  1. Sorry to hijack this but it's the closest I can find without starting an entirely new topic... these things are related.

Can the cup holders in that area reasonably hold two cups? Only reason I ask is because one looks smaller than the other. Has anyone had issues?

Reason I ask what may seem a little thing is because the car that the Fabia would replace in our household doesn't have cup holders (previous car did and you forget how useful they are)!

Thanks. Also a feel your pain about the iPhone cables, Jane. Best bet I can think of is using a little tie-around to keep the cable itself neat and tidy. I have a cable from a company called Native Union and they come with neat little leather 'belts' to keep the cable wrapped up...

Depends on how hipster you are. The small cup holder also takes a take-away espresso sized cup (macchiato, picolo latte etc). The door cup holders are also very good. I have used them for takeaway coffee cups without issue (I spend a lot of time on the road, hence all the coffee-related size comparisons)

  2. If you are facing up an incline when you come to a stop, the brakes will engage to prevent rollback. If you take your foot off the brake, hill hold will hold the car for a few sessions before crawling like a regular auto.

It can be a little jerky if you don't realise what is happening and just mash the accelerator pedal - same as city stop.

  3. It needs colour maxi dot. The display looks cheap with the standard one.

I'm inclined to agree with you there - although to be fair it IS a cheap car so i guess they had to save money somewhere.  That being said, my parents' Polo, which should be the "premium" offering over the Skoda, doesnt have the colour display.

Can't say it has really bothered me.

  4. ABT have a secondary ECU tune they tell me will work on the new 1.2 TSI. Quoting 100kw and 225nm. Price is a bit high though.

I'm also told APR will be out with a tune by December with similar figures.

Still tossing up over whether to do it or not - don't want to lose my warranty unnecessarily

  5. Absolutely loving my 110 TSI. The engine is smooth and torquey - runs out of puff a little at the top end but but overall a really sweet engine for mine.

It's a little louder than my dads polo due to less sound deadening which means I get a little turbo whistle through sometimes which is nice.

Overall I think it's a great match for the 7speed dsg - especially in the twisties.

  7. Mines not a Monte - Australia only get the Ambition spec, with option packs to add to it. I don't have the paddles, but my experience with paddles before has been pretty meh and I usually go for the gear stick anyway.

I've actually found that pulling back on the stick to go into sport mode is a good way to get a quick downshift to pass or similar then tugging it again to go back to drive. I use that more than manual mode at the moment.

  8. I had this discussion with my dad, who drives an X1 with a panoramic sunroof. He reckons beyond the initial gimmick of the sunroof, he doesn't open it anymore, but loves having the blinds open to let the light in, so I'm hoping I won't miss it when I get mine with the glass roof.

  9. I am a bit confused as to what Fabia model I have?

I ordered a 2016 Fabia Hatch; manual; MY16; 1200. I wanted a cruise control+REAL spare-wheel so added the 'Travel Pack' that also gave 16" alloys; LED daytime front; wobbly-steering when falling asleep; and other stuff that 'just-came' with pack. I also went with the 'Care Pack' extended warranty+free 3 services that seemed good value. Build-date: 6/2015 Compliance date: 8/2015, so probably got one of the first in Oz??

    Now the queries:

I now learn it's a 'Fabia III" Wasn't told, no worries! Nice!

The Invoice said: FABIA NJ MY16 FABIA AMB TS 66/1.2 M5F  Where's the "I" gone from TSI and what does this mean? Whats 'M5F' mean?

So, it's a Fabia 'AMBITION?' No-one told me? (Doesn't matter but confusing.) What's an 'Ambition?'

    ===========

    What I've discovered so-far:

    1. Engine stops when in neutral at traffic-lights. Fix: Give 'finger' to honking-Holden-driver behind, depress clutch, away I go!

    2. On hill, 2 second brake hold-on allowing easy drive-off.

    3. Turn left or right window-wipers come-on. Have to learn trafficators on left! Duh!

    4. Follow digital display about gear-changes (happens @ 2000 rpm) matches my 'sedate' hair-grey-colour. (Slows me down as my previous Jazz often had wheel-spin!)

    5. Wouldn't let me reverse out of garage as ultrasonic rear sensors requested, 'Look behind.' Found solution on touch-screen. Touch 'Symbol.'

    6. Indicators come-on when using cruise. Be 'gentle' with stalk!

    7. Pairs easily with wifey's iPhone 4, not tried my Samsung C5220 yet. (She even claims it got an eBook from her iPad that wasn't on the iPhone???)

    More to discover!

Must admit, it takes me back to those years when my thighs quivered in anticipation! And THIS is just a, 'Fabia!'

Assuming my fellow Aussie's humour has not been lost on the rest of the crowd, I'll clear up some of the confusion.

All  Australian-spec Fabias are the Ambition model, with additional pre-selected option packs (Travel Pack, Sports Pack, Premium Sports etc).  Given it is a manual, it will be the 66TSI (or 90PS) model as the 81TSI (110PS) only comes with the DSG.  This is the tyranny of distance and a 6 week boat trip over.

Also, for the benefit of the rest of forum, we only got the Mk2 Fabia before this one - and it was never referred to as such.  I only realised there was one before that when I came onto these forums as well.

As for the general car buying experience here, can't give too much comment as I usually know more than the rep when I rock up. Once they have your money, they don't really care anymore - especially VAG dealers unfortunately. That being said, my Skoda has been great so no complaints so far.
