  1. Just bought a car to sell on, the nearsid rear tail light does not work. It has no power, I have ran a temporary live to the side that has no power and it is now working fine but the bulb warming light is still illuminated..? I will be looking for the issue at the weekend I suspect its obviously a broken wire, no blown fuses etc. 1. Why is the bulb warning light still on when I have piggy backed off the working tail light? Is the canbus really that intelligent? 2. Can the 3rd brake light at the top of the boot cause a bulb warning light as that doesn't work I noticed after putting my tools away! Thanks!
  2. Exactly mate. Feel daft i forgot to remove them to be honest while the lights was out but I'll sort it this weekend then. Why do people go to so much hassle for bulbs? They was **** in the dark anyway would of been better with a candle the standards are better!
  3. I'll be honest I forgot to remove them when I fitted the standard headlights as the guy I swapped with swapped them at my house so I put his standards straight in and forgot. I haven't driven the car since I have just started the car and tested the lights work that's it. I will remove the load resistors before I use the lights or car again in that case!
  4. Hi guys. I bought a crash damaged fabia from copart to repair and sell on. Car had projector headlights with HID kit which I sold and got standard headlights in the deal. The car has LED load resistors fitted to obviously stop the bulbs flashing and or the car from thinking it has bulbs blown - LED and HID kits are not really my thing and it does not interest me in the slightest so I have never messed or learned about them! I have fitted standard headlights and bulbs now. Will it be a problem if I leave the load resistors on now it has standard lights and bulbs? Car also had LED rear indicators for some reason which will be removed for standard ones. There is also load resistors in the rear (why go to so much effort for LED indicator bulbs in the rear!!). I am going to remove the load resistors obviously as it doesn't have LED bulbs it's silly to keep them - but I won't get chance as of yet and I have people wanting to test drive the car. Basically I want to know if it's an issue using the car til I get chance to sort that out (I don't want to set us on fire?!)
  5. Really easy it screws into the cup holder then the arm rest holder screws into that and then slots in
  6. So i bought a Fabia VRS MK1 a couple of weeks ago and the engine light was on since i went to view it, i scanned it yesterday and it said glow plug module. I erased the code and all was fine til later that night the light came back on again. Today i looked under the bonnet and found that the glow plug module was unplugged, weird i thought - so i plugged it back in and started the car and it idled at 1,000RPM.. (It has not revved this high on idle since ive owned it) is it normal to idle this high on start up? I unplugged it again and started the car and it idled normally again. I let the car warm up and plugged it back in and it idles fine again so im going to erase the code and see if it comes back. But does your fabia idle at 1k on start up? Thanks!
  7. Thanks guys I'll check your suggestions as it could be that! I really appreciate it! I'll let you know how it goes.
  8. Basically I have bought a fabia vrs that has been in a crash at some point and I am currently in the process of repairing the bodywork as they just threw a new wing on and used the car. The suspension and things have been replaced before my purchase but I can't help but notice that the the driver side front wheel (where the damage occurred) sits further back in the arch than the passenger side. Does yours?.. I measured the driver side and passenger side - from the centre of the rear wheel to the centre of the front wheel and of course the driver side is siting further back than the passenger side. (Can't remember the measurements) Could you possibly take 5 minutes to help me out and measure yours from the centre of the rear wheel to centre of the front on both sides? *Ideally a non-lowered fabia on standard wheels for the fairest results*. If it's lowered please state so I know! Also what would you suggest would be causing the wheel to sit back like this as the suspension components on that side have been changed before I purchased the car. Lastly - is there any camber adjustment on these? I think I may have some slight camber on that wheel also (But his this is not get confirmed to be true I may just be paranoid) *MUCHLY* Appreciated if you do this for me as I don't have anyone near me with one of these cars to measure up on! THANKS!!
  9. Looking at buying an Ibiza pd130, just had head gasket etc, but needs re-timing now with a new cam belt, I tried searching on Google but all I find is 'how to replace timing belt' which is good, but let's say the timing is all over the place, how do I set it all to the correct timing before fitting a new timing belt/tensioners etc, if you know what I mean.. I need to know from the cams onward, as the cams aren't even in yet. Any help appreciated thank you! Never worked like this on a diesel before, only starlet 1.3 turbo's!
  10. Thanks for the replies everyone, he has not been in contact since i told him i never stated in the add it was HPI clear, and he never asked me if it was. I also said we both have Sold as Seen receipts and the logbook is already sent off in his name. I think he gets he has made a mistake now (as did i, but its no longer my mistake) he rang me the same night and said the car isn't boosting, i asked have you been thrashing the arse off it on the motorway to which he replied yes, so i told him to pop the intercooler back on and it will be fine. He must have been the poor girl some for a pipe to pop off i never managed that! So, i dont think i want it back after that anyway haha! The price paid was between £1750 - £1900 (i wont say exactly as i suppose it would be unfair in case he see's this. But personally, i got a good price even though i lost over £300 on the car, and he got it at a good price too, he was happy until he found it was cat D. I will be sure to HPI every car i buy BEFORE i purchase them. Appreciate the replies, and if i hear anything more, ill be back to report! And to the people asking, i did a HPI check myself to make sure he want pulling a fast one with a photoshop and it was indeed a write off, in 2005. But hey, i suppose if i want to be ignorant i can say, at least i sold a cat d for full price.. ... :peek:
  11. Need some advice, last night I sold my 2004 Fabia VRS, 3 people came to look at it together (friends with each other) to help their brother check the car out for him. Anyway, after a test drive, looking around, pointing out bad points and haggling etc, they decided they wanted it. So, we went back to my house, one of them signed the logbook, and a SOLD AS SEEN RECEIPT with the date, name, price, and signature on, we both have a copy. Me the seller, and him the buyer. They paid me in cash. But this morning, he messages me saying its a cat d write off, in 2005. And sent me a screen shot of the HPI check (which I never did when I bought it) I didn't need to, I had no reason to think it was a write off etc the previous buyer clearly didn't know either as I know him. He claims I had to tell him it was a write off, and I didn't state it in my advert, but I didn't know it was. I just had no idea about it. He wants a refund, and threatens he's going to take me to court, as bad as I feel i am not a person who rips people off, but I told him, he looked around the car, went for a test drive, agreed to purchase it and signed the receipt and logbook which I have sent off in his name. As I understand it's the buyers responsibility to check these things and as i had no clue about this, he should have checked before purchase. Where do I stand? My fault or his? As I say, I'm in no way a rip off, I just had never HPI checked the car, it does not say on the logbook it was a write off and my insurance never mentioned it so how was I to know? Thanks for reading the story.. Advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you guys!!
  12. Thanks, i kind of meant if anybody knows the car personally. It had a hybrid turbo, fmic & remap when i got it (so not really standard) so kind of want to know more like what turbo etc..
  13. I am wondering if anyone has any history on my current Fabia VRS. The reg is YR54 EDP. It used to have a reg as VR54 LEX (for Alex..) and I don't have a lot of history on it, so any info would be greatly appreciated! I can't post a pic from my phone which is annoying. But the car is black, and I presume was always standard until I got it.
  14. If your wanting to change your wheel colour to blaxk, grey, anthracite etc here's a little photoshop of the difference. So incase your undecided here's a picture to help! 205/40/16 tyres.
