Anyone come across buzzing from dashboard. As I've got the airbag out thought I'd see if I can sort it But can't locate the sound, where it's from? It only happens for a short while when ignition turned on and the buzzing stops after engine running for about 20 seconds. Sometimes it just comes back on again whilst driving

Removal of Airbag Passenger Side
Johnmarsh replied to Johnmarsh's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Have managed to sort it now Thanks -
I'm changing blower/resistor on my Roomster and have to remove the airbag. I've undone the 3 screws securing the airbag but can't get the plastic top off covering the airbag. Have tried prizing the plastic up with screwdriver but it wont come up and dont want to damage it. Any ideas on how to best get this airbag and its cover off? Thanks

Hi Ken, I mean the steering wheel bolt that secures the steering wheel. I put put spline bolt because I notice that term being used before but maybe it's incorrect. Also from what I see online it looks like a torx screw/ bolt. But I didn't know the size of it which is why Is have to go and buy a socket to fit my wrench that will have that correct type to fit that torx type screw bolt securing the steering wheel. Hopefully that's a bit clearer. And thanks for link Wino

Before I take airbag unit off steering wheel would be good to know what socket size is needed for spline Bolt. Then I'll go and buy one. I saw online someone repairing a stalk switch so I might dismantle that and if repairable save a bit of money. Looks like it may come apart with screws holding it together, unless anyone knows other wise, please let me know. I tried spraying contact cleaner into crevice but to no avail. It's a Roomster 2012 TSI 105, guess spline bolts gonna be same on most models? Cheers John

Relay location Headlamps /Wiring Info
Johnmarsh replied to Johnmarsh's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Hi thanks. Dipped lamps are separate from high beam lamps, so not twin filament. -
Does anyone know where,if, relay for main beam on Roomster 2012 TSI might be? I don't know if there are relays in this model or if it's done via SSE in computer. All lights work including flash high beam but main high beam doesn't work when stitched from dipped to high. So lamps are good and all else but for high beam. Wish I had a wiring circuit I could look at!!! If anyone one knows anything about wiring, relays etc that would be most helpful as that could be checked before expense of trying new stalk switch which I'll get garage to do. Any ideas much appreciated John

Hi, Have managed to remove cowling via screw but wondering how easy or difficult it is to swap old stalk switch with new/ second hand. Didn't need to take off steering wheel, and have access to switch on Roomster 2012. If it's not too tricky I might get used part breakers and swap myself but if it's not an easy job I'll get my local VW guys to do it. I'm electrically competent but more unsure of difficult of disassembly on the mechanical side. Also anyone recommend where to buy new part with reasonable price ? Thanks

sprayed some contact cleaner into switch but made no difference. To get plastic cover surrounding switches do I need to take off steering wheel? If I do need take of steering wheel is there any videos out there re roomster stalk switch replacement and removal of steering wheel? I've taken a steering wheel of an older car before but bit more cautious as it has an ait bag. Any links or help here would be great Thanks

Hi, ok, trying to find out how to remove the plastic cover where all the switched are?
-
Hi, Not failed due to headlamp main beam not working. The ordinary beam is working fine but when I come to use switch to main beam it doesn't work switched in continuous mode but it does work when I pull switch back towards me when I'm holding it in position. Wonder if it's just the switch or if it's some control box? I do have electric background so might have a go. Any ideas or help here appreciated

Ok, finally got coil from Europarts and thanks for mentioning the price match as they did Match Carparts4less at about £55 for Bosch which I decided to go for.... was going to let garage sort but last minute decision this morning to go up and buy it!!! Anyway, have fitted it now, and crikey, it's easier than fitting the HT leads!! on plugs.... So, results so far on test run: put foot hard down several times, and blow me socks off, not a single judder! okay, I'm not going to get too excited yet as this has been slightly intermittent too so will have to see now how it goes when i go onto town tomorrow and back and thoroughly test it! But at least i thought if was taking it in tomorrow to garage then if I had changed the coil but still doing same thing they could then eliminate coil rather than waiting for them to order and try etc!!!! But I've changed it now anyway! If it goes well tomorrow morning without any hesitation I'll still take it to garage just in case I need any fault codes removed if any came up, as he wasn't going to charge for looking at it again anyway. It was also interesting to note that there are two coils in the 'coil' and that one can fail! So thanks for that bit of info too. I've been looking up all kinds of info on this and trying to find out how the ignition system works and have learnt a little on the way. I guess I'm more wary of touching modern cars with computers or ecu's but in the old days I had no problem in finding electrical faults on distributor/ignition and HT side of things. Anyway, this has given me a bit more confidence with my car at least at this simple level. I guess garages that aren't that savvy on the diagnostics side (which must be quite specialist) end up changing parts in process of elimination anyhow (though perhaps the more experienced ones have that ability to hear, feel, etc what is going on with engine to find faults). Well, gonna keep my fingers crossed now and hope it stays good and will let you all know what happens in next couple of days.... and thanks guys for all your help, including last minute ones coming in on this!!!
