  1. I was overtaking a car on a dual carriageway that was closing to one lane when suddenly the other driver decided to speed up to box me out. So I was foot to floor in normal mode and 6th gear in my manual gear Octavia VRS 3.5 - an image/drawing of a gear stick appeared in the Multifunction display. I didn't get to read it before it disappeared. What was it as I can't find it in the manual?
  2. I'm late to the thread so sorry for asking for clarification - but just so I fully understand, as I am eye balling a great deal on a brand new Superb Sportline, are all MK4 models effected by the software/sensor issues? And is the official final fix from Skoda still outstanding? Does this software/sensor issue also exist in the new Octavia? What I've read here so far has me thinking I should swerve today's new Skoda's and switch out my Octavia VRS MK3.5 for another brand (BMW, Volvo)
  3. I've passed on the GTI due to tyre profiles and I'm not personally a fan of the piano black bordered dash with touch buttons. The L&K Superb with the 280 4x4 is very appealing - a grown up man's car with power! How the V70 holding up? Pleased with Volvo build quality?
  4. I'm totally stuck on what to move to next - what have others moved onto from the MK3 VRS? I do enjoy other's opinions to bring thoughts on vehicles I might not have considered. I've held onto my MK3 VRS245 for too long and now facing repair and maintenence costs (had to replace the water pump last year) along with the usual degradation like the diamond cut alloys lacquer failing, rear window allowing water and mold ingress under the none sealed edges, black paint stone chipped to hell, interior plastic rattles etc. I think I'm also ready to give up on manual gears when sitting in slow moving commuter traffic. Its been a great car to drive but I tire of the stiff suspension and thin tyres when driving the UKs potholed riddled roads. I've been a little spoilt with the 245bhp + all of the gadgets for the price paid. I'd like something a little more luxury = comfortable, but still has power. Today's used cars are still so damn expensive but I've got a 40k budget with a must have list of wants: Petrol or mild hybrid only At least 180bhp 45+ sidewall on tyres Electric, heated seats Digital Speedo Automatic Saloon or SUV 2023 or newer Comfortable High quality interior fit & finish I've considered: • BMW 3 & 1 Series - higher spec models have low profile tyres only. • Honda Civic - not keen on fast back style. • Audi A4, A6 - higher spec models have low profile tyres. • Volvo XC40 • Volvo XC60 - higher spec models break the 40k budget. Audi A6 Saloon Black Edition seems like it might be the best contender for it's size, style, power, gadgets, you can get a spare wheel that fits in the boot! Just not sure if paying the AUDI tax is worth it over Skoda + I live in the South East of England so prices for the cars and service are high. 🤷‍♂️
  5. Thanks. Shouldn't have messed with hex screw then Will removing this grille give me access to the fog connector or do I really need to go through the engine cover underneath?
  6. So the whole unit would have to be replaced if "leds are playing up? Annoyingly the issue is intermittent. Of I switch on fogs the car pings them as an issue but they are working. I just banged the fog light with my hand and the light went out and didn't come back - which makes me think it's a bad connector. But then I went out for a drive and fog lights are working are car is not flagging them?
  7. How the hell do I get at the fog light on the face lift VRS 245? Tha manual shows varient 1 and 2 but not the VRS? My dash keeps telling me there's an issue with fog bulbs but they are working so I want to clean the connector and check the bulbs. There is a hex screw through a hole in one of the honeycomb layers beneath the light but if I try and turn it nothing happens? I see there is a curled key tool for removing on other models but with no guidance for the face lift VRS I'm scratching my head?
  8. I'm reaching out for help again with regards to removing the roof console in my Octavia MK3 FL VRS. I have a creaking and cracking noise coming from what I think is my roof console. Possibly the plastic fascias are moving and rubbing against each other causing this noise is my theory as there is some play when console is pressed. Skoda had my car for two days and did nothing so warranty be damned, I'm going to have to fix myself. I've seen videos on how to remove fascia around roof lights (green arrow) but I also want to remove the next section with vents/sensors (red arrow). For me it's the sort of cover that feels if you pull it wrong it will snap. Possibly also the unit with the lights in it also. Can anyone please point me to a guide or offer advice? The hope is I can remove parts and then pad or foam insert around the plastic to stop the parts frictioning against each other.
