  1. I rejected a used Octavia 2.0TDI DSG that behaved oddly, clunked up and down the box, smell of burning clutch when it happened. At first the dealer told me it needed a new flywheel, then it was going to replace the gearbox. As I'd bought it under their used car scheme I asked them to supply another car but not from the same source - the first owner was Enterprise Rent A Car and if I'd known that I wouldn't have bought it. They weren't able to get another car so I told them I wanted my old car and the difference I paid back. They then told me they had sold my old car so i got all the money refunded to me. Funny thing is, I drove past the dealer about a week later and my old car was on the forecourt......

  2. It they've done about 12000 miles they're probably ex-rental vehicles. I bought one that was reputed to be 'ex-Skoda' but turned out it was owned by Enterprise.

Needed a new DSG gearbox within 3 weeks of having it and was rejected.

One of the rental companies uses a company name on the registration document but I can't remember what it was.....

  3. Thanks for all your commetns guys.

Just to clarify, I was looking at new cars, told both dealers I was after a 2.0TDI with a DSG box and the first one told me 'there aren't any'.

Dealer number 2 was much more helpful, was able to check the stock and lo and behold, they do exist but his cost to change was a good bit more than I wanted (and expected) to spend.

  4. After 8 months driving an Astra......... I felt the need to get back to being a Skoda owner.

In these times of credit crunch and nobody buying new cars I thought I'd manage to get a reasonable deal - however, nobody seems to wants to sell me a car!!!!!

Local dealer wasn't interested at all and one a bit further away offered my a crap trade in price for the Astra...................

Looks like I'll need to keep it a bit longer :(

  5. I had 2 - one for almost 2 years which was smooth, no jerky changes and made me want to get another one and the second one for 4 weeks which turned out to be an ex-rental vehicle that needed a new gearbox at 12000 miles, which I rejected and got my money back.

Sounds like theres something not quite right with it - don't let the dealer fob you off - should be smooth.

  6. For the moment it's the end of Skoda ownership for me.

I was prepared to take my old car back but they had sold it so refunded me the whole amount and were really good about it - hats off to them.

I've no idea what I'm going to get next, but the money will burn a hole in my pocket till it's spent!

  7. Another update - the dealer obviously thinks my head buttons up the back - if I decide not to take this duffer of an Octavia back and take a new one, the extra I'll have to stump up is £4700!!!!!!!

They must think no-one has internet access or reads motoring mags - they've overlooked the free spec upgrade so I should only pay for an Ambiente instead of Elegance which if I've done the maths right should only be £3300 which is still way off what I think is reasonable.

    Any comments welcome!

  8. Todays update - Skoda has told the dealer to put a new 'box onto the car - however, I still don't want to take it back.

Dealer is now saying 'I can't magic another car out of nowhere', but you could have your old car back.

Told him to go away and work out his best price to get a new one........

As soon as I know any more, I'll post it!

  9. update on the exchange - only car they can find the same as the duff one is a satin grey one thats also an ex-hire care so I declined the offer.

"Don't worry, we'll find you a suitable car" and then told me they still had my trade in.......

I'm half tempted to take my old car and my cash back.
