  1. Unfortunately not, I've had two Mk4's since June '22 and none have mine have gone this way. I even get my car valeted so who knows what chemicals they use on mine. Could be worth speaking to your local dealer? Potentially a warranty claim?
  2. Oh 100%, When I started driving in 2001, the fuel price was so reasonable I never needed to keep an eye on mpg. That was until I got a Golf VR6. Mid 20's mpg was frightening, even hit 8mpg at one point! How manufacturers are able to do what they do nowadays is pretty fantastic
  3. Looking stunning after the wash mate, really smart
  4. After recently getting out of a mk4 1.0tsi 110 into a 1.5tsi I knew that it would affect my consumption. On a drive from Stoke to Cheshire Oaks yesterday (50ish miles, M6, M56) I saw 53mpg average going there and on the way back (which was a little more spirited) was 49mpg, so really happy with that. I know my previous 1.0tsi 110 would've been around 50-56mpg.
  5. Disappointed in them for that. I've never had that issue with garages in the past fitting parts I've purchased. I was stoked to know a VAG tuner was so close to me, then read some of their reviews. Have you used them much previously? I'm pretty new to the Newcastle/Stoke area and were hoping to use them for this exact thing. my Mk4 is crying out for the lowering stick.
  6. Surface rust is pretty good going really with all things considered. Hope the drive back goes well!
  7. Absolute stunner mate. Dare I say it, the lowest mileage example left in the wild. Considering its lived its life in one of the wettest parts of the UK, the bodywork looks in fantastic shape.
  8. Just got my letter today, best book it in!
  9. I wondered this too when I got mine last year. It was my first DSG so everything about the gearbox was new to me! It always happened when I took my foot off the accelerator pedal. I assumed the DSG was going back into neutral and then when you put your foot back on the gas it would then decide what gear it needed to be in.
  10. Pretty much the same as above. If I know I'll only be waiting a short while, I'll stay in Drive. If I've just come to a stop on a multi light junction, I'll whack in Neutral and pull the handbrake. I try not to creep when in slow moving traffic, I don't know what wear that might have on the DSG box, so I avoid it where I can Don't think there is any right or wrong way to do things, I'm only 1 year into driving a DSG myself.
  11. I had a Mk3 colour edition, that was painted. I'd bet on my nan that the Mk4 is the same
  12. Not had an issue luckily, by chance I use a Thermos that tapers out in size so it fits perfect. Must admit if I used a regular mug size, it would bug the hell out of me. There are no official alternatives out there. Maybe ebay will pop something up for you?
  13. Wondered if this was just me. 22 plate monte mk4 with the same issue. I find I have to hold down the boot release. Even then it doesn't work every time. I've started just double pressing unlock now, not ideal!
  14. Here you go mate. They are available to buy online
  15. Exactly this Andy, Took me a few goes on the first one until I got the hang of where I needed to pull!
