  1. Hey Silver I'm going to take Wardy up on his very kind offer to help fix it. I'll let you know the result
  2. Hey chaps Ok, on a closer inspection of this, perhaps and I do say 'perhaps' it could be a bag or something of that description however, I always park far away and did in this instance. This does not mean to say that someone did infact park adjacent whilst I was away from the car to then leave prior to me returning. It's done now and I'm a bit calmer shall we say. Due to how upset and angry I felt at the time, like most in fairness, all rationality was lost and I immediately assumed it had been done in. I love my car to bits and I'm not ashamed to admit it. But, this is one of the pitfalls of owning a motor and can happen anywhere I spose. Wardy, I live in a town called Knutsford. Unsure how far/close that is in relation to you.
  3. ^^ By the way please don't take the pictures as final. The car is obviously dusty and in need of some TLC but I guarantee with it being clean, that mark will stick out like a sore thumb :(
  4. Evening all Well where exactly do I start? Came out to my motor a few days ago after being parked up to nip to the shops and found what can only be described as a deliberate scratch across the passenger left side door panel. To say I was ****** off is an understatement. I really just don't get it. I could understand if I parked like a loon or did something to draw unwanted attention and let's all be honest now, unless your asking for trouble by going to the shops in a Lamborghini, who would want to scratch a VRS? It's garaged safely of a night so I can't think of anywhere else this has been done and it isn't like I have enemies or a following, if you get my drift. Clearly, because the car is modified and lets just say, looks the part, I think someone has decided to take their frustrations out on it. There's no way this is accidental. Incidentally, no CCTV in area so that's out of the window and even if there was, doubt it would go anywhere. Also, nobody around at the time to ask and wasn't exactly in the mood to go foot stomping or look for anyone either. Makes me really paranoid now about leaving it and I feel even more security conscious now about where I park up. You'd think in today's world, people would at the very least, respect other peoples property including cars. Clearly not.
  5. ^^ Agree. Don't bother unless you want your car to sound like a bees nest residing under the bonnet. Spend the cash elsewhere. It's been often said on here that the standard paper filter has just as good properties as a performance filter. Up to you mate but I have a TDI and haven't put a K&N in and never will.
  6. Hey all. Just thought I'd add to this. Alarm siren has turned up but no time to do it yet as friend is really busy with work and I don't have the gear! Really happy to hear of everyone's success stories and hopefully, I'll be able to add mine. I will let you all know how I get on after fitment.
  7. I just want to take this opportunity to say thanks to Rustynuts for supplying and fitting me a Columbus nav unit. We'd been in communication some time and all was set in place to 'kill 2 birds with one stone' as they say and pick it up after having my windows tinted. The trip out there was one of the most enjoyable drives in a long time and the weather was cracking. I have to say, upon meeting him, he is a proper gent. Couldn't be more accommodating and it wasn't long before the kettle was on. He even took the time and went as far to diagnose my alarm problem and run a full scan. It's individuals like this that make me proud to be a Briskodian. Thanks mate for everything and giving me your time and expertise. Btw, getting my head around the new unit now and myself and the folks are loving it! Top marks
  8. Tell me about it!! The cheeky ********. That's why it's probably in such an awkward place and riveted. Ok, it's not impossible (as you've clearly proven) but I can see why people go the stealers. I will get it ordered asap I've been busy but I will deffo do it tonight. I just need to tempt my mate to jack her up and assist us as I don't have one. Beers cost less than a new jack
  9. Nice one for this very informative post. I'm proper chuffed your alarm is now fixed. Bet your really pleased. How long may I ask did it take your siren to turn up? Still waiting on mine.
  10. Can I just confirm so that I don't get egg on my face and to make sure before I hit the 'checkout' button. The alarm siren/horn AND batteries are one in the same entity yes? I get the impression it's either or. The scan that said member did for me definitely flagged up an error with the alarm siren so I'm assuming a replacement siren will do the trick and put the system right.
  11. Janea, I totally understand your concerns and frustration with this. I too, like meaty101 (thanks for the info matey) am having issues. A very kind and knowledgeable member on here did a VCDS scan and advised me the alarm siren may be duff. Car is 6 years old so if it is that, it has just reached it's expected 'shelf life'. Pretty annoyed as some members here commented on getting 7, 8 or even 9+ years. I do hope that it is the siren and not something more sinister. Btw, you spoke of your alarm randomly going off, we had similar when my dearly beloveds (the parents) went away and was on a camping site!! Very worrying getting a call asking "how to reset the alarm as it won't stop". That was pretty stressful. I absolutely love my motor and the thought of it's safety/security being compromised is not good. I honestly hope you get it sorted but please, please don't pay over the odds to get it fixed. Is there not a friend or someone in the family who is a dab hand with cars who can help? That would save you some dosh. I'm going to enquire with a friend of mine and he can jack the car up for me so we can remove the wheel. No way I'm paying Skoda or any dealer silly money to do it. I'll look at ordering a new siren in and going from there. I will follow this with interest. Let's all keep each other posted on how we get on. Our cars need to be safe!
  12. That's a gorgeous MK3 Andy. My old man wants one of these I think. Is it 220BHp? Cheers for the link Vegasphil. Nice build thread I can see you have more extras than me (only a touch jealous ha ha). I don't plan on going anywhere near the fronts. Thanks again for the pics gents.
  13. Hey all I've finally gotten round to sorting my windows getting tinted this weekend (by AK tints for the curious minded). This was my number one 'to do mod' and I've owned the car over 2 years now. What have I been doing?! Really looking forward to it and hoping it goes well. Fed up of seeing cars that are tinted so it was time to bite the bullet. I've a race blue MKII and my main question is, what preference of tint did you choose? Personally, I'm thinking maybe 20% as it's not too light IMHO. Deffo don't want limo black although I'm sure on some colour schemes, it perhaps suits. Is anyone willing to post any pics of theirs? It would be nice to see some comparisons and also, some fellow race blue enthusiasts VRS's Cheers
  14. I'm interested in a touch up pen or similar for my race blue Octavia. Think the paint code is in my main book along with engine code. Theres a nasty and I mean nasty chip on the RHS above the front light cluster. Been told time and again by specialists ect it'd be pointless charging me to do it but always been aprehensive in case I buggered it up.
  15. Who plays Mortal Kombat X on PS4 me wonders.....

