  1. Hi all Test drive tomorrow. Anything faults wise I need to look out for including a booming rear hatch? I’ve never had DSG and understand this is a 7 speed wet clutch on 245. Is this reliable? Thanks all👍
  2. I’ve arranged a test drive but would still like to know if the new boot clips worked on the facelift.....anyone or is it topic fatigue on this 😀
  3. Sorry to bump this topic but I am ready to change my car and would I’ve to go back to the VRS. This time though I’m looking at a 2017 facelift and really need to know if the facelift still has problems with booming as it’s a no go if it does. I can’t see new posts on facelift so assume it’s been resolved but any knowledge greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. Me as well. Such a shame as I loved it otherwise but couldn’t put up with the noise. Has this been resolved now if buying used?
  5. Such a shame. I loved much about the VRS but couldn't live with the noise in the end. I tried everything to deal with the constant boom and noise, and spent lots of money on sound proofing , spare tyre in wheel well, new tyres, but it was inherently a noisy design. I bought a new Seat Leon. Same platform but in a different league on NVH. It's so quiet in comparison and I can hear my music on the motorway now. I've had two mk2 and my 3 VRS but no more Skodas until they invest in sound proofing and a better design. They aren't cheap cars anymore so they have no excuses. If Seat can do it so can Skoda.
  6. If you want to stay With VAG why not try Seat Leon FR150 petrol? Good drive, great engine, good spec and good prices.
  7. Yes, I can really appreciate your priorities lie elsewhere but an additional stress that won't help. I wondered if the new facelift has been changed to solve the issues as its had more sound deadening.
  8. I bought the sound deadening from the 'sound deadening shop' website. I covered the whole of the wheel well and boot floor in 4mm silentcoat then put dynamat on the top of it as well. The spacesaver then went on top of the mat. This does make the wheel slightly high though. I should have done the wheel arches but too much hassle to get trim off easily. I also put on a thick bootfloor protector mat. Excluding the sparewheel, it cost about £150 all in so not cheap but it was worth it. I made sure I levelled the boot hatch stoppers and rubbers as well which helped. I found if I over tightened the boot stops it made the cabin pressurise though. I've never had to do this before and it is a joke considering the cost of the car. I bought mine nearly new. Previous owner traded in for a BMW after 6 months and I imagine the noise was the reason. Its really spoils what is otherwise a great car. I had a pre and post face lift vrs mk 2 and this mk 3 is my last skoda.
  9. It made a very significant difference to me as did changing tyres from the noisy pirellis and adding a spare tyre in the footwell. However, it isn't 100% and is still noticeable over bad surfaces. Mind you the whole car is so noisy it adds to the general cacaphony. I find noise suppression is very poor. I test drove a new style seat leon fr a few weeks ago and its like a church in comparison!
  10. There are lots of new kits on eBay for less than £20. If you spend the day doing it yourself you'll know it's done properly and save a fortune.
  11. I had two mk 2 vrs, the original and facelift. I respected both cars for the blend of practicality and reasonable performance and for me trouble free motoring. However I never 'loved' them. I now have a mk3 vrs tsi and it's all the things I respected but in a different league to me on desirability. It's a car I've truly bonded with and for someone who changes car on average every 8 months, the first car in many years I can see holding on to for a good few years.
  12. I love the sound generator in mine. Adds a bit of fun to proceedings.
  13. I wasn't sure at first and seeing in the metal would help but I've got used to it and think it looks okay too. VRS mock up looks good if it came out anything like that and wouldnt put me off having another, especially with the virtual cockpit.
  14. I drove a BMW 3 series m sport before buying the VRS. Road noise on par to be honest. I find the VRS rather civilised and it's much quieter than the Kia ceed gt I had before it. I can happily have a conversation on the motorway now and hear my music just fine. Saying that, changeing over to the Goodyear F1 as3 made a very significant difference in road noise compare to the pzeroes I had before them.
  15. Unfortunately for me 19" much more expensive. Best I could get was £142 per corner fitted
  16. Yes, as above, totally normal. You can see the feint marks on any dash.
  17. Always safer buying second hand as far as depreciation is concerned. I bought mine at 6 months old and already £7000 cheaper than when new. The original owner put £2000 of extras on it and then decided he wanted a BMW X6 instead so obviously could afford the losses!!!
  18. Just put the as3 on the rears to replace the pzeroes. What a difference. So much quieter from the back end and a much smoother ride with better grip. I'll do my fronts a soon as I can afford it.
  19. I'm sure this is mentioned in the previous 33 pages but anyone having issues, but I've just changed my rear Pirelli pzeroes for Goodyear f1 asymmetric 3's and the transformation is amazing. I found the pirellis transmitted terrible booming into the cabin and now the noise and vibration has gone and the reduction in overall noise has been amazing. Levels of grip also much better. As soon as I can afford to I'll replace the fronts as well.
  20. They should but I think people are running into dealers who can't hear the fault so won't trigger the warranty repair.
  21. I love that colour. Might have to have my spoiler painted black. It would go great with the mooon white and black pack plus on my car.
  22. I think it's likely to be an easy DIY job and I can't see the parts being expensive so well worth getting the parts and doing this anyway if dealer doesn't want to play ball under warranty
  23. Sorry for being a bit dim but I've never had an oil temperature gauge. Mine on a hard drive goes up to 105 degrees and usually between that and 90. Is this a normal temp range? Ta.
  24. I manage between 33 and 35 for my 15 commute with stop start town driving mixed with longer country lanes. Easy 43 on a long gentle motorway jaunt. I like to floor it in between so very happy with that. My last car a Kia ceed Gt was much slower and wouldn't budge past 33 in any circumstances.
