  1. Thanks again Worrior, It will give me something to look into for sure.
  2. Hey Warrior193, Have checked both wheel bearing and driveshaft. Both have no movement in them other than what is normally expected. Thanks for the info 😁.
  3. Hey all, So during the snow I bumped the Front Rightside wheel on a curb (slid on black ice down hill. Bumped at between 5/10 mph if that.) The wheel was turned to the left as I was trying to round a corner and the ice had other ideas. Since this, there has been a droning noise coming from that wheel. It comes on around 30mph and gets worse as you get faster, is unbearable at motorway speeds, eases off when you take your foot off the accelerator and increases significatnly when your accelerating. I have inspected the car and had a mechanic inspect it and nothing is obviously out of place, bent or damaged. I know there is a wealth of knowledge on here, so thought it the best place to ask as everyone on my end is coming up with nothing. Any ideas? Also, thank you for the help in advance .
  4. I would say personally that is a complete new mirror. Some little twerps decided to kick my passenger side mirror off a couple of years back which broke in the same place as yours. After a trying many things to repair it, the mirror mechanism wasn't 100% operational and the mirror casing and positioning was still out. It was fairly simple and inexpensive tracking down a complete mirror unit online from scrapper/ brakers on eBay, Parts Shark and other similar sites. I couldn't find the correct colour however, so had to re-fit my original case which was simple enough thankfully. The new unit is easy to fit if a little time fiddly as you have to take off the door card before uncovering the nuts that hold it in place, but once it is done should work as well as the original one. Good luck with it 🤞🏼
  5. Hi all, I have a 11 plate Superb estate 4x4 and was wondering if there was any way of fitting the false boot floor that I have seen in many other Superb estates? I have previously owned a 2 wheel drive model with this is feature and from what I can see the area for fitment look the same. Any advice given would be much appreciated. Thanks folks
  6. So I have had a squeak coming from around the area of the AUX belt for the past few weeks. It's gradually got worse. Sounded like the aux belt as that is the first thing that's springs to mind. The AUX belt has been changed and still it's squeaking, nowhere near as bad but still there. The squeak disappears when the engine gets hot. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions on what to look at next. Thank you in advance.
  7. I know it's been a while since I've posted and hope all are well. I'm still having problems with the radio function on my stereo. When I contacted the company they said the blue wire has to be connected to a 12v ignition feed, however this being a can bus vehical doesn't have one (according to online sources from many feeds). So wonderful people what can I now do to try and sort it out. I've tried looking online and no one seems to know. Fingers crossed someone know
  8. From what they say the thing is just a dongle you plug into one of the USB's on the back of the unit (guessing where you'd plug in the 3g dongle). I have wondered if the antenna is at fault but there is not real way of checking.
  9. Awesome thanks for the help, I've orders the correct connectors which should be arriving shortly and fingers crossed they should help the radio. As for WiFi I've ordered an amplifier dongle which should boost the signal enough (fingers crossed). @ste2000 the antenna on the back of this head unit is a insulated cable between 5cm and 10cm long.
  10. Does anyone happen to know if the aerial connections are a double white plug or a single blue one? I've looked into reception problems and people have used both and can't seem to agree on which one it is. Also I'm going to try a booster dongle for the WiFi and see if that makes any difference as they aren't that expensive.
  11. So after a lot of deliberation, I took the plunge and bought the system which @Noddy90 suggested. It arrived 3 days early (bonus) and was installed within a couple of hours. That within it self was a really simple process. Take the old system out fit the new leads for the GPS/ Mic plug in the new harness fit the system No hic-ups, no worries. Fired up the system for the first time and it was already a vast improvement over the old Columbus system. It does make the cabin feel classier. HOWEVER, all is not well with unit. After less than a day of use problems have already appeared. the CD/ DVD function doesn't work - the disc is taken but does not fully load into the machine before it trips out and tries to take it again. (there is nothing already in the machine, that has been checked) the built in WiFi is atrocious. It can not pick up a strong signal from more than a few feet away. It is not a signal strength issue as many other devices can pick up the same signal from a lot further away. the radio signal is ridiculous. It has been connected via the correct method but the stations are full of fade and noise, they are un-listenable. finally, it has decided to trigger an Air Bag warning. I know this could be completely unrelated but nothing to do with the Air Bag system was touched during the installation. Now I know that I have probably been given a dodgy unit and I have contacted the company about the issues and am awaiting on a response which I will update here once I have received it. The unit IS fantastic and has the potential to be amazing in the car as all of the wheel controls worked straight from the box and the sound quality is really good (also being android being able to have Spotify and the likes is much easier than carrying tones of CD's) but I am posting this as a caution to others so that even though it is advertised as a direct replacement, issues can still happen. P.S: before anyone blames the installation as I carried it out myself. I have fitted all of my cars with aftermarket stereo units and have never encountered an issue. I'm not saying that I'm perfect and there is always a first but this was by far the easiest install I have done which makes it more of a shame that it is the one having issues. P.P.S: thanks for all the prior comments again, they were really helpful
  12. @Noddy90 Thanks for everything, this is something I'll most definitely be looking into at some point then, especially as it seems to have all the bells and whistles anyone could ask for.
  13. @Noddy90 Was it a direct fitment? Did it take other things to fit? e.g: fascia plate, double din adapter, aerial adapter, etc. In what capacity do the parking sensors still work? I'm guessing as just audible tones. Are you still as happy with it at this point as you were 5 days into using it? Thanks again for sharing as its great to get some real life advice on options I and many others wouldn't normally look into.
  14. I need some advice guys and girls. I was wondering if it was worth updating from the Columbus system to a aftermarket double din stereo. Has anyone done this before and if so have the maganed to keep steering wheel controls and parking sensors working with whatever they put in. If people could let me know what they've tried and if they have had any success it would be much appreciated. Cheers all. Phil.
