  1. One thing not mentioned. I noticed a droning on occasions. Then I realised that when it happened to eco symbol was on the dash. Turned out it was just a different exhaust sound when it was running in 2 cylinder mode.
  2. I use Google maps and display since start fuel consumption on the virtual dash. When I make a change to google maps, the virtual dash changes to the view shown in the photo. To get it back to how I want it, I have to press the bottom left button on the right side of the steering wheel and scroll up to reset. There may be the opportunity using the scroll to set it to how you want it.
  3. My car is the 71 reg Karoq. I bought the car new and paid for the 2 year extension to the Manufacturer's Warranty, so all under one warranty. The fact that I paid for the extension and somehow, between Skoda and the dealer, they failed to implement it is another story. Still under warranty until end of October.
  4. After 8 visits to the dealer my SOS system seems to be working fine. For a recap, it had 3 new aerials, at last one software update, and finally was solved by replacing a long cable whch runs (I'm told) from under the rear bumper to somewhere in the front of the car. All done with no charge under warranty. I visited a friend yesterday who has a 20 registered Audi A4 and he told me he has this problem on his car. He remembered I had told him of the issue. He told me that he had looked on an Audi forum, and someone said it needed a software update, and it would cost £2000, so he is just putting up with the problem. I had that done free, so I just wanted to ask if anyone had had a software update from Skoda and had to pay for it, and how much it costs. Of course, with my experience I know that it may not solve the issue, but if the actual cost is more reasonable, it coud be the solution.
  5. If there are no signs, there are default limits. Street lights, 30mph (Wales, 20mph). No street lights, National Speed limit, 60mph, 70mph on dual carriagways. Anything else should have repeater signs, but they are sometimes a fair distance apart. All changes of limit should have signs, usually on both sides of the road but not always. It is your responsibility to understand the speed limits, the satnav or the speed recognition system being wrong will be no defence.
  6. This seems to intimate that the VW ACC is different to the Skoda, Audi and Seat versions. And there is nothing to say that, for instance, all of the Skoda systems are identical over the years fitted. For instance, on my Karoq, you can switch off lane assist permanently, but I don't think you can on newer cars. And on my Skoda, if you have lane assist on, it doesn't keep you in the middle of the lane, it just whinges at you if you stray too close to the cenre line (almost impossible to avoid on some roads where I live), and telling me to 'keep to the centre of the lane'.
  7. There have been several conversations on this topic. The concensus is that Panasonic is a good choice. I always use them. Others may work, but they may not. I always keep a Panasonic in the car and another in my wallet just in case. My daughter has a Captur and that wouldn't work until I used a Panasonic.
  8. I had a hire 3 cylinder T-Roc in Germany. It must have been the higher power version as it was 6 speed. I couldn't really feel any difference to my 1.5 TSi Karoq. And I had a 3 cylinder Kamiq 6 speed as a loan car, and that was fine.
  9. There are limitations on how accurate a satnav is, as has been said. Some of this is down to the technology and some down to its failure to be properly updated. My worry is not where we are but what happens in the fuure. Self driving cars which drive at the speed limit rather than a comfortable speed (I will not drive my car with ACC engaged at it drves at the speed limit and goes far too fast round bends, and has anyone else seen the Tesla drive into a freight train in America) and so many vehicles here that claim to be limited to the local limit, but are actually limited to what the system thinks the limit is. It could be really frustrating and potentially dangerous for a vehicle which is limited in a 20 limit if it passes into a 60 limit without responding correctly.
  10. Is it fitted to VWs and Audis as they have plenty in the USA? May not be fitted to USA exports though..
  11. I gave up using Adaptie Cruise, simply because it would drive the car like a maniac, driving at the speed limit rather than a comfortable speed, charging at bends, braking sharply. It frightened me as a driver, I dread to think what would happen if I used it if my wife was a passenger.
  12. Google maps tends to be better, but it still has lags when limits have changed and Google hasn't updated. It is frustrating when Google has one limit, you car shows a different limit, and you know from the road signage that they are both wrong.
  13. All of those errors are, as you say, linked to a fault in the ABS system. If it doesn't clear, you will probably have to read or have the codes read and go from there.
  14. My 71 reg 1.5 manual does suffer from kangarooing BUT it is only from a cold start and it is only for the first 100 metres up to the t-junction at the end of my close. After that it is no issue.
