  1. I know! Where is that damned battery!
  2. Another ring, in the curtains I think, a pin (for the red box) which was on the floor somewhere I think (under cd player or behing bed). Where did you get the battery?
  3. That's what i'm planning to do TaviaRS, if that's OK by everyone who owns the cars. I shall be bringing my helmet and asking ever so nicely for passenger rides in 4x4s with the various chips and performance mods.
  4. 5 units (litres?) of oil for
  5. Ah yes, creating the new dos partition is a reasonably important step, one best not missed out.
  6. Do Skoda put in an engine cleaning additive? I know its part of a Citroen service and #8 is about the right price for this kind of treatment.
  7. its best to do a 'f-disk' before reinstalling, that way it is a totally clean install. Once you've created your boot disk or have established it'll boot from cd, exit (restart) to dos. Type 'fdisk', a list of dos partitions will appear and you need to delete the primary partition. You then need to format the drive using the 'format' DOS command. Once that's all done and dusted, reboot and your boot floppy/CD should start the reinstall process.
  8. In my experience its only any good if you do the majority of your miles on the motorway - it works really well on the motorway. At slower speeds the lack of air means its less effective at 'beading up' and it causes smearing with every sweap of the wiper. It is excellent stuff for side windows and mirrors though, I would buy more just for that purpose alone.
  9. And its now done, fook, thats service for you! The service guy just handed the key to me but said no need to rush, finish what i'm doing on here first! Its Bickerton Skoda in Sheffield by the way, recommended
  10. I've had the Tavia 4x4 for just over a week and i'm very impressed but today is something else. The rear wash has 'popped' a pipe so i came to the dealer this morning. They booked it in there and then for an immediate fix! Impressive but it doesn't finish there. I've helped myself to a hot chocolate (sore throat), played a bit of Star Wars on the N64 and am now using their computer to write this. Free broadband while you wait! I could get used to this.
  11. Good, good. It doesn't feel as though there's anything a-miss, just quite notchy generally. Thought i'd just check. The car's on 16k miles btw so its not brand new. I don't know whether the seats are causing a pain in the back of my right leg (as my Saxo used to) or whether it was that god forsaken cross trainer thingy at the gym last night. Is it common to be hassled by Passat owners then? Three have tailgated/raced to get infront of me in the last 24hrs. Didn't notice this kind of behaviour in the Saxo.
  12. Well, wrote a nice kinda summary post this morning of my inital thoughts but the forum didn't seem to like it much and lost it. Nevermind, suffice to say I pretty chuffed so far, liking it alot. Two questions though, is the gear change generally quite notchy and anyone else find the seats lacking a little in leg support?
  13. I picked the 4x4 up today (sheet ice anyone?), I'm very impressed so far but haven't managed to get too many miles under my belt yet due to work (boo!). I feel it is now time to go out and play though, see you all in a few hundred miles time!!
  14. No, diamond silver, that's if Cahoot ever get off there a^*e and send me some cash. Its going to take two weeks minimum for the cash to come through which they approved immediately on-line, oh, and of course there's the small matter of at least 4 days of interest payable while the money is sent. Funny that, it leaves your account immediately but doesn't arrive on an electonic transfer for 4 days. If I was a more synical person I might be thinking they just sit on the money for 4 days while you pay interest then do a transfer on the 5th day. No wonder there rates are good. :thumbsdow
  15. Hey Rich, are you Jabba'd or any other type of chip? Would be very interested in a passenger ride at some convienient point. Thanks Huck.
  16. Thanks for the replies fellas. Aye yes, remap, that's what got me into this whole mess! My mate just bought a Ibiza Cupra and him being new to the modifiying, owners club etc scene, I thought i'd do a bit of research for him and send him some owners club and tuning links. That's when I found out what a tunable beast the 1.8T is. A bit of thinking about bigger, more practical, more comfortable cars with tuning potential, a 'drop in' to the local dealer and two test drives later, I'm now awaiting collection of my shiney new Octavia. Was the same with the VTS, I only test drove it because the VTR was in for a service and out I came with a new car! Just call me sucker! Jon - Yeah, Becker is the choice of some nice high end cars, saw the H/U on Top Gear once in an Aston Martin. Will break my heart to sell it, its a lovely piece of kit, but I don't think i really want to start messing with the radio on another car, especially as it would mean losing the 6 disc. Still, if the SQ is bad the Becker and MTX stuff may soon find a new home!
  17. A little later than anticipated (can't even get my e-mail address right) but here we go. Appologies for the newbie tediousness. Previous cars of note: Saxo VTR, Saxo VTS. New car (being picked up next week): 03 Octavia Estate 4x4. Age: 26, 27 very soon. Location: South Yorkshire Job: Mechanical Engineer. Mods planned: Just a remap, but probably not for a year or so until I've paid the car off. Hello All. Btw, can I interest anyone in a Magnex exhaust for a 02 VTS? No, some MTX audio then or maybe a Becker Mexico H/U?
