With the damage to the Karoq & RR as it is, the Karoq being parked, the RR driver must have been driving down the pavement.  Was the Karoq on the other side of the road from where it started off?

They think the RR driver blanked out, swerved left. mounted curb then pushed our car to the middle of the road. Amazed she didnt run a pedestrian over

Two things, typical Range Rover driver (sorry Aspman) and no way would I have the Kodiaq repaired after that severe damage. It needs to be scrapped.

I dont think we have a choice do we?
My argument was that we purchased it new so we know its spot on. We are towing horses. Cant be having any issues at all.
Why should we lose out and have a repaired car. Its 18months old

    Did the airbags deploy?

It looks repairable & if the airbags are intact then the chassis rail (I know its a monocoque) will not have deformed nor the boot floor.

The damage is minimal (structural) because of the towbar & the height of the RR's bumper.

No they didnt go off. Do they go off when locked and parked up?

If it is new enough they can move all the parts to a new bodyshell, but you wouldn't want to have it back afterwards as it is almost impossible to do 100% correct

No we wouldnt want it back, We tow a horse box with it.

I know it wouldnt be a write off but would it be logged as damage repaired?

Ah I just glanced at his signature and saw oil burner, now that I’ve looked again I can see his signature hasn’t been updated. Apologies.

The signature was from the VRS.

Its the 150 oil burner. Edition 5 seat with factory tow bar.

She doesn't drive like a women. Shes really good. Trailer is like new.

I would have said the electric handbrake sometimes sticks a bit, but she manually released it once she found it wouldn't set off easy.

I have to say, I have never stalled a diesel car in  my life... until we got this. Total gutless until its on a roll. No low down power at all. I can dump the clutch on my transit and it never stalls.I am sure its a week clutch, along side poor low down power that's the issue.

No trouble towing it on normal roads (keep revs up), just steep hill starts.

By the way. Bad driver or not. It takes a hell of a lot of abuse to make a clutch smoke like that

  6. After 5 years of loving our Octavia VRS estate, we needed an upgrade.

Circumstances changed and we needed a car to tow a horse box. So we got a Kodiaq 150 manual gearbox.

Got it late August. Bout horse trailer 2 weeks ago. No problem towing, other than its gutless at low revs.

2nd time out and wife was towing it up a steep hill. Car in front stopped. When she set off, it wouldn't move without loads of revs. This was followed with a cloud of white smoke and the smell of a burnt out clutch.

When she returned back to the yard, she let the clutch out and it stayed on the floor. She lifted it up with her foot and all ok.

Horse box was 900kg and 450kg pony. Well in the weight.

Skoda may change the clutch as its only done 1000 miles. Problem is, we don't trust it. Could have killed the horse and rote the car off

    Anyone else had problems?

You always pay more for Michelin - the extra goes towards Mr Ecclestone's cosmetic surgery budget (or used to anyway).

The original Bridgestone Potenza on mine seem to grip really well but offer no alloy rim protection at all. Going to get Conti SportContact 5 next.

That's a point. Which ones have good protection

  8. Our  Vrs estate is due some new tyres. It came with P zero's. Terrible traction. Doesn't grip at all in the wet. Never again.

We got had to change the rears, after 1 week due to a nail. Got Nexen as they had damage cover with them. They are fine, but as on the rear, its hard to tell.

Looking at Michelin Pilot Sport 4, but at £160 from Camskill, they arnt cheap (225/35/19)

Good Year f1 at £116, so not bad.

What is your experience with tyres. Running 19's so not as popular.

  9. ^This.

    Or Superskoda sell them http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Lightning/

Don't know which is cheaper. If Superskoda cheaper maybe bargain with the dealer and get them to match or better the price?

Or you could see if any scrappers have the correct one.

EDIT: It appears Superskoda don't do the non-LED version for the estate, only the hatchback

They are LED and it is an estate

  10. If you know anything about tyres, you can spot a repair EASILY. A good repair is 100% safe

Also putting a new tyre on is replacing old with new. What I mean is, the tread with be thicker on the new one. So, does every one on hear change all 4 when they get a puncture. Very OTT if you ask me.

Motorcycle. Thats a different thing. I have a 200 bhp bike and ever nail cost me £160. Obviously I only go up to 70mph anyway :)

  11. Don't know why I put p600. Its p zero :) Showing my age.

I would trust a part worn over a budget tyre any day. Used to get new budget tyre for our Galaxy. It would slide in the wet at any speed. Yet these are legal.

I am getting a new one. Didn't want a pzero as they are bad in the wet. Didn't want different brand tyres all over the place though
