only brakes briefly (<1 sec) until the car turning is out of the radar zone.

    It wakes you up though!

In motor trade lingo I think it’s “characteristic of the model”! It certainly does wake you up the first time it happens but it’s the only niggle I have found with the fantastic ACC system. I have had standard cruise control on many cars but the adaptive cruise is a system once you have used it you’ll find it hard to do without it.

  11. Update.... yet again I had no throttle response having driven 1 mile and stopped to buy a paper.

    Outside temperature 2.2 degrees.

I restarted, engaged Diive, released the footbrake and nothing happened. (No warning lights, auto handbrake on, stop start on.)

Rather than releasing the throttle and trying again I kept my foot to the floor (There was nothing in front of me!) ...... very slowly, after approximately 5 seconds, the power increased and I moved off.

Skoda promise a software upgrade in Q2 but that could be June?

I don’t want to go to a diesel but the Tiguan is looking more tempting as the problem persists! It’s a Motability vehicle and I don’t really want another “early termination of the lease” especially as it’s not my fault.

  12. I have fitted these and had no problems re scratching.

A friend of mine lost the clips when he was moving his deflectors from one Yeti to another, so he used 3m double sided tape and found it worked very well.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone with the jerkiness issue is contacted by their dealers for the software update this Spring?  Hope this info I've posted is of use.   Best wishes to you all.

    Hi

my 1.5 DSG has exactly the same problems. The jerkiness, I can just about live with for now, but the loss of throttle response can be very dangerous in certain circumstances.

I have to say your dealer is being exceptionally helpful.... my supplying dealer plugged it in and said “no fault found” and handed me my keys back. The second dealer said they done the same but had received an email saying updates were due in Quarter 2 which should resolve the problems. I hope I don’t get “T-Boned” at a junction before the updates.

I love the car but have been looking at possible replacements but can’t find anything without reverting to diesel which I’m allergic to!  I might be allergic to “Pig P” (sorry Ad-Blue!) which you have to add on modern diesels nowadays.

  14. Ok I appreciate many seem to have the bunny hop problem but on my 1.5 DSG I don’t have this..... the main problem with mine is as follows....

Sometimes when I start up first thing in then morning, I put my foot firmly on the brake, press the start button and it fires up straight away. Keep my foot on the brake and shift to Drive. Then when I release the foot brake and press the accelerator pedal, nothing happens at all - it goes to the floor. This can happen twice then I set off fine. It has on three occasions reoccurred if I stop  at a junction within about half a mile.

As I said before it may be related to the bunny hop problem but seems to be a different issue entirely.

Great to see my DSG gearbox performs much better than that Audi that he is driving. I think his issue is engine related again but it does indicate that there are known issues.

I’m on my third VAG group DSG vehicle with the DSG Box (Tiguan, Yeti & Karoq) and never had any problems at all with it.

I agree it must be engine related... possibly the micro switch, if there is one, not telling the ecu the brake pedal has been released and allowing the throttle to activate.

You can tell I’m not technical by my comment.
