I know this old but don’t suppose you no what colour the cable was mine has all these symptoms and won’t start would be great if I could find what cable it was so I can test it

Brand new battery on it lads turn key nothing happens, the lad who has been fixing it has identified it down to that part, I’m a novice so can only take his word for it that’s the frustrating part about all this

ESP abs can’t remember the other one driving down the motorway at 70 Speedo died all dash electrics went off but car was still driving so pulled off motorway turned car off, went into limp mode made it home next day put key in turned it no ignition no dash light and wouldn’t start

The cars completely dead turn key nothing at all happens, I will check, the old part is still on passenger seat

Oh ok he did say it come from the same Octavia 2 vrs same year

How can you code one of these from a another car, when it’s fitted to the new car but the new car won’t start because of the column control unit, any code readers that don’t need power to the car or is this just not possible 😀

Step closer cars been off road since December, the guy who’s fixing said it’s the column control unit that’s the problem so his changed this now but it has to be programmed once his done that do you think I will finally have my car back

This might sound like a really stupid thing to ask but I’m not going to pretend to know loads about cars, if you take the casing off round the steering wheel underneath their is a black box does anybody no what this is called looks a bit like a pc hard drive ha ha

Still haven’t got the car sorted not very mechanical but there is a silver box underneath the steering wheel, auto mechanic has said that was the problem more than likely due to a cheap Stereo that was fitted, anyway he changed part yesterday and still wouldn’t start his back today will update this thread once I ever get the car up and running again.
