Message on dashboard -emergency call restricted. Visit workshop.
Hi, as in the title this message started popping up on the dashboard at start up, before I call Skoda has anyone had the same issue and how was it resolved ( car is out of warranty) or is it a legal issue that Skoda must rectify at no cost. Regards Martin.

Front window operation switch now affecting both drivers and passengers
Following on with my issue of the drivers window being reluctant to operate when lowering as normal then requiring several switch operations to get it to rise, the drivers switch is now causing the same issues on the passengers side window. Can anyone advise how to ease out the drivers switch plate from the door to allow me access to the wires. Thanks Martin.

Driver window suddenly acting up.
Many thanks both for your thoughts and advice, once this nasty storm clears off I will try to sort it out. Regards Martin

Driver window suddenly acting up.
Got in the car last weekend and put both front windows down to clear the beaded water off before driving off and the drivers window took about six activations of the operating switch before it decided to rise up and close. Anyone had similar issues ,advise on possible rectification. I don't dare try it again in case it will not work again, as we are in a wet spell of weather yet again. Regards Martin

Is this the water pump issue?
Hi Bap33, yes I did mix oil temp with coolant temp , spoke to my independent garage who confirmed oil temp can fluctuate and it sounded an ok temp. Used car today and all fine ,water always 90 degrees and oil about 95 degrees on a 15 mile drive there and back but also about 6 degrees colder day than last drive. Martin.

Is this the water pump issue?
Thanks for your comments everyone, I understand that the engine self regulates it's temperature, as i mentioned this has never been as high or moving up and down so instantly as I saw whilst driving steadily in calm relative conditions. Whilst towing our caravan with a boot full of luggage in warmer weather the oil temp never rises above 90 degrees, that's what I cannot understand. Martin

Tire recommendations
I decided on Michelin cross climate 2 tyres all four wheels, expensive but makes car very quiet. covered about 1500 miles and very happy with them up to now.

Is this the water pump issue?
Whilst driving yesterday on the motorway on cruise at 70mph for 30 miles, dead calm and 14 degrees with no load with aircon on , I noticed the digital temperature gauge had moved from the normally steady 90d. to 104d. Then whilst watching it then started fluctuating down to 100.d up then 105d. This was all at the same speed, once on the drive it suddenly started to drop slowly to 90 again both radiator fans were running for a while (always let it idle for 2-4 mins) after a run. Checked the radiator expansion bottle and was at the level it has always been about the bottle half way seam, no obvious signs of coolant leaks / odours. Checked oil level and all looked ok, it was serviced about 200 miles ago. Any ideas on possible cause. Thanks martin

What have you done to your Superb III today?
I fitted Michelin cross climates recently and made a big difference from the original rubber supplied on our Sportline , its also made the estate boot area noise more prominent so be interesting to see if you find a solution of yours.

I recommended a Fabia to my sister
Hi DderekU, that was the exact spec engine in an sel version we drove. Martin.

I recommended a Fabia to my sister
Hi, responders, I don't regard my comments as a bit harsh at all, I have owned many cars over the last 40 odd years, some old some new, from Citroen BX's , Renault's 11 to 18's, Fords ,Volvo's and Skoda Octavia MK1, Fabia MK1 and now Superb, Fabia MK 1 vrs, a2009 Kia Ceed that belonged to my late Dad. The Fabia we test drove was the very latest up dated TSi 114 ps engine, and I stick with what I originally posted, even if the car was priced sensibly (at £23,000 it is crazy) for what is a small car with a poor interior. Oh the steering wheel felt fine but come on it was no way near the quality of the Kia Ceed or indeed other competitors. We also test drove a 2021 Honda 1.0 litre three cylinder Civic that was extremely smooth and flexible that my Sister liked and shortlisted but I noted that there were issues with the engine timing belt was an oil lubricated and was noted for lots of engine failures. We dodged a bullet there thankfully. Martin.

