  1. Hi All, I joined Briskoda back in 2015 but let my membership lapse and hardly ever dropped back in as life and serious illness took over. Anyway this week I happened to notice that my Roomster wasn’t locking the drivers door, no idea how long that’s been happening as the last two years it has hardly moved. Anyway I found a fix on here for the door wiring loom and sure enough exactly what it was so not a bad fix. So I figured that Briskoda had saved me a bob or two no idea how much so that paying a years subscription has to be worthwhile way of saying thank you. Fingers crossed the car doesn’t need anything doing for a while nor me for that matter. Jim
  2. I think vehicle manufacturers have missed a trick by not building a Roomster type of vehicle but looking at it from a business point of view the Roomster didn’t sell in enough quantities or at least in the UK. It could be argued that Skoda missed a trick by not marketing the Roomster, I don’t remember seeing adverts for it. I’m sure if the Roomster was publicised it would of been a huge success. Unfortunately manufacturers seem hell bent on building overly expensive hybrid or full electric vehicles to meet future restrictions. Im no fan of modern diesel engines with their DPFs and Adblu systems either, you really need to be running high miles to run one of those without DPF problems. our Roomster was meant to be my daily driver when we bought it and eventually replacing an aged Nissan Terrano that my wife drives but the Terrano is now 21 years old solid and passing MOTs. No plans on getting rid of the Roomster anytime soon, just fixed the door wiring loom which is the first fault in 5 1/2 years.
  3. Well it’s surprised me that people find the Roomster headlamps to be poor. Mine is a 2015 with projector headlamps and actually seem great, bulbs do seem to be lasting a long time but have got a pair of Osram Night Breaker Next Gen in the boot ready for when I have a bulb fail. Had the car from new so know the headlamps are standard. previously I’ve owned Nissan Terrano’s with round headlamps and they were so popped a pair of Night Breakers in which made some difference though still not as good as the Roomsters. I’ve also got a VW T6 and believe me those are shockingly poor, people on the forums refer to them as Ikea Tealights. As that is still in warranty I’m not changing those yet, several options with that including redesigned after market lamps with LED bulbs. So I guess basically what I’m trying to say is my experience of the Roomster headlamps is great. You do have to be careful with bulbs and replacements as they can be illegal but also dazzling to other road users.. Has anyone tried fitting extra lighting such as LED light bars, granted will only supplement high beam but probably advantageous for country lanes etc.
  4. Thanks for the reply, there was a break in the weather this afternoon so ended up as you say removing the door card again. All sorted out and it turned out to be the cable was disconnected.
  5. Hi All, does anyone know if there is any sort of Bluetooth module that integrates into the factory fit Swing Radio that is fitted into my 2015 Roomster. Seen a few on eBay that connect into the CD Multiplayer socket on the back of the radio. I’m not fussed about DAB and would rather stay stock as I want the reverse sensors to work. I’m guessing that the Media menu seems to have a blank section where the multiplayer could be selected, see the attached photo. Does anyone know the RNS model number. Thanks
  6. Turned out to be the wires broken on mine too, a bit fiddly to fix but after watching a YouTube video I had a good idea what to do. First real fault in 5 1/2 years of ownership, not bad really.
  7. Hi all, thanks to this awesome forum I’ve managed to repair my door loom as the drivers door had stopped locking. only problem is that the mirror switch no longer operates the mirrors and doesn’t even light up with the headlights on. I’m guessing the plug just isn’t seated correctly so rather than taking the door card off again does anyone know if it’s possible to remove the mirror switch as an easier way for me to check the wiring. thanks
  8. Can anyone tell me if the Swing Radio in a 2015 Roomster has any other names or numbers ie RNS200 thanks
  9. Yes as per my original guess I agree colour has a lot to do with it for sure, pity Silver was the only colour available when I bought mine. I also think it has a lot to do with modern attitudes of people as well, people are more stressed especially during the week. Inexperienced drivers out on a weekend that wouldn’t normally drive on the motorways too. A friend of mine calls the attitude problem the “me first” attitude. Did a 180 mile round trip today and definitely found people that had to get there before you and don’t care I’m having that gap. Never mind we made it unscaved and the Roomster did 54 mpg so all is well. 😃
  10. Funny that I had to drive around those country lanes week before last as we were staying near Chudleigh. Have to admit for the large majority drivers seemed fine down there and yes I too give a gesture of thanks to people.
  11. I’d love the 1.6 diesel, have the 1.2tsi which in fairness is ok. Good luck with your new car.
  12. So basically the glass panoramic roof is marmite, you either love it or hate it and it’s each to his own. my thoughts are. i hate sunroofs as to me it’s one more place the car can leak, in fairness probably as they grow older which of course many are now. Im glad it doesn’t open as this gives a better chance of being water proof. I personally am not a lover of the sun beating down on me especially when driving, keep the blinds closed is a solution. Ive had people in the car and they love the glass roof. I agree it tends to make the car into a greenhouse in my opinion but I’ll not argue that point. I have only got the glass roof because at the time there were no other choices but the glass. I got some foil bubble wrap and slotted it behind the sun blinds and this seems to of sorted the heat and made it a little darker which makes me comfortable but we are all individuals and this wouldn’t be for everyone. One thing that worries me is roof racks, I paid to have the rails fitted when we bought it. Shortly afterwards I saw a photo of a cracked roof which was blamed on the roof rack. It has put me off buying a set of roof bars so that I could fit my roof box. Has anyone else heard of this happening?
  13. Hi guys, sorry it’s a while since I’ve been on due to being ill (understatement but nuff said). It’s interesting how this thread developed. I like the idea of replacing sidelight bulbs but to be honest the thought of getting at the, fills me with dread. I have started driving around with headlights on and it does seem to ease the situation. As pointed there’s basically a lot of bad driving these days too.
  14. I have a totally standard Roomster 1.2tsi SE with the standard radio CD think it’s a Swing, I’m not interested in replacing with a different unit as it only makes it more attractive to thieves and it does just fine for the most part. Ive just changed phone and I no longer have 3.5mm socket for the Aux input. I was browsing Amazon and found this, could anyone with a little more knowledge take a look to see if it will be compatible with mine, it does mention Swing radio but it also says models pre 2010. Cheers https://www.amazon.co.uk/Handsfree-Bluetooth-Audio-Cruise-Stream/dp/B0773P8HM5/ref=sr_1_3?crid=CTIN2HCWYRR5&keywords=skoda+bluetooth&qid=1565963134&s=gateway&sprefix=Skoda+blue%2Caps%2C170&sr=8-3
  15. I bought mine new in March 2016 so one of the last on special offer a tad less than 10k, it’s on a 15 plate done 30k and it’s a 1.2tsi. It does exactly what it should, bags of space, hugely practical, looks better with the roof rails body moulding and wind deflectors. It’s starts on the button no problem, comfortable and basically does what a 4 1/2 year old car should. Have been disappointed with fuel economy apart from a trip down to devon a couple of weeks ago, 47mpg on way down and 57mpg on way back both times using Shell V-Power. Was it the fuel or the long trip probably a bit of both. struggled to find info regarding fitting a towbar, people say that you have to have reverse sensors disconnected but I don’t want to do that so never had one fitted. I have a 4x4 vehicle and I get into that and love driving it, get into the Roomster and drive, it just gets me from A to B. Seems to be missing an X factor that my other car has. Still like it and would highly recommend one to anyone.
