  1. Hi, all. I've just done a quick OBD2 scan on my 2017 Superb estate and it's come up with this. Everything seems fine. The battery has been going flat, but the car's hardly been used for the last few months, so I assumed it was that. Any thoughts on where to look? It had a door replaced under warranty 18 months ago and previous scans haven't shown any issues.

  2. Well, I’ve taken the plunge and as of 30th October, I own my Superb. Add the overall cost of the lease over 2 years and the final purchase price and I got the car for £4k off list price. I’m happy with that - I’ve had the car from new, so I know its full history, it’s immaculate and has only 18600 miles on the clock.

  3. Leasing was very good financially. I got a quote from Simpson Skoda which my local dealer matched. It was a 24 month, 20,000 mile deal, so minimal servicing. I like to keep my cars clean and in good shape, so had no problems when I handed back the first one. I’m perfectly happy with the one I have now, I’m not bothered about driving a new car every two years, the deals are not as good as they were and I’m in the position to buy it outright this time around, so that’s my plan. If I don’t go for my Superb, I’ll be on the lookout for a used 5 Series Touring.

  4. I spoke to VWFS and they were quite helpful. They advised contacting them closer to the time for a more accurate price but gave me a quote for reference. It’s just under what I’d expect to pay at a dealer, so not as good as I’d hoped. I suppose I need to factor in the convenience and the knowledge of the car’s history from new, but I don’t want to pay over the odds.

  5. I’m on my second Superb lease which is due to end in November. Last time, I was given a fairly attractive quote to purchase the car but I’d already signed up to the second lease. I’d like to buy this one and wondered if anyone had any experience of negotiating the price with VWFS.  My last car eventually sold at auction a couple of months after I handed it back, so I’d have hoped they would consider a reasonable offer for a guaranteed cash sale.

I've heard a knock a few times from NSF suspension that only appears when going over speed bumps in my 2018 superb. Havent had chance to look yet but car will be due its service shortly so will get them to look over it whilst in.

Have read various stories of the suspension transport wedges being left in from new which can cause various creaks/knocks whilst driving.

The transportation blocks were left in my first superb - caused knocking noises  and severely restricted suspension travel.

  7. Here's a picture of my Superb. More precisely, here's a picture of the transportation blocks which were not removed at the PDI. They took 5 mins per side to remove, but I find it incredible that this kind of thing is still happening.

I was happy with my Superb, but it occasionally banged across sharp bumps and had recently developed a clunk at the front. I jacked it up to look and found two blocks on each side.

  8. lol-lol,

Never said but then that is SKY just reporting the 2.8 Million in Germany effected.

    (not affected >snip< vxh26 >snip<)

It will all come out in the wash,

and no worry anyway, or even more no wucckin furries to those that do not have a Volkswagen car,

or even a car, van, lorry etc.

It is "affected". You effect a change and you affect a thing.

  9. Hi, all. I've just ordered a new Superb 2.0TDi SE Business estate in Moon White. I'll be giving up my company car (a 6-year old Pug 407), so delivery can't come soon enough.

I was very impressed when I saw the new Superb in the flesh. I know it won't be the sportiest drive (I have an MX-5 for weekend blasts) but the looks, the space, the finish and the kit are very compelling and I'm sure it'll be a fine family cruiser.

The good towing capacity means it should tow our 1968 Sprite Alpine like a toy, although the fancy folding tow bar was an eye wateringly costly option.

I'm kind of anti-brand, so the modern Skoda concept has always appealed.

    Roll on November/December...
