    I've watched a Youtube video of someone updating the firmware on their Amundsen-Bolero, and they said that they had to do the following after the update process had finished;

"Version back documentation" screen appears (final step), this is the moment to connect your VCDS cable

    12) Go to module 5F, Adaptations, and select channel "Confirmation of installation change"

    13) Check your current "Stored value" and write it down

    14) Start Windows Calculator and set it to "Programming" mode (Alt+3)

    15) Calculate the following: abcd Xor C9D2 (abcd is your "Stored value", C9D2 is fix). Double check it. :)

    16) Enter your new value (in "xx xx" format, using a space character) and click "Do It!" (you may get an "Unknown (0x00)" error, no problem)

    17) Your headunit should restart automatically in a few secs.

    18) Once your HU works again, turn ignition OFF.

    19) Ignition ON again and start VCDS again

    20) Start an Autoscan and check for fault codes on different modules (09, 17, 19, 5F, ...) and clear them

    21) You are done

Is the above the same case with the Columbis mib1 does anyone know? Also, how long does the firmware update take (roughly speaking)?

    Hey all,

I have tried to do this but when i look at the original value, it's completely blank.  Now i'm stuck, has anyone else had the same issue?

    Thanks

  2. My mk1 vRS WRC, mk2 vRS and mk2 FL vRS have all had Cold Air induction kits on them and none of them have sounded throaty (air sucked directly into turbo so you dont get as much engine noise) like my previous NA cars however what you you do get is more Turbo noise and and audible woosh as the recirc valve recirculates the air.  Not as loud as a Dump Valve but still noticeable.

All 3 have actually sounded like Daerth Vader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! which i actually love but defo not throaty.

  3. What are you looking for? as they are recirculating valves!  are you actually looking to get the blow of sound/TSSSHHHHHHH.

If so you will need the blow off spacer which is relatively cheap from Forge and it bolts to the OEM valve think they are about 40-50 quid.  If your not looking for the sound and just want to replace a broken/faulty OEM valve then get an OEM one, just the latest revision!

Other members might know of different makes.  I had the Forge Valve and spacer on my previous TFSI and loved the sound as i'm a child like that however its not to everyones taste lol

  4. I loved it on my TFSI, I just havent got round to fitting it to my TSI.  It's a real marmite mod you either love it or hate it.

If you get excited by that specific noise as a car goes past and have to look to see what it is then you'll probably love it however, if you hear that noise in the street and think "****" then its probably not for you lol.

I had a Forge on my WRC that you could hear through the Carbonio intake and it was mega loud and had old granny's duckin for cover then i had the spacer on my Pre-FL and i have to say i love the sound.  If that makes me a "****" then so be it, life is short and it makes me happy lol

  5. Ben,

I can't seem to find the downloadable software on your new website.  I now have a FL vRS so need the most recent software as it currently doesn't show my engine etc.

Also is the software Mac compatible?

    Thanks in advance.

    Ross

  6. MOT Mannie,

Make sure those current theiving scumbags in Aberdeen don't fekin nick it lol, i still have love for 68 :-), they seem to be nicking performance cars, told my Dad he needs to be carefull with his White FL vRS. A Friend in Northfield told me a White Octavia had been nicked, so i'm glad to see your pics on here.

  7. Heres an official blah

Daytime running lights (sometimes referred to as DRLs or daylight running lamps) are low-wattage bulbs that are fitted to a car to improve visibility during daylight hours. As of 7th February 2011* DRLs have become a mandatory fitting to all new type approved passenger vehicles (except trailers).

DRLs must switch on with the vehicle ignition and switch off when the vehicle sidelights are switched on. They can also be made to function as front position (side) lights, which operate at a reduced intensity when the vehicle sidelights are switched on.

  8. That's quite interesting as I have seen many a motor with normal lights on and as far as I can see full brightness DLRs but they are other lesser car manufacturers lol I will have have to have a proper look next time I'm out.

This was a question I was going to ask when I get my FL next year, I just think it looks rubbish when the are dimmed, and I wouldn't say they are remotely startling or blinding on full, xenons are a lot brighter IMO but I've been know to be wrong lol, oh well

  9. After a bad experience with a VW dealer and a manufacturing fault with a camshaft on my previous MKII vRS, the VW garage replaced the car with a money equivelant (a Ford Mundane'oh).

Thankfully It looks like i'll be getting my Dad's FL vRS next year and i can get rid of the diesel Mondy.

Do any of you know what bits can be put on the FL TSI from the TFSI?? as i have a few things in my shed that i only had on my old car for about 2000 miles.

    I have:

Milltek D/P with Sport cat and cat back non resonated tail section

    Weitec Ultra GT Suspension kit

    BSH True Seal Intake

Forge Valve and blow off spacer

    Neuspeed Hi-Flow Intercooler Pipe Coversion

    PCV Revamp Kit

Shark Performance STS (Stage 1,2 and 3 maps on my pc)

Also does anyone know the percentage of owners that have had the camchain tensioner issues on the TSI as this worries me a bit after my last vRS blowing up!!!!!!!!!

maybe i should get a MKI again as i never had any issues with the WRC

    Thanks in advance

  10. Long story short, I bought the car from my Dad, added all my mods, got VW to do a cambelt etc etc then VW blew my car up after i had owned it for only 2 weeks. I now have a number of modding parts available most having only done 3-4000 miles whilst VW were trying to rectify what they had done.

Wietec Ultra GT suspension kit (fixed rate shox and springs, for those who dont want to go as extreme as coilovers. I was very impressed with these) £330.00

Milltek non resonated turbo back and sport cat full system (I bought it with 1 of the front hangers missing, this doesn't effect the hanging of the exhaust. Ben from Shark Performance will vouch for that as it was his from his old black demo vRS AWESOME SOUND!!!!!!!!) £510.00

BSH True Seal Intake with heat sheild (could do with a new filter) £120.00

    Neuspeed Turbo Intake Pipe £75.00

    BSH PCV Revamp kit £25.00

Forge Valve and new servicing kit including an uprated yellow spring £70.00

    Forge Blow off spacer £30.00

Poly bush lower engine mount bush (never fitted) £7.00

Shark STS unit ( I also have a couple of maps but dont know if they are able to be sold and used on other cars) £100.00

Postage!! If you want to buy it then I will get a price calculated for you.

If you are interested then send me a pm with your email and i will forward pictures on to you :-) most things i will be able to send by post easily, the suspension and exhaust are obviously heavy so might take a bit more effort. I have PAYPAL

If no one wants them the they will be going on Fleabay lol.