  16. Yet more people putting on here that their CR170 feels 'underpowered', 'sluggish', 'slow' etc, etc. This is EXACTLY why I'm keeping my stage 1 map on it and not letting the dealer go anywhere near it. Glad I made the decision. Why on earth would you bother?!?
  17. Ideally yes, I would rather keep the parrot kit as it's a nice addition and would be as shame to get rid in all honesty. It's actually rather good. Ok, that being said, where do I shop for such a head unit? Do I use a certain auction site and try grab myself a bargain or is there a direct place I can shop? What would I be expected to pay? I'm assuming I have to be careful to ensure it's a legit one with the correct Part No? Which is the better of the two. The Amundsen + or the Columbus? I'm really Sorry lots of questions I know but I'm as green as the grass when it comes to stuff like this and I don't want to get it wrong.
  18. It seems that the columbus is the way to go when upgrading from a bolero however, my Mk II VRS came with a Parrot CK100 bluetooth kit already installed. I don't know what options I have with an already installed kit that allows me to make phone calls. I'd like an inbuilt sat nav as that would be a nice addition but would I have to do away with the parrot kit entirely? I know about having to get a new facia but don't have a clue when it comes to coding ect or what extra bits I'd need, if any. I'm assuming it would be a direct plug n play swap? What options do I have in keeping with the bluetooth kit or getting rid of it? Doing a search just bombards you with all sorts of different projects and tbh, find it a little intimidating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  19. Recommend me a Window Tinter in the North West please :)

  20. Thanks for the replies Nathanio & MillsyVRS. Well, that being said I will seriously look into a set of AS3's when the time comes. Sorry to ask again but wasn't answered prior. Did either of you at any point swap the fronts for the rears or just keep them as is until they were due replacement?
  21. Hey all Can anyone recommend me a really decent tinting company around the Cheshire area. I am going to get the rears done on my VRS but as I'm sure you all appreciate, it's a bit of a mine field. I called a company near Trafford Park, out of curiosity if anything but the guy I spoke with was a bit.......pushy. Basically, questioning why I rang up if 'you don't want to book the car in'. Was a bit of an awkward conversation tbh. So yeah, could do with some pointers. I'm after a top job obviously and warranty so anyones experiences are welcome. What did you pay? Also, what's peoples thoughts on the best level of tint? I'm unsure as to what would look good so any pics would be greatly appreciated especially those with a race Blue VRS. Thanks.
  22. Thanks for the feedback mate. Do you think I should get the AS3's when these are due replacement? Only downside I hear is a next to no rim protector though.
  23. Where do I get my windows tinted? *ponders*

  24. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Ok, in that case I will avoid fitting them. I definetly don't want to get pulled and thus far, haven't. I wish to keep it that way. I could go the 'gel resin' type plates route as I reckon they would look nice with a border but again, not sure of the legalities.
  25. Hey all If anything, I'm just after a bit of a comparison as I want to see if it's similar to anyone else. Ok, so got the AS2's fitted April 2015 with approx 59K on the clock and have found them to be superb runners. Fast forward to Dec 2016 when my Octy VRS had it's recent MOT where the tyres were recorded with 4mm fronts and 6mm rears. Currently done 72kish miles. Would you say for the time the tyres have been on and the mileage over a 21 month period is a fair wear rate? If you can remember, what did you get out of them before they needed changing and did you have the rears put on the front during it's life cycle? Also, did you stick with the AS2's or move on? Cheers.
