simon100gs started following 14 plate Superb Haldex pump issue and Coolant leak
-
Hi All Car started leaking coolant, warning light came on, so topped up with G12 and went on my way 5min down road in stop start traffic, light come on again, pull over and fluid drained again. Topped up and got myself to garage. seemed as though when engine got hotter it retained fluid a little better. garage checked rad and that does not seem to be the problem, they think it maybe the pipe work that runs around car from engine manifold but th bit they can see they cannot find any cracking or splits. Has anyone else had a similar experience, I am going to garage tomorrow to have a look or for mechanic to try explain his thought process Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, My Mk2 is a 2011, 2.0l 170bhp 4x4 elegance saloon, not sure if that makes any difference to a common fault Thanks in advance Simon

14 plate Superb Haldex pump issue
simon100gs replied to 911hillclimber's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
To update, had mine sorted in Leeds at JCR Ltd as I do not have access to ramps. The did a spot on job, pump was still okay according to diagnostic machine, even though the guy suggested it had not been off in its 11 years and115k, very happy with the service and was okay me watching what was going on. To my embarrassment the oil looked like Guinness once drained so was glad it’s now sorted and good for another 20k, thanks all for the replies -

Cheers, my Haldex 4 is now on 115k oil last changed around 30k ago, so well overdue. It’s great having forums like this because you would have idea, I just get mine serviced every year thinking all well. is the pump an easy fit, hour labour? for an experienced mechanic -
14 plate Superb Haldex pump issue

Hi, I am taking my car in for Haldex filter and oil change next week, I have a feeling the pump may need replacing which are around £170, what other costs should I incur for the garage to fit and is there anything I should be asking to check. the car has been spot on but realised when I booted it a month or so ago it struggled to get traction. Thanks -
I had mine done a couple of years ago, I fell through the floor when I got my bill, both needed doing at the same time

I have just installed the new antenna to Columbus unit, a dodle of a job. Until I started up the car and now has the air bag light has come on and suggests there is an airbag error. Fitting new antenna: once the cover was removed I carefully unattached the passenger airbag clip to pull out head unit. Fit part and reversed the process. i have tried switching off the passenger air bag in glovebox and the connection seems to work as ‘off’ symbol ignites, so not used over excessive force removing head unit cover. i have removed the new item and still airbag light on. (I thought magnet on antenna may have played a part) What could I have done or is it a coincidence. I cannot see how that cable causes an airbag issue. either way any suggestions on a fix would be great cheers in advance. Simon

Discoloured rear quarter window trims
simon100gs replied to TerryJP's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
Amazing this site, was just looking for this and on the first page, easy search. when I went into Skoda dealer (mine has a scratch from one of kids hitting a dry stone wall) I was told rear window quarter light removal just to replace trim and would be around £350. what got me looking at sorting this again was that some guy had changed the chrome to black, which looked a bit sportlineesque and assume he must have found a different way to remove to get painted unless it was a wrap over the chrome, in which case does wrapping seem a feasible option? cheers Simon -
Thanks for the reply and info, I have ordered of Ebay one, so lets hope its a simple unscrew, unplug an reconnect thanks simon

Good afternoon all I have a 2011 twin door and my Columbus Sat Nav has decided to revert to a place in Germany, (I assume where built.) I cannot get the thing to relocate to my position, has anyone had a similar problem or know of any fixes? Thanks in advance Simon

It does go off, thats what got me out of bed and saved the unit from being nicked

I must admit I was amased when I saw how easy it was to remove a thought the same, I thought this level of poor design was resigned to the 1980s. Having a bit more of a rant, this car is the newest I have had for a good few years. I am amazed at the complexity of the design these days. Changing bulbs is a task.

Hi Just had cambelt changed and water pump along with a full service, mot, tyres, the full mashings. A few day after getting the car back I have an airbag fault and a coolant temp fault. The temp gauge takes around 5/10 mins to get upto 90 deg. on a local stop start dive. The floor directed fan seems a bit weak and not overly warm. Once the car gets upto temp, I stop and then start the car again and the light goes off. I have checked coolant level and it seems ok. Does any one have any suggestions on the Airbag and coolant fault before going back to my garage. I am a bit pessamistic about VAG motors and their faults, my last motor a Passat and that was a PITA with EPC light. Cheers Simon

Hi Live in W. Yorks near Bradford and also had someone trying to nick my Columus. I caught them at it, 1 scum bag in the passanger side window carefully taking out the unit while the other two on look out, with possibly another in a car for a quick get away. Only managed to shout from the bedroom window but it moved them off. Rang the plod, who pretty much did nothing. I also though these things where meant to be hard to nick, but I suppose car manufacturers would not make any money then. The real pain is getting rid of all the glass. I wont buy another car with sat nav integrated again.
