99 Octiwagen. 180k. New clutch 20k. Major service 155k. I did have issues with gear shifting a couple of years ago, and with a little guidance sorted it out. Thank you. I thought I had been a lax in changing up into 2nd, a bit of grinding but it went in and off I went. I discovered a short while later that I could not change down to second either. Today, neither 2nd nor 4th will engage, up or down. The push/pull adjustment makes no difference. Without the cable attached the gears will still not engage. Reverse, 1st, 3rd and 5th are fine but I do miss the others. I suspect bad news will follow.
