I believe the air con goes into recirculate mode when reverse is selected to avoid exhaust fumes being drawn into cabin. 
Does selecting recirculating mode produce same noise, if so could just be sticking air distribution flap.

Not sure what battery it has as it's been sat at dealership for a week... untouched.. 

 

Not much good after the event, but if you had phoned Skoda Assist they would have fixed it , replaced the battery, or taken the car to dealer and provided a loan car. 
Do you have a dash cam or anything plugged into the 12V power sockets, as these are permanently live and well documented for draining battery if something inadvertently left plugged in.

The ECO score is utter nonsense, my previous 2.0 tsi Kodiaq would give me 100% despite only achieving 24mpg.

This is really disappointing. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. 

The sat nav software can only be updated with new roads if the local council/ ordinance survey etc make the information available to the sat nav mapping companies.
