  1. I was there when he took it out. My mechanic is also my neighbour. the cr170 is gear driven but still has a hex key. I replaced with a longer hardened hex key from a german company. I had all of the old parts but don't hold onto them as i swapped them out for new.
  2. I lost it for a while!! Like nearly a year but found the key while cleaning out a toolbox. It has a nice but if wear on one edge, for the sake of an extra hundred quid it's definitely worth doing. My last audi I a6 cost me nearly 3 thousand because the key had worn out!!
  3. So I was cleaning out my toolbox and look what I found. The worn hex key. Small amount of play and you can see the Burr on one side of the key. I know this was ages ago but when. I found it I knew people needed to see it
  4. yep that was me, i was looking high and low for the old hex key, it was worn on one edge of each of the six sides. Enough for me to feel much happier having replaced it. when the key was in the old pump there was a bit of play between the two. If you are getting a timing belt done anytime soon I would 100% get the oil pump and hex key done with it
  5. So I got the timing belt, water pump, oil pump and hex key done by my mechanic. The lengthened hex key had a begun to wear fairly noticeably. I need to upload the pictures here, I'm glad I did the pump and the key as there was significant play between them.
  6. Getting my timing belt and water pump done in a weeks time. In my previous car (Audi a6) i had a huge oil pump failure. To avoid this problem I'm getting the oil pump done as well as the belt done. I'm trying to figure out if my car has a gear driven oil pump or a hex key style drive. Its a 2012 2.0 t.d.i 170bhp estate. If anyone had part numbers for the oil pump that would be great. Thanks
  7. yeah I found the fuse panel but there's nothing for the torch, any other ideas?
  8. replacement batteries are rechargeable, had a look in the drivers door for a fuse but can't find a dead one, is there a fuse box in the boot somewhere? just saw your signature, hows your superb doing after the remap, any issues?
  9. Hi all, I have an led boot torch in my 2012 superb combi. I changed the batteries and the torch will light up when you press the button. however it never lights up when it is in the holder in the boot and when you open the boot door. I checked with a multimeter to see if the charging dock for the torch is getting any power. The dock isn't getting any power, is it a separate fuse somewhere or must i start dismantling the boot?!! I don't think its the torch as it works with fresh batteries, any ideas what I should do? I know its not the best torch in the world but it bothering me that its the only thing not functioning in the car!
  10. I have the exact same issue, his did you get it sorted?
  11. While searching how to do this I stumbled upon this thread from boards.IE http://touch.boards.ie/thread/2055982808 They are probably very similar
  12. Hi all, so I need to change my discs and pads for my 2012 estate elegance, the front disc is definitely 312mm but the back ones are so rusty I'm finding it hard to measure accurately. Are they 282mm or 286mm?
  13. Quick question, if i change the country to europe will i get the large kph display on the maxidot? and will it change my headlights to point in the wrong direction? I'm in ireland, 2012 elegance estate
