    My reply to SteveJP.

    Welcome ‘old fart’.

Yes, what you said makes most sense.

But let’s not loose sight of the origins of this thread.

This thread grew out of the uncertainty of what Instrument setup Skoda were putting into (or intended to introduce) into new Citigos.

This was further expanded when a contributor (can’t remember who, may have been Jonny118118, although not certain), said they had ordered a new Citigo SE (or SE L) from the factory, the Showroom Salesman said it would come with 3 Instruments, BUT, when the Salesman phoned Skoda UK, they said ‘All new Skodas will in the future have one (1) Instument UNLESS the Maxi-Dot Display is ordered.

I started this binnacle query. To sumarise, the brochures for Oct 17 and Jan 18 show 2 binnacles. An S level single dial and the 3 dial maxi dot display. NOT the 3 complete separate dials that my current SEL has. Same with the online configurator except that the single dial has white on black led instead of my black on green lcd.

Many cars arriving with 2017 build weeks have the 3 separate dial binnacle. When i phoned Skoda UK they said my car, SEL, would ship with single dial despite the brochure saying SE and above get rev counter and fuel guage. The car is build week 7 so should arrive in March. As others have said, it seems as though upgrades/ changes are gradual and dependant on stocks. I would like to hear from an owner of a 2018 build Citigo to see what the dash looks like.

Hi SimonAudi, and hope that this Post isn't too late to be of assistance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I take delivery of a new SE-L later this week.    I opted for the 60PS, rather than the SE-L 75PS that I have at the moment, as the extra horses (IMHO) don't make one iota of difference.    I had a cursory look at the new car - I say "cursory" because it was piddling

So, I take delivery later this week, & will perhaps take a more in-depth look at it when I arrive chez nous.  But IMHO, a Citigo is a Citigo is a Citigo - cracking little cars, & I must state that my current one didn't put a foot (or even 30cms) wrong in the 2 1/2 years that I had it.

    Watch this space...............................

Following on from another strand i would be really interested to know if you get the 3 dial dash with fuel guage and rev counter as per brochure or the single dial which Skoda UK say comes with all trim levels without spec'ed trip computer (as now shown on the configurator). My SE L is build week 7 so should see it in March.

Will the dial look like this?

I could well be wrong, but it looks as if the single dial itself has had a bit of an upgrade to push it out across the range. SE and above get the chrome trim, but from searching the net it seems that the green backlit lcd has been replaced with an easier to read white led display. In any case, the point i made earlier in the thread holds true; i have ordered a brand new car and no one knows exactly what will arrive, least of all me. Not good enough.

But it specifically say in the brochure 'From SE upwards dials also feature a rev counter and fuel gauge'.As per usual the dealers do not know what they are talking about!.

I said this to the dealer who pointed me to the get-out clause on the back of the brochure.

To be specific, the dealership think it comes with 3 dials (SE L).

The configurator shows it with one, unless optional trip computer is spec'd.

I phoned Skoda UK who said they would enquire with the production plant. A week later i get a call " Your car will ship with single dial"

Told dealership who think Skoda Uk are wrong.

Should get the car in a month or so.  Will let you know what it looks like (probably 4 dials and SEAT written on the steering wheel!)

Sorry @scr64 I should stop mentioning Maxi-Dot. It’ll just make you more angry at your dealer!

I will be meeting with dealer on Thursday. Not their fault tbh, but I will be voicing my displeasure and contacting Skoda UK. No big deal in the grand scheme of things, but just a basic expectation that if you have the luxury of spec'ing and ordering a brand new car, there should be a reasonable chance of it arriving with the trim and colour you ordered! Not too much to ask.

What trim did you order? All 67 plates (above trim level ‘S’) on autotrader have 3 instrument binnacles.

Ordered SE L Greentech to replace similar. I too checked new cars on autotrader and saw the same. My old style 3 dial cluster  is not in the brochure (aug 17 or jan 18) and does not appear on the configurator, hence my inquiry. Would make sense to have 2 not three binnacles. Perhaps clearing old stock for build year 17.

Anyway, that's the word from the factory. I'll see what arrives.

  7. Update:

Customer services raised a query with the factory and got back to me today. All Citigos whatever trim level now ship with a single dial instrument binnacle unless maxidot is specified. Despite the clear statement in the brochure (p6) that all trims above S get rev counter and fuel guage. (They pointed me to the small print get out clause at the back). So my new car will look more basic than the "identical"  15 plate it replaces. Rather takes the shine off a new car. Build is confirmed so cannot change it.

