My adopted sprint yellow VRS
Hi Luke, always wanted one after test driving one when they first came out, didn't think it would happen. I have been checking if it had any nasty surprises lurking in the rust issues but up to now all looking ok I recon, 14 years as a city car and it's OK. Scuttle panel removed , full of leaves but not one bit of rust so all good. Cheers.

these dropped out to surprise me!
Hi Lee, that's it ,I cleaned the area around the filler neck as it was very thick with grime and diesel last year, maybe I pushed it off by accident. Where did you get the parts image, is it on the fabia site as I have not noticed it. Thanks

these dropped out to surprise me!
Put photos on my "build" thread -ought to be dismantling thread at the moment, two things caught my attention whilst removing the nears side plastic wheel arch liners, firstly the front where a piece of dense foam dropped out from the door side and secondly a clear tube that was loose from the rear one. Can anyone identify if the tube is a drain for fuel spilled whilst fuelling which is what I suspect , but not sure at all about the foam only it might be there to stop resonation of the wing, but no sign of adhesive . Thanks Martin

Brake fluid and engine oil
Hi , can anyone advise on what spec of brake fluid I ought to use in my 2006 vrs and engine oil( I want to use the best available) I have looked in the service book and the build sticker says its a QGO service interval -every 12 months or 15,000km. The owners manual was missing when my son got the car so I sourced a very good condition (luck) with the date of 08.04 so might not be relevant for the 06 model but things contained within look same. Brake fluid change every 24 months and spec -FMVSS 116 DOT 4, engine oil, it in hand book refers you to technical hand book which is original but nothing specific mentioned, I can only see VW 505 01. I am assuming that this 14 year old booklet fluid specifications has been superseded. Any clarification would be much appreciated as its as clear as mud to me. Thanks Martin

locking wheel bolt
Hi , having decided to take the wheels off the vrs with the intention of removing the plastic arch liners to see if anything nasty with rust is happening, only to find that the locking wheel bolt key is missing only had the car a year and didn't realise, also missing is the plastic bolt cover removal tool, but managed to get them off with two Marley tile fixing clips of all things. I took a picture of the bolt but my phone wont up load at the moment, it looks like a torx or star fitting with 10 ridges, no identifying numbers visible. Not at all like other locking patterns I have come across. My question is are they all the same or different, what could it be and size. Seen some on Ebay that look similar. Thanks Martin

Door window regulator replacement
Having started to replace the near side front window regulator new panel I found that the previous owner (not my son)had already drilled out the ten panel rivets and two of the four speaker ones. Not sure why of course unless it was leaking water. Anyhow once I took the panel off the door and started to remove the wiring to transfer to the new panel, I noticed the lock plastic support bracket was cracked where it was riveted to the lock part so I plastic welded it and It worked out ok. Then after that I dry fitted the lock panel to the door, but being pretty tight to ease in the door the plastic push fit thingies holding the lock bracket to the new panel came loose so I withdrew the panel and used stainless steel nuts and bolts in place of the 3 original thingies. all looking good, I re fitted the door pillar 4 electrical plugs and rubber boot again all good but what an difficult part of the job. That left me to fit the window winder motor and try it out and all good there, nice and smooth as you would expect. Now to the big issue, when I had the car that door handle was strangely sitting proud at the opening edge from the fixed section when the door was closed and worked ok, on re fitting the moving handle with the cable that pulls the lock catch, I thought it would be an idea to see if the available adjustment would hold the handle more flush which it did, I took several attempts with a screw driver working the lock to the locked position and checking that the handle would actuate the lock and every thing worked perfect. The locking unlocking worked perfect with the door in an open position, then to my shock when I closed the door and locked the car on the plip then unlocked it the door would not open, all others did. So anyone got a solution to this, I haven't riveted the door panel yet but quite shocked it has happened. Martin

tow bar for octavia vrs
I am wondering if it is possible to fit a tow bar to an Octavia vrs, estate or hatch for caravan towing. I cant say I have ever noticed one towing only non vrs models. My local skoda garage eventually said yes but say they have never fitted one, I also know that the vrs models have reduced ride height. Thanks in advance.
