  1. I’ve done the fronts on mine twice. It’s one of the easiest jobs on a car I’ve ever done. Used Brembo parts. Cost me about £70 in total. I’ve never done the rears. Did you just use a standard caliper rewind tool???
  2. No. It was almost at the top of the cross hatching. I was told they like oil at the top so that’s why they advised 75%. I just let it go as he knew I wouldn’t buy any oil as there was half a gallon in the boot. PS can I PM you about something? I have a tool that measures water content in the brake fluid. So that gets checked once a week.
  3. I’ve changed mine twice myself. As you say £15 per plug for the 1.5 TSI and it took half an hour. Never, ever changed the brake fluid, even on my of 250k mile 1.6 TDI. Or coolant.
  4. Some of the things listed in a major service and extended scope service I always had done at every service.
  5. Excellent knowledge but how is the average owner supposed to know all that ? Anyway last time I checked before it went in it was up at the top. I’ve always been told it has to be somewhere on the cross hatch and it’s fine. Last time I topped it up from near bottom of the crosshatch when warm it only took about 200mls to hit the top. Now I’m beginning to think I’ve ruined this engine as it’s a bit noisy under load and at idle. Not terrible but noisier than it should be.
  6. I’ve always checked at operating temp on the flat. Occasionally be topped up a small amount. I checked not long before it went in today. It took a small amount to bring it up to around 3/4 of the cross hatched area. I checked this 3 times. To be only holding 75% of oil would mean it needs at least a litre which is complete nonsense. Strangely enough a litre is what they’re asking me to pay at £15.99 for.
  7. My car is currently in the dealers for work and they’ve sent me a health check email. It states the oil is 75% filled and needs filled urgently. I check the oil on my car nearly every day and have never let it go much under the top of the lattice on the dipstick. I keep oil in the boot in case it needs topped up on occasion. the low oil pressure light has never came on on any car I’ve owned. It’s too late to call them tonight so what are they on about???
  8. Engine: 1.5 TSI ACT (2020) Type: SE Technology Mileage: 110k miles Cambelt getting done next week - £900!!!! 6 speed Manual Any other major work done? Turbo replaced at 68k, rear wiper motor repaired by me, wiper blades, 11x services, numerous tyres, brake pads changed 2x discs once Still on original clutch engine is a bit rattly despite 8k oil changes
  9. I’ve got the 1.5 TSI and mines vibrates at idle. Its always had a bit of a noisy rough idle since I bought it at 9k miles. My mechanic says it’s due to emission control and the direct injection. I’d try another one to compare though.
  10. Spark plugs are an additional item so I think they expect you to book it in yourself. As for servicing with Henry’s North I got my car from them but did all the services myself at a fraction of the cost.
  11. I’ve ordered a puller tool from screwfix. I’ll collect it tomorrow.
  12. I need to remove my rear wiper so I can operate on the motor but it just won’t come off. Any tips to remove it?
  13. Exactly. Hence why I have just bitten the bullet and went to the dealer. Peace of mind with the warranty. There was a couple of other places offering it for between £650 and £850 and I was tempted but at least with Skoda there will be comeback and capacity to repair any damage and they will use the correct OEM parts. I will also be making sure the complete kit is fitted including all tensioners.
  14. That's my 2020 1.5 TSI booked in for the timing belt replacement. £920 at Henry's Skoda Glasgow if anyone is wondering about the cost. Car is on 109k but it's a taxi so I'm not waiting until 140k even though the service bloke said they've never heard of any snapping prematurely.
