  1. Offside slave cylinder leaks. Just have to check how to remove the brake shoes and springs.
  2. I have the same problem. I removed the ashtray covering the handbrake adjustors and one was alot looser than the other as per pic. Is this the cam on the shoe sticking?
  3. I have noticed when I open the drivers door that water drips quickly out of the drain holes on the underside of the door. So there is a build up of water within the door which vents on opening the door. That is what they are designed for, but other doors don't have the same quantity of water dripping out when I open those doors, only a few drips. So is it the window seal at the base of the window leaking? Or are there checks I can do to identify the source?
  4. trying to fit this to my car but I cannot find info how to connect the Parrott loom to the car power supply. One post says to swap the red and orange over and mentions the fuses. but nothing specific for the power. I have the Fabia 2 to Parrott specific adaption loom. Any suggestions please.
  5. Car failed MOT, headlights not secure. Some previous damage to each wing five years ago, but MOT in the usual garage passed them... They are wobbly so the MOT is correct. I think one plastic securing bracket has broken on each headlight as the lenses are ok. Yet to remove them to check. Are those with motors for adjustment, don't think mine has a motor? I looked on ebay but they are hard to find the exact OEM ones. O/S part number I have been given is 5J2941018D.
  6. Pete in Stroud very kindly carried out a diagnostic and there were a lot of faults most of which I am aware. The turbo one was 17964/P1556 Charge pressure control : negative deviation. Searching suggested vacuum tubes. so I looked under the bonnet and found a lose tube which should go to the engine, then end of it was split for an inch. So i replaced it with a spare length of blue silicon tubing and the problem is solved, The car accelerates up hills now. Other faults are: 0532 and 01221: drivers side air bag, which relates to chaffed cable in the door hinge bellows, these were taped up but the bellows were not replaced properly so there is moisture on the cables. Central locking: 01330, 01331, 01332, 01333, 00930, and 01334. Not looked at this, but I lock it on the key in the door as the switch on the fob to close it, keeps repeating so the battery is now flat in the fob. The engine under tray is missing removed by mechanic somewhere and not replaced, that allowed water into the passenger side floor which in turn may have affected the central locking module under the passenger seat? I had not used the car for about 2 months so moisture may have built up in the cabin?
  7. Danny,

You are on the map of the VCDS owners or users.

I need a diagnostic for my Octavia 2003 1.9TDi as the the engine is in limp mode.

    Can you help.

I am over the old crossing near Thornbury, GL128UG.

    Thanks

    Jack

      Hi Jack,

I sold my Superb over a year ago as I had a serious motor bike accident and although I still have the VCDS I am shielding due to my medication. I don’t know if you want to buy the VCDS, sorry that sounds pushy.
I might ring Grendons in Swansea to see if it is feasible, they have always been very helpful in the.

Sorry that is not very helpful.

      kind regards

      Bob

  8. Thanks for the advice. It has been in limp mode for some time, so I'll have to get a good diagnostic on it Local garage has been good, but not sure how definitive the diagnostics are?
  9. Engine in limp mode. A/C compressor burnt out a year or so ago. replaced some 7 years ago. The wiring loom to the compressor was also damaged. The compressor spindle does not turn and so I was driving the car without air con. If I turned the air con on the auxiliary belt would smoke and smell of burnt rubber emanated. Now the engine runs but about five seconds after ignition the air con compressor is switched on regardless of the climatronic settings. So looking to scrap it. Mechanically and bodywork is good that apart. Any suggestion welcome? EG Sell or scrap or break? I am in the sticks 3 miles to the nearest town.
  10. Fabia 2 1.6 diesel. 5 bolt pressed steel black rim. Encountered a kerb this morning , too bent for a tyre place to repair. Breakers around Bristol? Have Volksmania closed? Any one got one?
  11. Since last December the engine has been in constant limp mode, cannot find the cause, turbo replaced in 2015. Last Monday (a week ago), drove up a hill slightly strange noises from engine then smoke from under bonnet with a strong burnt rubber smell. Though it was the auxiliary belt and one of the components it drives as the smoke was in that area, but the garage could find no problem. This afternoon, driving on flat road at 45MPH and the engine died, battery light on. Pulled over and it restarted. There is the three beeps comes on infrequently, which can be a number of things I think? Checked the battery with the engine off: 13.1V Ignition on: 12.7V. Engine running: 14V any obvious faults folks? Or is it electrical diagnostics?
  12. Foot well wet on LHS of passenger side and a water drip from underside of the engine at the gearbox end. Seems to occur in dry weather and so not puddle or rain related. Not noticed any coolant loss though. Does the drip suggest the heating matrix? I have searched for footwell water and it seems to be the grommet at the rear of the pollen filter can leak.
  13. The climatronic stopped working and after mobile mechanic screwed things up, I took the car to WestLec in Patchway who solved the problem which was a connector under the battery housing which had water in it as per pic. This FYI for anyone else who has this problem, as my car has been repaired.
  14. I fitted a clip to the drivers side linkage a week ago now the square arm has come off the ball joint, the clip is still in place. should they last a while or is it temporary? I fitted the clip to the ball joint then bent the clip while I pushed the arm on. The black rubber washer had fallen off already and lost.
  15. Not used the car much this year 4k miles, due a main service. 186k miles Jan 2019: Inspection service, mileage: 182k. Jan 2018 main service: mileage: 174K. Passed the MOT with no advisories on Saturday. So does it require a main service now? Annually suggests it does.
  16. I am joining the club of broken looms, three wires broken and another has the insulation cut so the copper wire can be seen. It was not clear to see the broken wires until I removed the large connector. From other posts I read that it is advisable to drill out the three speaker rivets with a 6mm drill, if you do that how do you repair the speaker mounting, buy a pop rivet gun?
  17. Thanks, it is not the switch. Took the door card off. Water on the door lock mechanism and its connection block. WD40 made no difference. Contact pins are ok, not corroded. The central locking locks the door after 30 seconds. So the water on the door lock mechanism has caused the problem, which requires replacing or stripping and drying out?
  18. Car as per signature. 180k Faults: rad fans on constantly, rad control module replaced two months ago. Fuel and temp gauges do not work but receive power, auto electrician suggested getting a replacement dial assembly from scrappers (£40) but have to reprogramme it (£90) When he visited he smelt burning whilst diagnosing...? A fuse was in the wrong place according to him. He blocked my number so I need a diagnostic elsewhere: £60. I have read that dry joints in the instrument console can cause faults. Mechanical ok, mot until Jan. Body is good. two tyres will need replacing in 3 months. Any advice welcome.
  19. Thanks for your help. I took the door card off, and the wiring seems undamaged. Phoned an auto electrician and described the problem, he said window switch. £30 from main dealers.
  20. Thanks for the advice. The mirrors are manual. There is nothing from the rear wiper so I'll check connections.
  21. 2011 Fabia estate, diesel. two front windows are electric, rear windows are not. drivers console for two front. Drivers console does not open or close either front window. passenger button operates passenger window. Unlocking the car by key and holding the key in the lock does not open or close the windows. Guessing at console switch or connection to the switch? Is that right or barking? Is WD40 worth trying after stripping? Rear wiper does not work either. Is it the same as the Octavia inasmuch as the washer feeds through the gear box and causes it to seize?
  22. Where is this on the engine. I think the connection has come off.
  23. Thanks will pursue options. I'll phone the local diagnostic VeeW in Bristol, see what they charge.
  24. One key has the red led light flashing on all the time. I think the switch which activates either open or close button on the PCB needs replacing. What are the options for repair or replacement?