Does any one know how the single dial shows fuel? There does seem to be an upgrade from the awful green backlit LCD window. Does it show fuel as a bar? Please don't say I just wait for the low fuel light. I know it's  a cheap car but....!

  8. Possibly, but....

I've already specified close to £1000 of extras on a budget 2nd car and another £230 for what i thought i was already getting seems a step too far. I don't dislike the current 3 dial binnacle in my Citigo and have no use for the trip computer, so I'll  let it go. My main point was that the intricacies of the options are not clear from the brochure, not clear on the configurator and not understood by dealers. Essentially you are not absolutely sure what you're getting until it arrives. This should not be the case.

  9. Incidentally, re previous comment, the updated car configurator only shows a 3 dial binnacle if maxi dot is specified. Otherwise it's  single dial regardless of trim level.

Hope that's not the case or it's  a step down from my current 15 plate Elegance

  10. This is a disappointment. I have a SE L Greentech on order (build week 8) and assumed it would have the new style binnacle. Nowhere in the brochure are 3 binnacles mentioned or shown, just the single dial for the S and what i now know is the maxi-dot 3-dial. I know brochure pics and review cars are fully loaded, but there is an issue with Skoda's descriptions of their options. I didn't spec maxi dot because i thought it expensive for a basic trip computer, not realising it was a different binnacle. Likewise i did spec dynamic trim expecting different cloth and gloss dash insert. I now see on here that privacy glass and sport steering wheel may be in the package. Dealers are less aware than buyers who resesrch the net.

  11. Thanks Jonny, but that's the issue. Nice looks, but my current Elegance is choppy enough on 15ins and the roads here are not good. Does anyone out there have experience of the ride quality with 16s (maybe an after market upgrade), vs 15s?

  12. Hi

Need some advice. I am about to order a new Citigo SE L  (to replace current one), and to take advantage of the deals around before the new year. I am tempted to spec the Serpens 16 inch alloys because I like the look of them. Does anyone know how they will affect the ride? Austerity roads are the worst i've ever seen and i don't want to turn the car into a spine-breaker. Should I just get DAB radio instead?

  13. Just coming to the end of a PCP on a Citigo SE L. Really happy with it and am looking to replace like for like. Options: do the 16" wheels affect ride at all? Is the Dynamic interior upgrade worth it? Quoted £390 for Life shine (would anyone pay that- I won't), but seen it offered by detailers for half that. Is it better than I can do with £50 of Autoglym wax? Last Question; dealer is offering £1000 towards deposit and 2.9% APR. Are there better deals out there? He says rate rise and price rise coming in new year, but then he would. Thanks for any thoughts/ observations.

  14. Thanks both.

Got the car last May so she hasn't noticed over the summer and then confused it with the Scirocco we replaced.

Other than that, the stupid rear wash and a few dashboard rattles (which drive me up the wall!), it's been a fantastic car for the motorway journeys we got it for. 20000 miles up.

  15. A bit of help needed guys.

My wife is sure the interior lights used to come on when the ignition was switched off, rather than by opening the door. They no longer do. I can't find anything on the car's menus to select this.

Is she just mistaken and noticing it as the nights are darker (her previous car did this) or is there a setting?

Superb 3 sel exec with interior led option and KESY

  16. Many thanks everyone. Clarification of the function is very useful and i also agree that the cold air through the face vents is a little vigorous and prone to over react tosunlight on the dash. I also have the fan setting on high which will exacerbate the problem. So, it's working as it should. I just need to play with temp vents and fan speed.

    Thanks again

  17. Hi

Just need some advice on this. The a/c button seems to operate independant of the temp control. I mean, in auto with the button lit, however high i turn the temp it does not switch off and i can feel the a/c fighting the hot air. Conversely, if i switch it off and wind the temp to LO it doesn't switch on. Setting the temp to 20 in auto produces cold air which doesnt change irrespective of the internal temp,i.e. i dont think the climate control is working. Is this normal or a glitch? Had the car 5 months but not needed the heating until now (sel exec 190 estate).

  18. Hi all

Two weeks into S3 combi ownership and loving the car.

Only minor disappointment; the rear console houses an ashtray and 12v cig socket. I had expected a USB and 3 pin charger

Can't seem to find ref in the brochure. Car is SEL exec. Did not opt for trizone or smoker's package. What option should i have taken?

1200 miles already and loving it (REPLACED A VIPER GREEN SCIROCCO MID-LIFE CRISIS!)
