  1. The trims are bonded on and may come off but will be a job to do. Skoda were charging a fortune for the lower black trim though.
  2. I let mine go, front damage was more severe (bumper/wing/bonnet dented and latches etc) and was offered nearly the same again for write off value, except the repairs would actually have cost that this time. Still got a 2013 elegance and someone has put the Monte Carlo back on the road, so that’s good!
  3. I ran a Mk2 Monte Carlo on Audi A1 wheels with 215/45 R16 90 load rating. These are standard Audi size and the A1 is vv similar to the Fabia. That greatly improved the ride over 17s. You have to declare nonstandard wheels and tyres to insurance (didn’t affect premium but some insurers won’t quote for that). Currently running a Mk2 Elegance on 205/45 R16s and it seems skittery and not quite as well setup. It is on the ditchfinders it came with though, I may swap it to the A1 wheels when they need replacement (MC got written off and I put the original wheels back on)
  4. Well even better than that, someone reversed into it in their landrover today… it’s only been back on the road for 15 days! What are the chances…
  5. Thought I should cross-post my experience here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/534743-monte-carlo-estate-written-off-which-rear-bumper-replacement/#comment-5965578
  6. yes, back looking for the rear bumper replacement here. Good news is the body shop have patched the bumper up and MOTed it, so it'll be back on the road tomorrow. They found a monte carlo bumper comes in 4 parts, Black bottom piece, sides and the rest of the bumper. The black piece at the bottom is around £700 on its own, so we'd be looking at a £2000+ repair with all new parts, so rightly written off! (This is just for the bumper, no other crash damage on the car!). Guess it'll be a second hand one. What is a bit of a nightmare, is that it appears the assessor has cut one of the parking sensor cables and snapped another in half, so it'll need a new one and they can't source the part. In prepping the car + respraying the assessor also debadged the back, and the TSI badge has gone too, Another phone call to insurance is in order!
  7. Yes there's an extra cable to run. You specifically need a 6R0035501D which I got from cars-equipment (https://www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/roof-antenna-8/oem-6r0035501d-vw-skoda-roof-shark/ - took weeks to arrive IIRC), most of the sharkfin aerials don't have DAB. You'd need to run DAB and GPS wires down through the headlining and then behind the glove box which is a fair bit more work than windscreen mount aerial.
  8. Thanks. It's at a local bodyshop now. Weirdly, the insurance assessor that had written it off has actually stripped the car down and started to repair it. It did have some panel damage but they've already fixed it... I get the feeling I just denied someone a cheap new fabia.
  9. Depends what you mean on android/apple compatibility? We have two RNS-315s with Bluetooth and DAB+ in our Fabias. They both connect up to iPhones fine over bluetooth, and music played over it sounds good, only problem seems to be it's much quieter than an internal CD. DAB is great on both. You need to be careful when getting an RNS-315 as not all of them have DAB; our Monte Carlo had an RNS 315 but no DAB originally. You can get away with a windscreen DAB and internal GPS aerial but I actually ran the wiring through the headlining on our new one and bought the proper sharkfin DAB aerial for it.
  10. Thanks for that, I ended up leaving it for now. It hasn't got any worse and usually sounds better. I think my worry was prompted by getting a second fabia (another 2013 1.2 TSI 105, but with only 50k on the clock) where the chain is way quieter.
  11. Heya, Unfortunately our 2013 Fabia Mk2 Monte Carlo estate was in a (very minor) traffic bump the other week and has been written off. I've bought it back as the damage looked very much superficial, but the rear bumper is smashed. There doesn't appear to be any panel damage, but it's off to a local bodyshop for a quote today. I was wondering if anyone knows which bumper to get for a 2013 Monte Carlo estate? Is it the same bumper as a VRS but sprayed differently? I'm guessing it's different to the hatchback rear bumper? Insurance assessor seemed insane, it's been written off as a Cat S with damage to the rear drivers side panel, tailgate, bumper and rear crash bar. I'd looked the car over before it went off and the tailgate and wing appeared untouched, so was considering new bumper + light and perhaps the crash bar. Will see what the bodyshop say today. Insurance assessor hadn't flagged the light for replacement, but I think it needs one.
  12. We had a maxi cosi with base back in the day - used a couple of Recaro seats once the kids were older and finally stopped needing one this year! Didn't have any issue fitting the seats in the skoda mk2 estates, except the third seat belt gets entirely blocked. You'd have to be very small to fit in the middle anyway!
  13. And there’s a video. I’m fairly convinced that I should get it checked out at least - it didn’t used to be that noisy and I think that’s the chain? Fabia video.mov
  14. Hiya, My Monte is doing pretty well but I think the chain is getting a bit noisy. How does this sound to everyone? It’s a 63 plate 1.2 TSI 105 and is on 115K. it’s been serviced annually/10k since new and I’ve owned it since 22k/11 months old. Fabia noises.m4a
