  1. Just order the same colour, tell the missus you got a valet, if she’s like mine she couldn’t tell you the reg of her own car never mind mine
  2. The digital dash is great, I got a severe pain in my rear end with the lack of info, and jumped to an already built Cupra 4Drive where it’s standard, great to be able to change it around
  3. Economy is much better than I expected my 20km commute this afternoon returned 38mpg, now it was at a leisurely pace as I was on a conference call and needed to try and do things at once. I know it’s only the onboard reading but if it’s as accurate as the Octavia I’ll see only about 90 miles less to a fill and that was an oil burner
  4. Forget caution, simply apply the man maths formula and go for it, you won’t regret it!
  5. I had been looking at a lovely red ST without the 4wd or digital dash, it was a good bit cheaper, for otherwise very similar spec, but I’m a gadget freak and once I saw the digital dash I had to have it, and then there was the small matter, of the traction on the 4Drive
  6. Pity it’s missing the digital cockpit, anyone who has been in my car was instantly impressed with it
  7. Not bound by a company car, but once I couldn’t get a 245 I started looking at anything and everything with similar or greater performance. The only car you mentioned that I haven’t driven is the current Megane, drove the previous model and it was very harsh, no comfort, great as a weekend motor. Ive said previously if I could get a 245 I never would have looked at the neighbors wife, in the end I settled on the Cupra ST 4 Drive and couldn’t be happier, the non 4 Drive is great too, but the 4wd adds the ability to get it all down anytime you want, not a hint of wheel hop. This is my first DSG and it’s great, still have the paddles or manual shift if required or wanted. Like you I couldn’t get past the looks of the Type R, the Cupra is definitely a little smaller in the back, but it’s rare I have a 6 foot+ in the back, but it’s doable. test drive them all, I was genuinely blown away with the Leon, the interior is very driver focused and comfortable, the digital cockpit is a great gimmick too.
  8. Tiny I tell ya, rear legroom is also minuscule, test drove one twice, there was a low milage demo coming up for sale, but nowhere near as nice a car as the Octy or Cupra. I can see how it gets great reviews but none of those reviewers I bet would part with their own cash to buy one!
  9. Saw the announcement of the TCR, too many golf variants at this stage,
  10. Unfortunately they may come in to your house for a lot of cars, touch wood this one stays safe, it’s rarity might save it, much harder to keep a gti or R on the drive
  11. Thanks it was already in stock so had no choice on color, I wouldn’t have ordered silver, was leaning towards black, but delighted with silver, looks good in the sun when it’s clean.
  12. Thanks it does look pretty subtle, only those in the know will know what it is, currently on 3000kms, list price for the spec was nearly €49k, which is frankly mad, UK prices are much more sensible as well as your lower tax and insurance, the government here love to ride the motorist. Having only had it for a couple of days and spent quite a few hours behind the wheel, I’m yet to find where I could possibly need more bhp, I know there is always the possibility of more power and speed, but in overtaking it’s a monster, and given enough private road will go all the way to limit with no let up at all.
  13. Just thought i'd chip in here rather than start a new thread. I have been in the market for a new 245 and with the WLTP malarkey and not being able to order a new one and the complete lack of nearly new models here I decided on a change. I had never really considered the Cupra but a great deal popped up on a ST 300 4Drive last week and I have jumped at it and the vRS is gone. Trying to compare the performance between the 184 and the Cupra is apples and oranges so I wont even start, the difference between a mapped 245 would be a lot closer, but the 4WD and the ability to put all the power down whenever you want is ridiculous, even in not ideal conditions. I had the vRS for 3 years and loved it, and would be a proud 245 owner if I could have gotten one. On interior quality there are a few differences all minor, the interior quality on the Cupra is at least on a par with the Octy, the only minus is the lack of covering in the door bins, glovebox and the smaller not so jumbo box. The Alcantara door panels are lovely and definitely add a little to the interior feel. The 9.2" Columbus is a great screen but the higher up and more driver focused 8" in the Cupra is fantastic and I am more than happy with it. My Octy did not have DCC so cant compare, but the Cupra in comfort mode is quite refined and very comfortable to drive. I would definitely consider another vRS when time comes to change again, hopefully Skoda will see fit to at least be able to play with the likes of the Cupra and Golf R for performance, without having to jeopardise our warranty's. Ill still be hanging around as this is probably the best car forum I've ever frequented, and with the similarities under the skin between all the VAG motors, I'm sure there will be lots of useful info going forward.
  14. I’ve had the iPhone X since it launched last November and never had an issue, my vRS is 2015 MY16 with Bolero Hardware H24 and Software 0241, to the best of my knowledge it hasn’t been updated since it left the factory. If you are running older firmware it might be worth upgrading or you could remove and re-add the phone or finally a last resort reset the system.
  15. Haven’t had a retrim looked at one for my gti previously and, decided no matter how good a job it just wouldn’t look oem, so decided to replace the wheel, took a month or 2 to find an unmarked one at a breakers, but it kept the car original, which I preferred
