  1. I’ve had an OEM reverse camera dealer-fitted to my Kodiaq today. It’s still un-calibrated though as they didn’t have time to take it to a local body shop, to calibrate it and add the final code. They didn’t have their own tool to be able to calibrate it themselves and this might be the case at other Skoda Dealers too. As far as I can tell, it looks fully functional and calibration must only be for the fine tuning of aim correction. It will, if interrogated, bring up a fault code until finally calibrated and coded. It’s booked in next week for the calibration to complete the retrofit and get the 2 year fitted part warranty. I did check another couple of local ish dealers, for just the calibration and they quoted £100.
  2. I’ve had 3 Skodas with the emergency brake thing. They’ve all been a bit keen, especially approaching roundabouts in the near side lane with a car ahead that’s stopped on the outside lane. The Kodiaq is no different. Only had one full on event and that was from pedestrians on the pavement ahead as I went around a bend at about 25mph. They weren’t doing anything odd, the car just decided the event met the criteria. For the odd occasion that it gets things a bit wrong, it has always covered the dodgy situations very well and I’m glad that I have it.
  3. skomaz - I got my YETI from Rainworth Mansfield and they gave me a much better trade in for the Kodiaq than my local, DM Keith Wakefield. Mansfield is a bit of a trek but it’s great for my choice of vehicles. Rainworth Sheffield is where my sister has her Skoda serviced and they seem fine. That said, she’s just bought a new one from DM Keith Bradford, who I’ve bought from before. It all depends where stock is. 4/6 of my Skodas have been used cars so your options are a bit limited. Covid has altered the customer experience this time though. Go with the flow. There will always be times when sales people don’t do brilliantly. Be kind and see how they react. That can make all the difference. I have found an absolutely sterling Bosch Independent Service centre in Rotherham though. They did my front brakes and also the timing belt and water pump on the YETI, using Skoda parts and recorded it on the Skoda system. I’ll use them again for the Kodiaq. 😎

  5. I’ve just come out of a 2.0tdi SEL Yeti for a 1.4L 6sp 4x4 SEL 7st Kodiaq. Bags of room in it. Much quieter than the diesel, smoother ride too. Taken a few miles to adjust to the torque differences but done over 100 miles today, bringing it back from Skoda Mansfield, through Chesterfield and Sheffield to Wakefield and then a stop/start trip through Bradford traffic and back. 39.4 mpg average with 2 up and the dog. Long term mpg I noticed was 34mpg logged by the previous owner though. I’d expect with more load or a spirited right foot, it could drop the mpg to low 30s but I’m happy with my figures today. Corners nicely and it’s well behaved on the motorway. We think SEL spec is worth it, especially on a used car. Alcantara is easier to live with in the sun than full leather. Kodiaq heated seats are lush.
  6. .....until I drove a very nice petrol Kodiaq. Same place I bought the Yeti, offered strong money for PX in comparison to my local ŠKODA Dealer, despite their car being one of the least expensive in its age and spec. I’ll be sad to see the YETI go, as it’s been a fabulous car, but I pick up my 6th ŠKODA at the end of the week.
  7. The approved used car banners that magnetised to static cars with rubber feet, used to make a right mess of paintwork. Imagine what a sheet of rubber will do if you’re driving the car. Bars can be bought for £70 plus. Don’t risk it.
  8. Changing our diesel Yeti for a used petrol Bear next week. Sad to see the YETI go but a petrol car will suit our revised motoring needs better. Loved the test drive and looking forward to owning a 6th Skoda.
  9. Both right side doors have got several patches in the lower 6” where the paint had blistered and then broke. After they were declared as stone chips, I sanded them and primed/painted them during lockdown but the corrosion broke through again and they’re not looking their best. Skoda bodyshop are going to take the bottom 6” of paint back to metal, treat, prime, paint both doors and blend in.

  11. Fair point about leaving new paint for 3 months. I’ve been quoted between £500 and £600 for 9h and a 3 day window or £250 for just a wax but that’ll take 2 days.
  12. Decided to keep the YETI and give it a birthday. Alloy refurb, paint detail and protection. 🥳
  13. Yes. Inclusions are being blitzed, treated and then painted. I’ve googled good and bad bits about ceramic coating and that’s quite an eye opener, especially that they need cleaning very often. I may just get the paint corrected and the car waxed with a better wax, rather than coated. Thanks for your responses.
  14. My expectation is that the coating I’m being offered will last for 3 years.
  15. Decided to keep the Yeti after I have the zinc inclusion damage repainted next week. Going to give it a few weeks and get the alloys refurbed and then the car is going to be detailed. I can have a wax finish or can go to a ceramic coating for paint and alloys, which I quite like the sound of. Anyone had it done already and how has it lasted?
  16. Our 2016 110bhp 2.0 Tdi SEL is lovely. Coming up for 2 years with it now and was considering a replacement with petrol power due to a change in usage. I’ve bought a cheap android phone for dedicated VAG DPF use, so I can keep an eye on the soot and ash build up, but I can’t say that I’m that wild about a Karoq and the Kodiaq is still relatively dear to buy. So we’ll be keeping ours for a while longer and see how our new usage impacts soot/ash. First car for decades that has been named. Must be a Yeti thing.
  17. Running a 16 plate 110 diesel Yeti SEL. Considering a newer Karoq or Kodiaq in 1.5/1.4 SEL. I know to avoid a sunroof and the 19” wheels on Karoq, so Edition is out, but any other tips or preferences please? Thanks
  18. It’s not built yet but will be a MY2019 spec when they do, in August. Should land at the dealer by the end of September. Not sure the deal is related at all to the non WLTP stock. It seems to be for cars purchased between now and the end of September to be registered before the end of December.
  19. Sorry. It’s an Octavia 1.6 SEL Manual Hatch. It’s got to be registered before the end of December. It’s only £7500 off list including finance contributions.
  20. Is the 1.6 diesel trouble or is this a really good deal? I do 50 mile trips on the motorway twice a week and a few short trips to make up 10k miles per year.
  21. It's taken me a while to get on here again and say thank you David. So, thank you, David for putting the graft into Mrs Vivs new car and indeed for the winter prep job you did on mine before. Mrs Viv was thrilled with the finish.
  22. Thank you for the responses. I thought it sounded a bit odd. I will contact my dealer again, armed with more knowledge and examples.
  23. Been advised to fit these but dealer is telling me that he can't supply rear ones as Skoda don't make them for it. Presume it's a body kit thing? Has anyone else done this on their MC Estate please and if so, where did you get them. Thanks in anticipation.
  24. I've had several stop/start cars (non Skoda) before and their battery condition used to be more carefully monitored and trickled up at service intervals than other cars without that feature. Depending on the length and type of trips, it can usually cope but the charge can go south quite quickly. Bigger battery than normal but still susceptible to discharging damage. It'll probably be fine with a new battery now that you know what to keep an eye on.
