  1. After the help in the topics earlier and the advice followed a new problem has come to light, which is that the fan doesn’t come on immediately when you want it to? I can still get variable speed and temperature but just it can occasionally take 3-4 minutes before the fan will come on. Very frustrating at this time of year - none more so than when I had to do the 2am rush to the hospital with wife in labour on the first night there was ice inside the car! thanks in advance
  2. That’s irritating, but thanks for the info
  3. Hi guys thanks to all above for their useful info. I’ve just tackled this job and got my heater replaced. Reasonable deal from EuroCarParts on the bit as well. But now my airbag warning light won’t go out? I removed the glovebox to get access for my fat fingers but now can’t work out what is necessary to make it work again cheers
  4. Hi, Thanks for your replies, had to be away all weekend so not had a chance to look at the Internet! Will PM soon, cheers
  5. Ok cool thanks - The car already had Columbus before but it failed so this is a refurbished second hand unit I've bought and everything else works apart from this little feature
  6. Thanks, that's very helpful. Found a couple of local users but just got to check they are "online" as some don't appear to have been around for a few months! Cheers
  7. I do not, no. I'm guessing that's the VW diagnostic software tool thing. What are my best options - find a local mate with it, or pop to skoda garage and get them to do it?
  8. Hi After some help on here a few weeks ago about a terminal failure of my Columbus unit, I managed to get a refurb unit delivered which arrived today. Have fitted it in and all working except one feature - the link which gives me a display on the driver info screen. The new unit I have had is the one which is from a newer model (mines an 09, where it still said Traffic, the new one just says TMC) but otherwise all the same. How do I re-activate this feature?
  9. Ouch. That's me f***ed then! I defy them to explain how something which has been used entirely within manufacturer's spec, is entirely unmodified, can just "fail" so suddenly and need to cost such a bomb to fix, when I have stereos in other cars that are 20+ years old working spot on. Sure, there's no complex computer bits, but computers don't just fail without warning unless there is a user input error (which there has not been).
  10. Sorry to barge in on this thread but it rather soudns as if your unit is having the same as mine has suddenly developed.. All was working fine on Sunday on a 3 hour journey home from Bristol. Monday morning - nothing. Screen turns on, can hear the little motor whirring to check if there's a CD in place, and then screen goes off. I can still feed a CD in and eject it, but nothing plays. Is there really no warranty on these from Skoda, as just like the OP, mine is a 2009 model and has just ticked over 61k, but in a car that's less than 7 years old, this kind of item should not be failing IMO. It was an integral part of the choice for me when buying the car given the miles I'm putting on to it and the time I spend in it where having the traffic updates, maps etc etc all integrated is so useful. £1868 is a LOT of money to spend on this which I do not consider to be a "Consumable" item or "wear and tear" item such as belts/pads/filters etc. Will it help that I am still paying for the car through Skoda/VW finance?
  11. Thank you, that is very helpful, I know what to look for now and where to hunt down the right bits!
  12. Thanks, I've spotted the "pinned topic" but its from 2011 and noone seems to reply except to ask about the same issue! is all the information still the same 5 years later on and can the units still be purchased, somewhere in the info, it goes into several different bluetooth model numbers and I get a bit confused to which one is a direct replacement and which would need coding?
  13. Hi, new here because I've a problem with the Superb and someone pointed me in the direction of this forum. I've had my Superb for about 18 months now and the most frustrating matter with it is that neither my personal phone nor my work phone will pair to the bluetooth within the car. I have an iPhone 6 for personal, and a Nokia Lumia of some sort for work. Really I just want to pair the iPhone so I can stream music and calls without having to plug into the aux cable. The car is a 2009 '09 plate Elegance, with the Columbus navigation unit all built in from new. The dealer have given me all the latest updates to the software on board the car but to no joy. Help much apprecaited Cheers Alex
