  1. It's being used as a Private Hire Vehicle, so  protection is needed.

Why? Sit on the seats you have paid for, why protect them for the next owner to enjoy.

Be aware that modern seats with airbags can be a fire risk in an accident if covered with unsuitable material and the last thing you would want is the seat to be on fire while you are sat in the car after a crash.

  2. Having needed to change both my 12v socket fuses, I agree that the manual explanation is pants.

When releasing the two top tabs up so that the box can drop the whole left brake mechanism fell off from it's side retainer :(

After some puzzle work I got it back on to the side mount, align and then twist to lock. The gog wheel also fell out.

I then looked at the arm fitting to the drop down box. It's a push in\out slide type hole.

See my photos. Hope that this helps.

  3. Steering wheel as above fitted and the right scroll wheel works great now.

Next issue that's just started. The left front sensor is intermittently activating when nearing traffic?

I think I'll consider an extended warranty at 3 year old if these are some of the potential electrical issues, three so far.

The stop start also at times can be a pain, where it stops far too early, sometimes even when still rolling up to traffic. OFF BUTTON is now well used and put on if I think I'll be waiting a while.

  4. Picked up my 2016 Superb 2.0 TDi 148bhp SE Business DSG yesterday with 12,075 mile recorded.

Touch screen prior to pickup had a software update to resolve the screen not responding when at freezing temperatures.

Sadly another fault found on the way home, the Maxi-Dot scroll wheel not responding well to select the icons. Calling Skoda in the morning. :(

  5. Hello all, not been on since I sold my last Superb and have now left a holding deposit on a Jan 2016 (65) Superb 2.0 (150) SE Business saloon in silver with a low 12075 mile.

However as the title, prior to my test drive when trying to use the screen myself and the salesperson could not get any of the on screen buttons to work and it would not swipe, only the rotation wheel worked but again you could not select. We drove off and after about 5 minutes the screen eventually came into life. I know now from reports on here that it was the cold and damp causing the issue and due to the heating it works when the temperature increased.

Their cry from them was as it's under warranty, to book it in at Skoda and it will be fixed. I'm a bit long in the tooth now and told them for me to pay the balance it will have to be resolved as I had no intentions of initially spending time visiting Skoda dealerships in my own time to resolve that issue.

Sadly it also has a weird issue with the drivers sun visor. Adjacent to the mirror where the ticket holder is the material has been melted! At least it's hidden when the visor is up. Again they said it would be under warranty! Yea, someone has used the visor when closed to hold a device where the battery has got hot. They said that they will try and replace it? I personally hate it when car dealerships spin the sale with blatant untruths to get their final sale.

It's a beautiful car but with a couple of issues that hopefully they will resolve as soon as possible, otherwise I'll ask for my deposit back and keep on looking for another.

  6. There isn't an issue with water ingress under the carpets in the mkII, That was with the mkI. Do the lights come on when you open doors other than the drivers?

No roof lights come on when opening any door but the footwell lights work and the boot works ok on opening.

  7. Apart from the under carpet harness water ingress major issue, has anyone had this problem where only the interior light door entry does not work?

The roof switch is in the central rocker position.

All the interior roof lights come on when the switch is moved to the bulb forward position.

My current manual method. Prior to exit if I turn the interior lights on, then exit, they turn off when I lock the doors. On opening the doors the interior lights come on, but as expected stay on, where I then move the switch to the central position.

I must admit I have not physically looked at any fuses, from what I can see from the manual there does not seem to be just a specific fuse for just the interior lights and as they actually turn on I'm assuming it's not a fuse?

    Ideas welcome.

  8. Thanks @Wile7. I have my hard copy and this digital manual. I'm happy with the light switch control (well apart from the central 'door contact' is has no physical markings on the switch, just a 0 for Off and a light symbol for On). It was more to do with a physical door contact switch, like a plunger but non can be found, so what type of contact switch are the doors using to turn on the interior lights? I'm hoping to find an easy solution as to why the roof lights will not turn on when the door is opened and off when closed.

  9. I may have a couple of issues inherent to this MK II model.

The left rear tail light warning is shown intermittently as shown by the MFD.

The door opening interior roof lights when the switch is in the middle position are not coming on but they work when switched on. All the other lights work. I have read this can be a known issue with water ingress under the carpets via the pollen filter? Is this the only cause of these not working, seems strange that all the other lights are working. Out of interest how does the door interior light switching work?

  10. Hello to all members. I'm a first time Skoda owner and have just bought a Superb II SE 2.0, 140 saloon in silver with 85k. FSH and has had a recent belt and water pump kit.

It drives well with a good indicated mpg. However I may have a couple of issues inherent to this model.
