Don't be too hard on dealers. Mine has been very good. Modern cars are complex and generally very well put together - a jigsaw puzzle of parts that fit each other. But occasionally not quite. It is the manufacturers (like VAG) who are not very good at integrating intelligent owner feedback and solutions into the Tech Bulletin processes. They could learn from software companies who rely on users to track down bugs. When I look at Skoda, VW and Audi the value for money lies in Skoda. If you are interested in cars rather than badges then Skoda delivers massively.

Some Superbs do require sunroof frame replacement as well as unhinging of the rear edge of the roof liner. Mine did and Essendon Skoda did a great job. It got rid of the clunks but unhinging of the rear edge of the roof liner will get rid of the flex stresses which cause the creaks.

Re Unhinging the rear edge of the roof liner from the sunroof frame. Feel for the lip at the top of the liner and give a quick jerk. It just separates it from the frame but that is all. The liner is quite rigid so it does not drop.

Hi Andrew. Essendon Skoda. They have been good.

Hi. I live in Australia and have a 2017 Superb Sportline. Initially it had clunks from the sunroof on body flex as well as a range of creaks and clicks mostly associated with flex but also evident with potholes in the road. No conventional lubrication solutions had any benefit. The dealer conceded there was a problem and identified it as the sunroof frame and ordered a new one - 5 weeks to deliver from Europe. Dealer installed over 5 days during which they gave me a Fabia as a loaner. Sunroof removed and replaced including original sunroof surround glass being cut out and replaced. On return the clunks had gone but creaks and groans and clicks from overhead remained. As well the new sunroof blind fabric started to concertina when opened, as had the original sunroof screen. I experimented a bit with no benefit. Then I decided to unhinge the rear edge of the roof lining from the rear edge of the sunroof. Just pull it forward. I remains rigid but no longer presses on the screen blind during opening. Sunblind no longer concertinas but more importantly -all noises gone. No creaks or groans or clicks. No noises on body flex. No issues at all. Hope this helps some people. BW Al C
