  1. Is anyone still using their GVN60? I'm having a problem with mine, now: when the interface loads up, the message appears "Memory is full". If I okay that, the device loads okay, and shows my current position on the map without any problem. If, however, I try to plan a route, another message appears: "Cannot calculate the route", and this has (once) been followed by "Route memory is full". I've tried removing the various histories, and even reset from the menu, but no change. Garmin support say they only cover the maps themselves, and Kenwood don't have an answer, other than that it may be a hardware issue. I've looked at the device but there doesn't seem to be a reset button. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  2. Oh God, I used to love that book! I remember my father bought it when it first came out (he was an AA member at the time), and I would spend ages poring over the fold-out maps looking for the wildlife symbols, and looking at the gorgeous illustrations and photos. Whenever I saw that book, I was instantly on holiday in my mind. I must see if we still have a copy somewhere, you've whetted my appetite!
  3. Turn your phone on its side! (I'm so sorry, I know that's mean of me, I just couldn't resist! Please forgive me!)
  4. The new 5.1 Beta version of Carista now enables battery registration for VAG vehicles.
  5. Just a couple of additions to AlastairHeff's excellent guide: if you have a Mac, you can also use the app "The Unarchiver" he mentioned to extract the GUPDATE.GCD file, no need for Windows! Also, you can find the most up-to-date map files (2020.30) here: https://www.navitotal.com/new-maps/city-navigator-europe-ntu-2020-fid-8360-t21582.html . Allegedly.
  6. I don't know if this has changed on more recent models, but certainly on my 2015 SE-L Estate the answer is "yes" on all three counts. The seat bases do fold forwards (with a slight step), and can be removed altogether. Having done that, the rear seat backs do fold flat (I find it helps to remove the headrests first). I should add, I do have the variable boot floor (for the dog!).
  7. I have an early (May 2015) Tsi 90 SEL Estate, and on that, you can rotate the rear seat squabs forward and then either leave them up against the back of the from seats or remove them altogether. Once that is done, you can then fold the rear seat backs flat, although depending how far back the front seats are, it is sometimes necessary to remove the rear headrests too. I'm in Bristol as well, so very happy if you want to arrange a side-by-side comparison (stop s******ing at the back, Pearson!).
  8. I had exactly the same issues as Alan, and I have no doubt that T13's explanation is correct. However, on checking, I found that my software was not up-to-date (I was on 2.80), and that there is an update to 2.90 available at https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=9254. Having installed that, the unit is now correctly recognising the time and date. Hope this is of help. Paul
  9. Please excuse me if I am hijacking this thread, and Admin please move to a new thread if you feel that is appropriate. I am a bit confused: my Fabia is also a 15-plate (SE-L Combi), but the Bolero unit appears to be older than the op's: it shows the part number as 5Q0035820, and software version as 0138. It was serviced by the local main dealer for the first three annual services, so I would have assumed (stupidly?) that they would have installed any software or firmware updates necessary. Having said which, would the previously-mentioned 0253 update be correct for my unit, or is there a different one, and would some kind person (wink, wink) be able to send it to me? Thanks in advance!
  10. He's 25 kilos. He also has a bony bum, so you feel all those kilos when he sits on your foot!
  11. Okay, here are the photos I promised. Hopefully they give a better idea of how much space there is for the dog. The false floor was ordered with the car as an optional extra: I think it may have been around the £75 mark? The rubber boot-liner was listed as only compatible with the hatchback, but in fact it fits the estate perfectly. As you can see, the false floor gives useful extra hidden storage space beneath it: it also gives a near-flat surface front-to-back if you remove the rear seat squab before folding the seat backs. Hope this helps! Paul
  12. Hi Andy. I have a Fabia III Estate. One of my main criteria was that the rear lip be low enough for my Irish Setter to jump in, as he is now advancing in years, and many cars are just that little bit too high. To avoid him jumping into a "well" I bought the optional false boot floor, which, as well as raising the floor to level with the lip, is very substantial and would certainly take the weight of a couple of dogs without a problem. As far as space is concerned, I wouldn't like to try putting a couple of Setters in there, but a brace of Greyhounds might be okay: I'll try to post a photo tomorrow to show the amount of space available. The dog guard I bought is an earlier version of the one shown here: http://arrows-uk.com/world-heavy-duty-mesh-headrest-guard-hatchback-estat-p-719.html?cPath=119_139_p2#slideshow. It does the job, and isn't too onerous to remove or reinstate when necessary. Paul
