  1. Hello all! Been a while since I last posted. My Citigo is due its 3rd service, but I can't figure out what kind of service needs to be done. Handbook and service history from Skoda says the car had an "inspection service" at 1 year old, an "inspection and oil change" at 2 years, so what does it need for the 3rd service? Minor? Major? Tried looking in the handbook and Skoda website etc, not much use. I won't be servicing within the dealer network as the car is on PCP and I intend to VT very soon, so don't want to spend unnecessary money maintaining the "full dealer history" when I won't benefit from the premium that will command come resale time. I have already paid off more than 50% of the finance, so I'm able to VT any time after now, but unfortunately I left the VT notification too late to avoid having to pay out for the service and MOT that need to be done. Thanks in advance for your information!
  2. Well, that's why you buy a car seat cover. I've got a £25 one for the back seat of my car and it's good enough, absorbent and traps a lot of dirt!
  3. Surely you still have half the boot capacity left when you only have one of the rear seats up? Or do they not fold down individually? What's the difference between using a dog crate which would take up about half the boot, or just using the car seat already there?
  4. I'm tempted by the Up! GTI as a next car. A Citigo, essentially, but with almost twice the power? Yeah that sounds like a laugh!
  5. I don't have a kodiaq, I'm from the Citigo forums but have been snooping about here as I quite fancy a Kodiaq as my next car! (I know, bit of a jump up in size!). I use a dog harness which is designed to clip around a seatbelt so the dog can sit on a passenger chair whilst travelling. If you've got 7 seats and you don't use the third row that often, maybe an option would be to buy a car seat harness for the dog and leave one of the rear seats up to use as the "dog seat"? Just a suggestion, and obviously depends how often you have all 7 seats occupied! The alternatives are to get a crate but I think these are generally designed to be fitted to 5 seater SUVs, so may completely prevent the use of the 3rd row.
  6. Your profile says you're based in Edinburgh, so just go on holiday to Land's End, and drive around the M25 the long way! Meaning, go around the M25, going across Dartford bridge, rather than the more sensible idea of driving around the short way and going past the M4. Google Maps reckons that journey is mostly motorway or dual carriageway A roads, and it is a total journey of 726 miles! Probably ideal for maximising the economy if you stick to 60-65 all the way! I certainly couldn't hope to achieve anywhere near that average figure, my usual best is about 45 mpg on motorway journeys, but then I have a very heavy right foot...
  7. I must be the youngest member with a completely standard Citigo! Although mine is on finance and was never intended to be a keeper, just a cheap motor for uni, I plan on handing back and getting something much more powerful! Yours is looking fantastic! Wish I had the money to change the alloys for something else, I've got the standard SE L alloys and do wish I had them in a darker colour!
  8. Passed my test in 2015, got my Citigo as my first car in 2016, have had it for 2 years and 3 months, and 21 thousand miles in all weathers. Have been all over North Wales, up in Liverpool, over at Southend on Sea in Essex, even gone to South Wales for a day visiting a friend in Neath (my family live south of Oxford, so a reasonable distance to all these places!), and not once have I ever had a single issue with it! Except for the one time it blew the washer system fuse back in March when I woke up at my partner's house, on top of a Derbyshire hill to about 4 inches of snow and a temperature of -6 degrees Celsius. Proceeded to drive about 80 miles from said small village to my sister's house on the Wirral, using the A6, M60, and M56, with no functioning washer system, on a day where spray was mostly salt which built up on your windscreen like nobody's business. Had to keep pulling over and pouring water over my windscreen just so I could see where I was going! Fantastic little car, and mine is the SE L so I've got the lovely heated seats, they do wonders for your back on long winter journeys. Have even driven across the Cat 'n' Fiddle a couple of times in snow and it's always bravely motored wherever I took it! I've been pondering what would make a suitable replacement for it, and so far there aren't many cars which can offer the value for money that this car has given me. It'll be seeing me through university, and summer of 2019 I'll be looking to replace, and would like something bigger but unfortunately nothing seems to be a worthy contender as a replacement for a Citigo! I do quite fancy an Up! GTI though... A Citigo, essentially, but with almost twice the power? That sounds like a right laugh!
  9. Yeah, because the Monte and the GreenTec models have the same suspension. It's why when you spec a GreenTec car, you can't have the optional 'sports' suspension, because it's already fitted!
  10. All these people getting averages of 60+ mpg and here I am thinking I'm lucky when I get more than 40mpg out of mine! I do lots of short journeys and urban driving, so that really hammers the average. On a long run, I generally get about 45 mpg which I deem perfectly adequate, but that's probably because I have a (ahem) MUCH higher cruising speed than most of you. I've found my BEST figure, 69.7 mpg over a 125 mile journey, was down to the fact about 110 miles out of that 125 was motorway/dual carriageway, in busy rush hour traffic so was mostly cruising along at about 56 mph in L1. I will struggle to find another car that can manage to average 45 mpg at a very fast motorway cruise. I'm quite satisfied with that!
  11. I've done a fair share of 3+ hour journeys in my Citigo, and while it's perfectly adequate, when loaded up with 4 people and their luggage, it does get a bit wearing if you're not driving on exclusively motorways, as while it can handle a steady 60 mph cruise just fine, accelerating is quite a chore. I would say do it if you like, but if you get offered something with more power, then take it!
  12. Mine didn't work as I'd forgotten to put washer fluid in so the washer tank ended up as a block of solid ice, and I pulled on the lever to wash the screen, nothing worked, and didn't work for a week or so after. Checked the fuses, hey presto I've blown the fuse for the washer system. Paid about £4 for a pack of 10 replacement 10 amp fuses from Halfords, and all works perfectly fine now!
  13. Don't know about retrofitting, but I know cruise isn't an expensive option. It comes as part of a £300 convenience pack which includes parking sensors and a trip computer IIRC
  14. Just don't want to be driving around with a weird bit of tape stuck on to the glass in front of the speedometer
  15. Is there a way of switching off the main beam symbol on the dashboard? Mainly because when driving at night the blue glare from the main beam symbol is unpleasant, and I'd rather do without it! I can tell when I've got my main beam on, because 1: I can see further ahead, and 2: the indicator stalk is pushed back, meaning there is a physical reminder in the car!
