  1. Its all cool and working fine and looking good with the cap and all...new and shiney. No one needs to know okay! Anyway I fitted a new panel filter, did throttle body clean and rear wiper it all by myself not bad for a super novice...MR FILTER.
  2. Just ordered the Powerflex one from Ebay DPM Performance...after reading the other topic on this...My mechanic friend will be fitting this (do not want to kill my car or myself after my rear wiper arm escapades!). Here are my questions: [1] Easy job for a bog standard mechanic? [2] Does it need specific torque settings:? [3] Got link to a printable diagram? Any other hints or tips. Thinking of ARB as well...could I do that or am I getting too 'confident/stupid'? Thanks to all Aaquil
  3. I tell you I know it sounds sad but that was a real achievement for me!
  4. The story so far...got the puller delivered today. Right ready for action? Not! damn thing would ot come off. So got my trusted junior hacksaw blade cut off the plastic part of the wiper arm to expose the metal ring that goes over the spindle then carefully cut right through the ring and finally pulled off the ring off the spindle...pure relief!!! Fitted on Skoda wiper arm, blade and cap. Put a thin coating around spindle and thread. All fitted nicely and working good. If you have lost your cap off your wiper (rear one) check it out before it gets rusted on. It is not good fun getting the damn thing off!
  5. As above...Halfrauds do not sell 'Millers' and I have heard that is quite good...Do they help as a one off or should you may someone to take out injectors and give 'em a really good clean. Would this help to improve drive and performance?
  6. Just completed the job today as per excellent guide...all refitted and car and driver in one piece! Waiting on quickshift and dump valve now...
  7. Sivrs...just ordered dump valve thank you for the link.
  8. What size hose clamps please... Thanks a lot for the link will order one today.
  9. Right so Compbrake best one to go for i terms of reliability and cost? Where do I buy one from?
  10. Can you share it with me as well...I like in Manchester...thanks.
  11. Thanks for the advice will order a FORGE...
  12. Yes no doubt...'a mans gotta know his limitations...'
  13. Thanks for the advice...I think I may go for a FORGE...are Compbrake well know....is adjusting these dump valves straightforward.... Does the FORGE need servicing?
  14. Most of the posts show people for BAILEY DV30 or the FORGE...so FORGE is better?
  15. Rob It defo looks like that no parking on the top part but same shape and similar corroded surface...
  16. Okay have done some searching and it seems most people suggest for remap - AWESOME GTI (1.8T Octavia 4X4 2002) that a uprated dump valve is needed. Bailey or Forge. I think I will go for the BAILEY one...a couple of questions (here he goes again!!!): [1] Do I have to adjust the dump valve at all? If so how? [2] Where to order from? Item number and link would be great...I'm not lazy just fear knowing me I will order the wrong one! [3] How to fit? Mentions somewhere to get jubilee clips...what size? [4] If and when done how do I know if all is okay? Please bear in mind this is a complete novice asking...thanks to all in advance.
  17. Oh no!!! That's why I try to stick to dead easy stuff...I was going to fit the driver side window regulator and motor myself using my new shiney 'Halfrauds' socket set. I then got the second hand parts from a seller hear who is 'breaking' his VRS. Needless to say saw all the rods and wires attached and lost my bottle. My mechanic friend in Rochdale will be kindly be fitting it for me!
  18. I think I will wait for the puller before impatience gets me into trouble!
  19. No not yet...I am thinking of taking a pic letting you experienced guys have a look make sure it is actually standard before I make a fool of myself. I might just phone if it was not fitted or should I write a letter?
  20. Got the gasket today which way does the 'rough' surface go as no markings to tell you on it! Anything else to do in that 'area' while it is all off/detached?
  21. Visited 'EVENT TYRES' Old Trafford, Manchester this Thursday just gone. The tracking needed doing...checked the tyres front two were worn down to the wear 'indicators' and the back two were not brilliant either. Went to office to get some quotes on new set: [1] Toyo Proxes T1-R - £270 [2] Goodyear Eagle F1's GSD3 (Old ones) - £290 [3] Goodyear Eagle F1's Asymmetric - Just over £300 [4] Neros and Rosso - around £330 mark. By the way 205/55 16's The guy stated that Toyos we really grippy but wear quick as softer compound...I have always used Eagle F1's so I thought I would try the Toyos. All three fitted, balanced and tracking done for £290. They mentioned to pop in next wqeek to ensure that tracking was fine. First impressions, solid more planted feel...have not pushed them yet will let you know after letting them bed in a bit. He mentioned that AVONS are quite good these days...I always thought they were naff? Got my gasket for throttle body will get on with that as soon as the weather gets a little better
