  1. Good to know that it settles a bit - I am going to add some Dodo Sound deadening in the boot and under the rear seat and footwells this weekend too - just to help it a little more, because the exhaust sounds great! Re: rubber hanger, I did with mine - picked up a universal one from EuroCarParts: Rubber Hanger
  2. Heard good things about BCS - although i believe the system for the Octavia is turbo back only, then you need Stage 2 i believe, which im not interested in going to anyway - we also have an Up! GTI in the household and a few on the Up! forum have had the BCS fitted with its drone eliminator system and they report its superb, even at 70 in a little car.
  3. I find it ok, although the wife hasn't been in it yet lol. And at 70-75 with the cruise on it was not droning - overall im happy - good to know others have similar experience, i'll start a bit of work on just helping to reduce the frequencies into the cabin a bit more i think next. I can't imagine the non-res systems - i must be getting to old for those!
  4. ...are you finding much resonance in the cabin? I've just had mine fitted today and whilst it sounds much better without being offensive, i am finding that i'm getting some (good lol) vibrations through the seat, nothing that would scream to you 'i can't live with this' but would be nice to try and reduce it. I had it fitted by my local VAG specialist who took his time over the fitting and did his best to make sure nothing was touching the chassis or the tailpipes - I'm wondering if it will settle down a bit...? I was looking at adding some additional sound deadening to the boot and rear seat anyway so that may help in time.
  5. Hi all, thought id share details regarding some engine mods I managed to pick up through eBay today. I got the Forge inlet pipe and the Forge turbo muffler delete for £270, if you buy these you get a 10% multi buy and then if you find the right supplier for the Muffler delete there is a code 'PANORAMA' which gives another 20% off too. Mine have come from WG Motorparts. Keeping an eye out a few weeks ago I also got myself a Resonated Scorpion cat back system for £665. Forge Inlet Pipe Muffler Delete
  6. My 2016 vRS 220Tsi was serviced only Friday by my local VAG specialist - someone I've used a trusted for years when the car is out of warranty. As im fixed service every 12 months he used 5W40 in mine (VW502.00)
  7. In the past I've been on forums where sometimes offers are secured on larger more expensive items through the forum on the basis that there is enough interest from 30+ members. I got a Milltek system for my Mk5 Golf GTI at a very good price through such an offer in the past on another forum. I was wondering if anything like this has been considered on this forum? A specialist supplier Im sure could offer a good price on something like an exhaust if they knew they would be shifting 30+ of them. A lot of mainstream stainless steel systems are still easily £700+ but getting say 20-25% off this through a group buy would probably get some good interest.
  8. Anyone had trouble with steering wheel alignment after swopping wheels around? Put my set of 17" Golf GTI alloys on with winter tyres and the steering wheel now sits ever so slightly to the left.
  9. Im glad this has been mentioned. I was going to ask the same, in particular the power delivery / traction control. I fitted my winter tyres last weekend, set the speed rating on the infotainment system and after a few drives the delivery of power was noticably different, it felt less aggressive, even in sport mode. Now it could be a number of things, the wheels are a smaller size and probably the tyres doing what they need to do, gripping better in colder conditions i guess! I felt I had to push the car harder to enable the TC though. Its seems now too the different tyres / wheels are giving me a slight steering wheel mis-alignment...
  10. I would still look at other VAG options firstly, I understand the vehicles so well now after 11 years of owning them. Only one option stopped me getting a Golf R Estate or the Seat Leon ST Cupra 290 - sounds crazy but the removable towbar, a non option for either vehicle. It is brilliant on my Octy petrol and became a deal breaker due to the amount of time I lug bicycles around and use a trailer.
  11. I came from a Mk5 Golf GTI to my Octavia vRS Estate, you can have a bit of fun in the Octavia but i personally find (probably due to the long wheel base on the Skoda) that the Golf was far better in terms of pressing on around twisty roads.
  12. Definitely a petrol model, purely based on your mileage. I've always been a petrol person, simply because i prefer the way they drive with the engine revving more freely and also feeling smoother, like yourself I only do about 7-8k per year. Not sure I agree with the comments about road noise, whilst yes not Rolls Royce quiet I don't think its that bad. Tho I did come from a Mk5 Golf GTI so my vRS estate is noticeably different in noise levels (quieter). You'll find you can't quite throw it around as much as your Fabia, I recently chased my brother down round some B roads in his Honda S2000 and whilst yes I was never going to worry him, the big ole' estate did a fine job of keeping him in sight.
  13. Nope, i tried, they are a smaller size. I need circa 65mm size caps.
  14. I know, a test run proved no issues, i'll check it frequently i think.
  15. Hi folks, those that were interested, I have managed to sort out and fit the 17" Mk5 Golf GTI wheels to my vRS. I have attached some pics, they go on, just! Just enough clearance between the wheel weight and the calliper. I just need some centre caps now to finish off.