I recommended a Fabia to my sister
I recommended a Fabia 1.0 litre to my sister as a replacement for her faithful 18 year old 118,000 mile Toyota Corolla, a test drive was arranged last weekend, the model was the latest revised sel 114 bhp. Car size would be ok , although when we sat in the car I could not believe that this car was priced at over £22,000 , swathes of hard plastic and a very mediocre interior that were somehow cheaper looking than the interior in my old mk 1 Fabia vrs. Then the test drive, well it was so noisy, yes I know three cylinder engines can thrum a bit but they must have missed the sound proofing in this build, and it was very sluggish, pushing the throttle made it go of course but at the expense of more unwelcome cabin noise with the feeling it would not be very reasonable on fuel or relaxing to live with yes I know its available with the 1.5 engine but come on Skoda what went wrong from the days you built the mk1 Fabia which was an affordable good quality car to the very poor presentation that this new Fabia is never mind the low rent feeling of the interior. My Sister test drove a Kia Ceed hatch 1.5, and bought a 9 month old Ceed 2 1.5 petrol with 5,800 miles and the 7 year warranty re started for just under £18,000 cash. Streets ahead in quality, included standard kit, driving experience and finish and a proper sized car than the expensive Fabia, she looked at the Scala but did not like it. I still think My Superb is -well superb but what an eye opener looking at Skoda now they no longer are the value car they once were when we bought our new Octavia elegance 1.9 pd back in 2005. I do not in any way wish to offend any members, this is my opinion and am very shocked with the recent Skoda experience. Martin.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
New Michelin cross climate 2 tyres fitted , transformed the cabin noise, no droning since fitting them, wife mentioned that is was a lot quieter so it's hopefully worth the £850 !! from ATS. and last longer that 21,00 miles. Had them on our old Volvo xc70 D5, lasted well although they were the original cross climate. Martin.

Tell me about your fabia 1.0 litre as my sister is interested in buying one.
Many thanks for your thoughts.

Tell me about your fabia 1.0 litre as my sister is interested in buying one.
I have told my sister who wants to get a newer car that the Fabia would be a sensible buy used. I mentioned that the one litre would possibly be ok, she lives in a city but also drives on the motorway for work. I would like to know if the one litre engine has a wet timing belt, I know someone who has a Ford fiesta that suffered a bust engine apparently due to the belt in oil degrading well before time stated for belt change (Ford not interested). Any thing to look out for in the model up to 2021. I always recommend going for the more powerful version if made the same as the latest Fabia. Thanks in advance Martin.

laura has suddenly started to talk to me
On our 2020 superb it came with live sat nav. traffic and Laura voice control , car was 8 months old when purchased and not sure when Laura stopped as we didn,t use it. Also when putting in destinations the sat nav. stopped giving voice directions, when this stopped working am not sure. Although about a month ago when in conversation with a passenger Laura suddenly interrupted . Still no sat nav. verbal directions tho. Any one any ideas about the sat nav. verbal directions, I thought it was possibly only available by subscription. Regards Martin.

Next Base Dash Cam Installation on a Superb III SE L
Did yours have a pan roof, I wonder if it's a bit tight with the water drain tube.

Next Base Dash Cam Installation on a Superb III SE L
Hi gwu, same here with my Next Base dash cam although I have not fitted the rear facing camera, two things short of time with work and fear of braking the internal trims although I have some trim removal plastic tools, it's almost 2 years since I bought the camera so better get it done if it ever stops raining.

Skoda garage rings me up to tell me it requires a service.
Appreciate all members comments, as I have stated still no advice from the Skoda dealer on what service it requires, I get the feeling that they are not really interested once you buy the car. I had an independent local garage fit new brake discs last year on the Superb ,change the haldex rear hub oil last September but not clean/replace the filter as I was told the old oil from when it was built was in quite good condition, recommended though to change the plastic filter when it requires it's next oil change. All the works carried out by a recommended owner boss time served mechanic that takes time to show things when the car was raised on the hoist (brake disc condition) My families vehicles were all well looked after by a different independent garage own boss again but sadly he passed away very unexpectedly. I was just interested in how the Skoda dealer would deal with my questions, the silence says it all which is very disappointing as we have bought a new Skoda from them previously. Independent for me and as mentioned do some things myself as well. Regards Martin.

Skoda garage rings me up to tell me it requires a service.
Hi Rooted, yes that's the supposed reason for the recall, thanks for the comprehensive service info, have yet to read it. They quoted £359 for 3rd year service and £475 for the 4th year service. Regards.

Skoda garage rings me up to tell me it requires a service.
Had a phone call this morning from the superb suppling Skoda garage from a pleasant lady who did a security check then proceeded to advise that our superb required it's four year service ( no doubt because of the safety recall that is booked in for next week). I mentioned it was not four years old until September. Anyhow strangely I received an e-mail from the dealer 3 days ago, in this e-mailed guff amongst extended warranties it mentioned that the superb's service was due from just £220 with a minute star symbol. She asked me for the cars current mileage and I said approximately 21,000. I asked what the cost would be and she said there were three service prices, minor, intermediate and major. She advised it probably required a major service although as it was low mileage it may just need an intermediate service but that was up to the senior technician. Costs for each were mentioned and a major was over £400. I then asked what each service included-parts materials and work carried out. She could not advise on this and said a technician would e-mail me this information today. As yet no one has sent me the relevant info, obviously I understand if anything is found outside of the service carried out it would cost more . Am I not within my rights to ask what I would be getting for my money from a professional concern. Thoughts please. Thanks
