  1. As per my first message. The guy said they were destined for germany. The price is now 19999. With my px they have come up with the sum of 16300. That's with a third year warranty as these only come with two he said. Been to see one in the flesh both look very nice. In rallye green and the black.

What would you guys do if you were in my position. Worth a punt or stay away? What you reckon the insurance would say? As it's an import?

    Thanks guys.

  2. Hi guys. That's some food for thought. I think I'll give them a call and ask them for definite spec and how the warranty works etc to get a better picture. To me they seem a steal at that price as some used ones are popping up at that price on auto trader.

    Cheers.

  3. I thought the same, but due to the huge amount of spec I couldnt find a pre-registered with enough of what I wanted. There was one with a dealer which had most of what I wanted but was only £800 less than what I paid for a new one!

Drop Terry a line and see what he comes back with. :)

Yeah that's true when you put it like that. Yeah I'll drop him a line. See what he can come up with. Cheers again for your time and input.

  4. No probs mate. I specced the car up fully - over 8k of extras on it and it was ordered accordingly with no issues or queries whatsoever. Correspondence was okay, it wasnt like it is when buying from a dealer - in so much as I didnt have the seemingly weekly updates some mention however I emailed him a few times during the period from order to delivery and he replied with any information he had/I needed.

As I said, it was a very painless and easy experience. Made the enquiry with my spec/requirements, had the quote back the following day with all the delivery details etc, then phoned Terry to go through it all, paid the deposit, car was ordered & then delivered to my door within the time frame I'd been given.

Sounds like a good enough service to me. I'm still in the process of debating weather or not to go this route or have one that's been made this year and only a couple of miles on the clock. My heart is now set on a 230 jist because of a few of the differences you get with it. Been looking on auto trader can get a 230 for the price of some new 220s with similar milage on them. If that makes any sense. Sound. Lol. Thanks again

  5. Had mine via this broker: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Octavia-vRS-hatch-estate-car-deals-contracts-from-190-VAT-pm-/182093981675?hash=item2a65a5a7eb:g:YNgAAOSwNSxU20Ss,

Was a totally painless experience & saved me £6776 delivered to my door on a truck, 4 miles on the clock! The car came from Simpsons Skoda in Preston so was a full UK car with UK warranty, etc.

Sorry to dig up and old thread. We're you able to select spec on the model using this method? What was the correspondence like with them?

    Thanks.

  6. I forget what was missing now but they seemed genuine enough and didn't hide the fact it was an import.

Yeah i get you. I've just found another thread on where someone else has noticed these at motorpoint. Seems the leather seats arnt heated which is minor to some but to me it's part and parcel of the leather package. Might just be me being picky. But you know what you want when forking out some dosh for a car. Criteria I guess. Again thanks for the input sir.

  7. I had a look at a vrs in Peterborough.

Brand new but it was an import so had a slightly different spec.

It was a few k cheaper and they claimed the warranty was valid

Nice one mate. Nice to have heard you've see one in the metal. The differing spec from UK models does put me off somewhat. I might jist wait it out until something grabs my attention.

  8. Think the brand new vRS's they've got are imports, but it should say when you click on the individual car details on their website.

So likely to have 2 year rather than 3 year warranty and may be some spec. discrepancies. Also, not sure how helpful U.K. dealers will be if you have any warranty issues ? - but guess that's down to your individual dealer.

I bought a used Astra then Insignia off them a few years ago, most of their used cars are ex fleet/hire/demos. The Newport dealer was pretty friendly and let you look around/try cars without pressurising you.

Okay mate appreciate that. I'll give them a bell and see what they say. I'm thinking it might be worth just buying a UK (non Cypriot import) which may have miles on just so I get the 3 years warranty.

I'll keep an eye out for a newish one with few miles on.

    Thanks

  9. Just lowered bruv innit........

(actually, OEM suspension but just went to Wickes and needed to get about 5 bags of 25kg sand, and added 5 bags of 20mm gravel so probably about 200kees in the boot lol, not account for the 200L of compost too haha)

Just as well it was only a minute down the road !

Looks boss that. Should get it lowered man.

  10. I've read somewhere of another similar starter issue which was fixed via software. Mine just spins, it's not engaged, so is not particularly serious. The rust has been sorted and is hopefully just a one-off. The dealership staff are nice enough and I've no concerns over service, but they do seem at the mercy of Skoda UK. I'd never trust any 'approved' or multi-point checks - they're all too fallible and I've seen it too many times. Take the car you're looking at at face value, scrutinise it, have it inspected/HPI'd and don't accept anything that doesn't seem right, just walk away. Caveat emptor.

    Gaz

That seems some sound advice. Do you have manual or dsg? Appreciate your input and time.

  11. Problems: Front door seals retaining water, starter motor still spins for a couple of seconds after start up (dealer 'unable to replicate'), sound activator causes a resonation/vibration somewhere inside the dash (dealer 'unable to replicate'), OSF suspension creak on extension (dealer 'unable to replicate'), rust on the rear tailgate, latch on overhead sunglasses holder failed.

I really like it as a car. Meets what I wanted and expected. It's good to drive - I'll have it mapped after the warranty expires. Happy to keep it, although very tempted with changing to a Golf R.

    Estate - lines are better.

Dealership have been fine, all told. More than I can say for Skoda UK [emoji107]

The six speed wet DSG is a peach IMO and has been faultless.

    Gaz

Is the starter motor thing a common thing? As with the rust surely that'll be rectified by the dealer? Have the dealer offered a good service? Would you also recommend buying a skoda used approved? Or is it all a load bs? Cheers

The DSG box is sweet but I don't think it justifys the extra cost. Think it also suits the petrol better than the diesel.

Have you tried the DGS, try and get a test drive, perhaps not in a Vrs but it might give you an Idea.

Go for a 230 if you can the extra spec for the cost is a no brainer and you get the fancy diff

I've tried dsg many moons ago in a friends gold gti. Though only in auto mode not the manual mode (paddles)

  12. My new 230 , when it arrives, will be my 4th Octavia Vrs. I've had a Petrol DSG, my current one is a MKIII Tdi but the 230 will be a Manual Tsi

    Can't wait

Nice one mate. How do you rate the dsg box? The reasons that I want dsg is that I do alot of town driving and also fancied a change from manual. Thanks.

  13. Hi all hope your well.

Basically the octavia has recently grabbed my attention especially being in the vrs guise. I have a budget of circa 24k after part ex.need a bigger car as the family is growing.

Would be looking at a tsi dsg would prefer a 230 though would happily settle for a 220 both would be a massive power increase from my current car (mazda 3 1.6 sport nav). So the few questions I have are...

What problems have you encountered with your tsi vrs?

How do you rate it? Does it meet your expectations.?

Estate or hatch? I know this is personal taste.

How have skoda dealerships dealt with you?

    Appreciate your time and input.
